Connie & Mary are delightful! I'm picky about my cuts and Mary won't stop until it's perfect. My son and I walk out happy & looking good?

Panda room has been my son's favorite place to get a hair cut with Miss Lori. He adores her and the feeling is mutual. She has a very calm energy and listen to what we wish for a cut even when the child is trying to say how he wants it she gets it. Thank you so much Lori. I highly recommend this place and Miss Lori to cut your children's hair. Cheers. Adriana read more

Received a great haircut from Mary. She's very professional, pleasant, timely and listen really well to what haircut I wanted.

Not just for kids - Lori was so wonderful with my elderly mother. It is a calm place and my mother doesn't want her hair washed or to have anyone cut her hair - but this was very successful with Lori and her swift scissors, even using the quiet setting on the blow dryer. From squirmy kids to anxious seniors --Thanks Lori and team for making it a safe space for her to get a haircut! Very Alzheimer's/Dementia friendly. Pair it with the yummy frozen yogurt next door for a great outing! read more

We love Panda Room! We've been coming to this fantastic kids' haircut salon since my son was 4, and now, at 10, we still wouldn't go anywhere else! Mary is absolutely amazing--she's always so personable, friendly, and knows exactly how to make my son feel comfortable. She is consistent, communicative, and provides care and a great cut every time! We leave with a smile every time. We can't recommend Mary and Panda Room enough! Highly recommend! read more

Panda Room does a superb job on my daughter's short haircut. The salon is very kid friendly and the value is high because the haircuts are excellent. Also the stylists are experienced and are efficient. We always make it an event with lunch next door at blue barn. read more

Mary gave our son one of his first haircuts at ~12 mo old, and we've since become regulars coming back to request for her over the past couple years. Baby/toddler haircuts for us are often challenging with squirming, whining, and sometimes tears, but Mary is always incredibly patient with him (and us). She once let us take a 15-minute break to walk around the mall before returning to finish the cut because our son didn't like the sound of the clippers. Over time, he has grown comfortable with Mary and now gets excited to return to the Panda Room and pick out books to read during the haircut. Mary is always on time, efficient, super friendly, and great at putting him at ease. She always remembers how we like his hair and is happy to make adjustments if needed. While the haircuts are kinda pricey and it's a bit of a drive from the city, it's become a little ritual to make the trek with stops at REI, Fieldwork, Blue Barn, etc. Thank you Mary -- and see you again soon! read more

We have seen Mary at Panda Room for my son's haircuts for years and she does such an excellent job! He gets compliments on his hair cuts all the time and she is very lovely, kind and patient with him when he's in her chair! My daughter has seen pretty much everyone who works at Panda Room for her hair cuts (often a trim) and they do a great job with her hair as well. I recommend Panda Room (and especially Mary for boy's haircuts) to my mom friends all the time! read more

We have taken my three year old son here several times and got a decent haircut but today it was just atrocious. I guess the lady is new(?) but this was the first time she cut my son's hair. We just asked for a short haircut with a bit of fade on the sides. And oh my god, it looks like he cut his own hair on the back it's so uneven! As of a a kid just chopped off their own hair and she didn't even clean up the sides- the hair is still long and over his ears. Just chunks of hair on the back of his head. She took forever to do this and he was getting so itchy and upset. He had hair all over his face and she didn't even attempt to clean it. We just wanted to get him out of there, we didn't ask her to fix it because god knows she would probably make it even worse (if that's even possible). As if all of that wasn't enough she tried to charge us $70 instead of $35 because she assumed we would pay for another child? We were the only ones at the salon at that time. What a joke of a place. The name of the lady who cut my son's hair is Leanne. Please avoid her. read more

This salon does not wash the hair before a cut. They do not even have a facility to do a wash. Very grouse. They did do a decent hair cut but took 25 minutes to comb out my granddaughters tangled hair before the cut. Just didn't seem right. We will never go here again. read more

Hit or miss, but now that the price has risen to (I think) $27 for a basic kid's cut, really not worth rolling the dice here. The first time I came here, I had a decent experience. My two year old came out with a nice enough basic bob as I had requested. She enjoyed playing with the toys. And a big plus to me, the staff are super dog friendly and although my dog stayed outside with my husband, they said she was welcome in since it was a quiet day. I was a little less satisfied on the second visit. The prices had risen and the stylist doesn't really seem to be particularly interested in kids. We didn't have any problems since my daughter was well behaved, but I imagine a nervous kid would have not been out at ease at all. Plus, the haircut came out a little crooked. While we like the toys at the panda room, I've since been to other kids' salons and seen that it can actually get much better with chairs shaped like cars and motorcycles. And at the next place we went to (not in Marin, unfortunately) I saw how good a really kid friendly stylist can be. read more

Lori is an amazing hair dresser. She has cut our 2 year old son's hair a few times and always does a great job!

We've been there a few times with our kids. The haircuts always look good and they do a good job of making our kids comfortable.

My husband decided to give my 16month old a haircut (huge mistake!) so we frantically showed up here at closing and they were nice enough to stay late and fix his hair. We had already been to a place in San Rafael for his first haircut (another mistake) so we were nervous to try another. We really loved the end result, highly recommended! read more

My daughter had her first cut on her 2nd birthday by Connie, and we couldn't have had a better experience. She made my daughter feel so relax, she was so sweet to her and did an amazing job! She made her feel extra special for her birthday by adding sparkles and jewels in her hair. We will definitely come back for a cut with Connie. read more

I brought my baby in for his first haircut and I am so happy I did. We saw Ziya, who was so sweet and my son had the best time getting his first haircut. He was all smiles and laughter, and his haircut is the sweetest- he looked so handsome for the holidays. Now it's time for haircut number two and I know he will love the experience just as much the second time around. I love this place! My son just had his fourth haircut and we couldn't love this place more! I asked my son if he wanted to get his haircut and he enthusiastically said yes. We came in, he sat by himself for the first time, he held still, and he got the best haircut. He loves Ziya and she is so good with him. It's always a pleasure to come here, he has the best time, and I love that he's so happy and he looks handsome after coming here- it's our favorite! read more

I always have a great experience here. Everyone is so attentive, nice, and experienced. It is hard to find a place that specializes in servicing wiggly, sometimes unhappy toddler and kids, and everyone at Panda Room is great with kids. They take their time to make sure my kids leave with a great haircut, and with a smile on their faces. They are in a great shopping mall as well, where you can take your kids out for treats or lunch after. read more

I took my toddler to the Panda Room for his first haircut. They're conveniently located in Town Center and accept walk-in's, which is great. They also have lots of toys so my son was happily occupied during a brief wait. They specialize in kids and knew just what to do - my son sat in my lap and played with a bucket of toys during his haircut, so he was totally distracted and still. So, fantastic experience up until this point. Then it went south. I told the barber I wanted a trim and emphasized a few times that I wanted to keep his curls. Please just take a little off his bangs and around his ears. Fast forward, zero curls left. He's totally shorn and my husband and I both super bummed about how different he looks. A few google searches later about how toddler curls often don't grow back after he first haircut and you have a mama in tears. I know the first haircut can be emotional, so read this review through that lens. I wanted to share because if I had known this was the kind of place that does whatever haircut they want regardless of what you specify, I wouldn't have gone in. For what it's worth, there was a male barber working and his clients walked away with some curls intact, so perhaps some of the barbers listen to you at the Panda Room. read more

Panda Room - He's happier than he looks :-) - Hair Salons Near Me - Corte Madera, California

Awesome haircuts, sweet staff and they are going above and beyond with COVID safety measures! We've been taking our kid here for a few years and love everyone there. Yesterday was his first haircut in COVID times, and we were a little nervous as we have been extremely cautious and are doing very few appointments. However, right away I was put at ease. The double doors are set wide open so there is tons of ventilation. They moved down to three chairs and reconfigured the whole space so each chair is the max distance from others (more than six feet). Everyone in masks (anyone over 2 sign says), temperature checks, and hand sanitizer for our kid and his father. They asked for just one adult to enter (and only if one is needed to accompany child). I appreciated this very much, and it was fine, as I could stand outside the doors and see and talk to them just fine. They sanitize each chair between use and use single use capes are given for each child. I was extremely impressed with how much effort they put into each detail to make the experience as safe as possible during these times. The haircut was with Esther and was perfect. She spent lots of time getting it just right. And we have seen most of the stylists over the past two+ years and loved them all! read more

I love Panda Room! I have been coming here for a few years and leave happy with my hair every single time. My hair, which is thick and curly, is difficult to cut and until finding Panda Room, I bounced from hairdresser to hairdresser in search of someone with expertise in hair like mine. Although all of the women at Panda Room are precise, professional, friendly and good hairdressers, my favorite person to go to is Connie because she does an extra good job with my hair. Connie has a ruler at the end of the comb to show you how much hair she is cutting off and always gives me the exact haircut that I want! Panda Room specializes in young children and on many occasions, I have been impressed by the hairdressers ability to give quick, good looking haircuts to squirmy or crying children. One thing to note is that Panda Room does not take credit cards-it is cash/check only. I will not go anywhere else for my haircuts and absolutely recommend Panda Room to anyone looking for a great haircut! read more

Our little one was in dire need of a haircut, but we weren't too keen on coming here, albeit its convenient location, due to the mixed reviews. But with the lack of choices in Marin and due to time constraints, we decided to try it out anyway (aware that we may need to have it corrected God-knows-where OR put a hat on our LO for picture day). And boy, were we SO glad that we took a chance! Lori not only did a **WONDERFUL** job, but she did so with so much care, patience, and was very gentle with our sobbing and fearful boy - arms flailing and all (our boy, not Lori). If she were stressed or annoyed at my toddler's inability to stay still, she did not show it. Lori was professional, warm, and clearly knows her line of work! We are ready for Picture Day! Yey! Will definitely be back! read more

Took my son here for his first hair cut, the lady that cut his hair was horrible and the cut itself was worse. We showed her a picture of what we wanted and instead of saying we should just go somewhere else, blew it off and did what I assume is the only generic cut she knows for boys, which was still an uneven disaster. I even tried to talk to her about the style while she was doing it and she acted like she didn't hear me. The rest of the staff seemed nice and they have pleanty to keep kids entertained while there but this was such a terrible experience that I will never be going back and would advise looking for other options when looking for kids hair cuts. read more

I was mixed about trying the Panda Room from the wide range of reviews. Since they had some positive reviews as well, I thought I would give it a try. Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience at the Panda Room. My daughter was so excited to get her hair cut, but the stylist was so incredibly rude, we left within 5 minutes. When we walked in, the place was completely empty. The stylist looked at the clock and then very rudely said she would take us. Then she asked for my daughter's name. She didn't hear me the first time, so she asked again. I began to spell it for her, and she snapped at me, "I know how to spell it!" (She actually spelled it wrong, but I didn't say anything.) Her rudeness continued until finally I told her she was being very rude. She became very defensive saying that it was me not her. She then looked at me and said, "Are we going to do this or not?" I told her no and took my daughter out. My daughter was very disappointed since she was looking forward to a haircut. She asked me what was going on. I told her we were leaving since the woman wasn't being very nice. The stylist then yells at me, "Don't tell her that!" Not only was she incredibly rude and defensive, she even had the nerve to tell me how I communicate with my daughter. The worst part about this experience is the disappointment for my daughter. The owners really need to remember that they need to hire people who like their jobs, like interacting with the public and remember how getting a haircut is a special experience for kids. read more

Rude, uncaring, "assembly line" style cuts for poor, unsuspecting kids. I was shocked by the uncaring attitude of the stylists at this salon that is supposed to cater to kids! The woman who was cutting my daughter's hair was pulling mercilessly with no consideration for the fact that my 3 year old was scared and it hurt. I had to repeatedly ask her to be more gentle and would've just walked out if the cut wasn't already in process. It seemed the priority of the stylists here is get 'em in and get 'em out as quickly as possible. Rotten stylists aside, they don't offer any diversions for kids other than some ratty books (ripped, stained - pretty nasty) and no special goodies that most children's haircut places offer (treasure chest with a small trinket or toy for after the cut, spray in sparkles and cute bows for girls, etc.) The name seems to be the only thing that reflects anything at all child-oriented about this place. I'll NEVER return and frankly, I don't think they should be in business. Unless your child is into pain and bad treatment, steer clear from this awful place. read more

I keep giving this place another shot... and another... and another. I have to admit, they do seem to find a way to crowbar you in when you don't have an appointment and that works really well for me. There is also a nice little play castle for the siblings to play in while waiting for their turn. There's your two-stars. We have received ONE great set of haircuts in the 8 or so times we have been. The others have been mediocre variants of bowl-esque (I call it the Frankenstein) non textured horribleness. The trick is to push the hair slightly to the side when you are done cutting (especially while it is still a bit wet); that way, it looks... decent. I provide direction and input at the start of the cut. I don't just hope for the best. Anyway, the last cut for my youngest was the final straw. For the next week, all I could do was apologize to him when I saw him. Classic Frankenstein with some sort of exploding chrysanthemum sprouting from the crown. I took him to Mil Vali with a sort-of "please help fix this" look... the stylist was a bit shocked and confirmed they had cut his hair way too short at the very top resulting in the explosive flora look. She fixed up the bangs and did what she could with the top. We just need to wait for it to grow out now. Panda Room... we are finished. Oh, and you Carolyn... never again. read more

My son's haircut at Panda Room last month was quick, and expertly done. My son also enjoyed the fun play area at the Panda Room. The poor guy had a bad haircutting experience about a month before he went to the Panda Room at The Ranch in San Anselmo--I actually contacted the Board of Cosmetology because the barber at The Ranch cut my son's neck and had a very dirty shop. My son enjoyed his time at the Panda Room, so fortunately he was not scared of haircuts after The Ranch experience. The hair-cutter at the Panda Room also fixed all of the bad layers that the barber at The Ranch had added to my son's hair. My son has received so many compliments on his haircut from the Panda Room. We are trying the Panda Room in Novato soon too. read more

Great idea to have a children's hair salon and they execute it well with play area and they are fast as hell. Just don't be late for your appointment and expect to wait even if you are on time. They get paid for how many cuts they can do not on an hourly basis. So they squeeze in as many as possible. They really didn't do that great of a job on the haircut either. I wasn't in a hurry to go back. They do not seem to take care of themselves and personally have no style at all, that it worries me how well they might be able to make my boys look when they look like utter bums. Their dress hairstyle and mannerisms in the shop while customers are there might be vomit inducing for some. With that said, if you got a little guy or gal that hates haircuts you still should consider them once. read more

Too bad they can't get negative stars. My kid has had about 4 haircuts here and each time I have cried because his hair looks horrible. Each time it's uneven and bangs too short. This final time I've had it. Asked them to cut bangs no shorter then his eyebrow and it's about an inch or more shorter then eyebrows. Back of hair isn't cut even. He has a bull cut with short bangs. Total embarrassment. I cut my child's hair during most of the pandemic and did a far better job What a joke. read more

The Panda Room is awesome we are glad we listened to our friends advice. We just got back from our 18month olds boy's first ever haircut and we had a great experience! Not only does he look cuter than he did before but the price was very reasonable. You even get a commemorative certificate with a picture and little snippet of hair :) read more

It's worth the drive up to Corte Madera from SF to get your child's hair cut at Panda Room. Forget Snippety Crickets and its dirty, hair laden toys. The stylists know their shit - the layers and textures cut into my son's hair screamed of technique and training, unlike the quick bowl cuts at said former salon. Totally worth the $20. You can't even buy a round of Cow's Girl Creamery cheese with that. read more

Solid place. Be nice if you want people to be nice in return. They book up tightly with minimal room for lateness and overlap. If you were late for a grown up salon appointment, you'd have to reschedule -- so why wouldn't here? EDITORIAL COMMON SENSE: From looking at the complaints, why on earth would you go to a hair place and not give input into your kid's hair cut in the first place? The trio of stylists we typically see at work are very seasoned even with disconnection / razoring and various seasoned technique you would typically go to a high fashion salon for. Then again, my kid is easy going and has been getting her hair cut professionally since she was a toddler -- so acting up and being frightened isn't an issue. read more

We did a search for children's hair cut places and this was one location that was closest to us. It was my daughter's first professional hair cut as I was able to do trims prior. Making an appontment was easy, but the welcoming we got was horrible. The hairdresser behind the desk had the worst attitude. My husband, daughter, 7lb yorkie (Dog), and I entered carrying my dog. She stated to me "Oh dogs are not allowed, I am allergic and it is also illegal to bring dogs in here." (She stated this with such attitude and plain rudeness I was so confused.) I said no problem, I will wait outside. She then said , well if you hold it the whole time bring it in. (As she rolled her eyes at me.) So I said ok. Then she said Yeah like last week this lady brought a dog in put it down and it peed. Our actual hair stylist Naomi greeted us and she was so warm and embarrassed for us read more

I've been coming to the Panda Room for a couple of years and I literally come for Kelly. I think she does such a great job with my boys! She's the only person I trust here. Unfortunately I've had two different occasions when I come in and she's not here... and the person that IS in, tells me that Kelly left or isn't working the rest of the day. The frustrating part is that BOTH times I've made appointments to make sure Kelly does my boys haircuts and I've had to go ahead with the person that is in. The worst part is- that the two other ladies that have done their haircuts are just not good. I don't like to give people a hard time, but honestly I've almost never come back because of how terrible of a job they've done. Is there a way to ensure this doesn't happen again? We need to either give Kelly more days or make sure there are more people working that know what they are doing. I hope this is helpful since we are very loyal costumers. Thanks for your attention to this matter. read more
