This Indian supermarket also sells cheap cooked food (chaat - Indian street food), though much of…read moreit is pre-made; masala butter pav & sugar cane juice were fresh - probably the items on the printed sheet are made fresh since you need to show your receipt to the attendant. Not all branches do food - for example the Mississauga branch doesn't. Got a sugar cane for only $3. It came with options to add lime and/or ginger, which I declined. It seemed to have a bit of a sour edge, so it probably had lemon added. It was good, though it wasn't cold. On the flip side, that meant it wasn't cut with ice either. It was a bit small, though it was described on the receipt as "12 oz. Now bigger qty" so I guess it used to be even smaller. The paan (stuffed betel nut leaf) was actually pretty good - moist & a good mix of flavours, with a maraschino cherry pinned onto its outside with a toothpick. Masala butter pav was pretty good though the bun was soft & not crispy. Small samosa (for which they undercharged me - 20 cents though the menu said it was 25 cents to get you to buy 5 for $1) was actually pretty big. It was ok; though pre-made it still had some crispness. Batataka vada was large but plain & neither crispy nor warm so it wasn't good. The "jumbo" vada pav came in a burger bun. The patty was not crispy because it was pre-made & cold but it still tasted OK. The chutneys were nice. The patty used potato that was a bit coarse but still tasted ok; compressed into the bun the chunkiness of the potato was not so noticeable. The spiciness of the dish hit in the aftertaste especially hard. Some items are only available in "summer", but there's summer and there's summer; when I went sugar cane juice was available but not the ice golla.

They have excellent samosas and kachori. I recommend to go there for these tasty and convenient…read moresnacks!

The woman behind the meat counter was wearing a mask, but it was useless, as her nose wasn't covered. I turned to my right, and a barefaced man one metre from me was looking at meats. I mentioned the face mask bylaw to him. He ignored me, as did staff. At checkout, the woman on cash wore a mask, but her nose was fully exposed. I asked her to tell the manager that I won't be shopping there any more and the reason for my decision. I didn't feel safe. We're in a pandemic. And no one seemed to care.

I visited this place on Saturday, and it was my first time purchasing an item there. I looked…read morearound the store for some junk food first before moving into their deli section. For some of the chocolates, crakers, etc. that I looked at it was difficult to discern what it was or tasted like. Many of the junk foods had pictures, but as they deal largely with imported European foods, the packages don't always have English on them - they often do, but not always. I settled on some crackers that said graham on them, but afterwards when I opened them up they didn't look or taste anything like our traditional western graham crackers. They didn't taste bad, but I include this point to signify the usefulness of English on the packages. I also purchased 200g of cheese. I couldn't read the languague on any of the cheeses so I asked a lady to pair a good cheese with my crackers... yes, I asked for a good cheese pairing with my graham crackers. I got some sheepish looks but given my question I think it was fair. I got 200g of a mild cheese and it tasted pretty good. I didn't recognize any cuts of meats that were chicken or turkey and so I didn't explore any of those offerings. It seemed like this was the busiest part of the store. If you don't speak the language many of the ladies use (I didn't recognize it) they do speak English and are helpful. I left with my cheese, graham crackers, some Sesame Snaps candy and the cost was a little over $8. Not bad considering 2 of the 3 items bought were imported.
