Second time, the bus pulls up and starts leaking this green fluid (in the picture. The bus trip was delayed 2 HOURS and I ended up taking Trailways for $10 more. I'm glad I did not let all the negative reviews dictate my decision to take this route to North Carolina. For my daughter's winter break we are visiting family in Jacksonville NC which is not an easy city to travel to by plane or train. The best option is to drive and there's no way I'm doubling the number of miles on my vehicle. I did some research and Google suggested Panda NY. We traveled from Long Island to Chinatown by car and boarded our coach bus at the 172 E. Broadway bus stop (not Allen)at 6:30. I checked in with the front desk to receive my bus ticket and seat numbers. The staff spoke decent English and informed me of where to board the bus. There was a small waiting area with many passengers waiting to board. The bus was early and it was a brand new coach bus. Beautiful lighting and squeaky clean. Reclining seats, USB charging dock, ample leg reg,No odors and great air ventilation. The bathroom was also very clean to use. We left at 7:15 and made about 4 pit stops in total for dinner, bathroom and gas breaks. Once in Kenly North Carolina we switched to a smaller sprinter van to take everyone to cities that were off the route of the big coach bus. We arrived sooner than the posted time. For $40 a ticket compared to a $400 round trip AMTRAK and a $600 airplane ticket, this is a steal. On the trip back to New York the bus that picked us up in Kenly N.C was not as modern and new as the bus we took leaving China Town. The seats were severely uncomfortable, floors were soiled and our legs were cramped. The seats that reclined crushed the person's legs behind you. We made about 4 stops total for bathroom and food. The heat was not working properly on the older bus and at times the Air Conditioner was blowing and then extreme heat. Very uncomfortable yet we arrived in NYC before the arrival time. Many passengers were traveling from Florida over 24 hours. Understandable why the bus is filthy. We had to ask passengers who were using two seats to get up and offer up the vacant seat once we boarded in N.C. No announcements were made at 1:30 a.m. People were grumpy. Once in NYC, The F train is easily accessible on Rutgers and E. Broadway when returning home. 1. Bring patience, prayer and high quality headphones for the loud snoring individuals and those who are tone deaf. 2. Listen out for all pit stop announcements and route changes. 3. Wear layers ! A tank top for when the heat blasts. A sweatshirt and long pants for when the AC kicks up. 4. The older buses have very old carpet like fabric seats that cause your body temperature to rise and may be nests for bed bugs etc. bring plastic or sheets to cover the seats and stay cool. Bring plastic bags to protect your coats and personal items in the overhead from infestation. Overall Very convenient and affordable for families. Go to sleep, Blink your eyes and you're at your destination. I would not advise traveling with very small children aboard this bus. read more

I've taken PandaNY about 6 times between NY & North Carolina. Price is $50-$60 for a 7.5-8.5 hour ride. It's either this or megabus (which is DISGUSTING) that takes 12-15 hours with transfers. I usually travel at night & recommend calling if your bus is after 7pm to confirm when it's arriving at your stop. (Sometimes the 8-9pm buses going to NYC wont arrive in NC until 9:30-10pm.) When you call ask nicely, no one likes helping someone who's yelling at them. Compared to other companies, PandaNY has consistently been the fastest. Also, they wait until the very last minute before letting standby customers on. The one time I took megabus, my first bus was late but I still arrived 15 minutes before my transfer bus was supposed to leave. Turns out the transfer bus had already given away my seat - told me "you should've been here 20 minutes before" & I was stranded in DC for 9 hours. For PandaNY, the random stops people are talking about are actual bus stops where they pick up passengers. Most drivers don't speak English well/not at all but they'll always scream out the stops clearly - if not being able to communicate bothers you, pull up google translate & make it work. Whenever I take buses (doesn't matter what company) I keep my liquid intake to a minimum because those toilets gross me out. Either do the same if you don't want to use it, or wait for the pit stop. If you're worried about the cleanliness of the window/arm rest you want to lay your head on, bring wipes or wear a hoodie. (Also you're taking a bus that god knows how many people sit on. People don't have the best hygiene & bugs are literally a risk you take when you take any kind of transportation service. Save yourself the headache & dont come on in a tank top and shorts) You're paying for a bus that has the sole purpose of getting you from point A to point B in the least amount of time. Virginia - New York I was traveling on a busy weekend and decided to cut my trip short. To avoid traffic, I decided to opt for a night bus and this company was the only who offered it. Pros: Bus arrived to the stop on time and at the destination earlier. We had a single ten minute stop, which allowed me to avoid using the bus' bathroom but not waste too much time with lengthy stops. Cons: I have never been on a filthier bus in my life, which says a lot since I've traveled in third world countries quite a bit. There was gum stuck everywhere and trash all over the place. I felt completely disgusted once I boarded and immediately regretted my decision. Emergency window was slightly open and it was freezing. The heating on the bus helped but it was still cold. It was impossible to even breathe in the seat due to size and discomfort. Driver was speaking very loudly in a foreign language throughout the entire ride. This is a night bus, for crying out loud! Most people were on the bus before I boarded so I am assuming it's coming from pretty deep south. People are exhausted (understandably) so it's not a pleasant atmosphere. I absolutely detest traveling by bus to where I gotta go but it's a really inexpensive way to travel crossing state lines. Bring a neck pillow, and headset to muffle out those inconsiderate fools. As well as a hoodie because it can get really cold. Departure: I arrived about thirty minutes before the departure time. The numerous people waiting outside will let give you an idea tf you're at the right place or not. I checked in at the counter, and provided them the information that they asked which is the ticket - paper or digital is fine, and my ID. She tells me the bus will be delayed by one hour. It would've been better that they reached out to those who was taking the same bus to let them know it was late, or post it up on their website. Instead of finding out at the window and we're all waiting around. There's a pit stop about two hours in the ride, followed by drop off/pick up points DC, Fredericksburg, Richmond and North Carolina. The places they choose to pick up and drop off passengers are in HIGHLY sus areas, like, don't go alone areas. I'd assume it's close to the highway and easy for the drivers to get around to. The driver will honk if they're picking up passengers and don't see anyone, or to get your attention. I did see the driver smoke but did not smell any smoke even though I was within the first few rows. Return trip: I just want to point out, those pickup and drop off points are shared by multiple buses, albeit at different times generally unless they're running late and run into the others' scheduled pickup. I called the number prior to ensure the bus wouldn't be delayed and such, and the lady over the phone quickly gave me a time range since she's able to see the GPS of the bus. Well, the bus ended up being about 12 minutes later than the maximum time she gave me, making it a total of about 42 minutes late for pickup. The driver came out, immediately opened the cargo area and the pair of Chinese people who were waiting in parking lot with me, exchanged goods and money. They immediately in the bus, with no tickets to scan and sat 'behind the ropes' - which were plastic bags roping off the first couple of rows in the bus. Then, the driver, who DID acknowledge me first since I was at the front of the 'line', scanned my ticket. I wonder what's constantly being exchanged by these people, since this isn't my first time witnessing such a thing happening. This particular bus, the charger USB ports were basically nonexistent since they were so loose, nothing could possibly keep the cables in. Someone was smoking cigs on the bus. Some annoying kids who just refused to sleep at all. At least this bus was evenly spaced out, where people had an empty seat next to them. I arrived slightly over half a hour later than scheduled so it wasn't bad. So, why the rating you might ask? Well. Y'all complain about this and that but y'all still taking this bus though. Why? Price point. Are the seats comfortable? It's OK, just bring things to make yourself comfortable. What do you expect for the price you pay? I've been on similarly styled buses where there were barely any airflow in the past, so dress light, but bring something to keep yourself warm for the buses with crazy cold AC. The drivers got me to my destinations safely, yes they speed a little but it's only about ten mph above, not a big deal. Neither of my buses smelled like the restroom or anything nasty. PSA: Those who stay yapping on the phone about nothing important, please, stfu and consider texting while in company of people who have to deal with you for the next several hours. The bus we took from Atlanta was infested with bed bugs, everyone had to get off and transfer buses in NC, we took a greyhound from there because it was disgusting, the drivers were rude, and there were so many bed bugs. They were all over everyone's jackets and luggage when we got off, and I have bites all over (I was wearing leggings and a sweatshirt). Customer service was also rude, said they put in a claim I later found out they did not, and I'm still waiting on a refund. At this point, I'm considering legal action because with the size of infestation, there's no way the bus company was unaware of the bed bug problem. read more

I never leave reviews, but I'm compelled to now. I went ahead and ignored the scathing reviews for this bus company and bought a ticket from Knoxville, TN to NYC. I don't know how these buses have been historically, but as of June 2019, they are completely satisfactory. This has been one of my better bus rides, and I'm a Greyhound veteran. Bus was entirely on-time, stops were minimal and brief, it was clean and not at all crowded, and there were NO LAYOVERS or DELAYS. If you're complaining about Panda, you've obviously never had a 6-hour layover in the dirty Cleveland greyhound station in the middle of the night, or a 12-HOUR LAYOVER in Dallas, or waited 3 hours for a late bus, or had a bus break down on the highway, or had a bus stop because a wanted fugitive is on board, etc., etc. Sure, the driver hardly speaks English, but he was friendly and professional--his demeanor was far better than that of some Greyhound employees. There were no outlets, but that's not a big deal to me. Oh, and the best part? My ticket cost $60. Greyhound would've charged over $200 for the same exact trip. TL;DR: This bus is entirely fine. There are ok, There not like Greyhound Bus Service or Megabus. There prices are fixed flat rates (Greyhound and Megabus tend to jack up there prices as soon as the holidays come near ). Or Megabus with there European company Vanhool buses. when I was traveling early this year with pandabus there A.C. wasn't working, all dough the roof window was open for some air, it still felt like the Caribbean or California -Florida heat on that bus. I have always been the one who seeks "value for money" until I decided to take a trip to Charlotte (NC) from Atlanta. Positives: 1. Cheap tickets prices - cheapest of the lot at least then Negatives: 1. Most unprofessional staff - you have got to stoop your expectation to exceptionally low levels to have a conversation with the Panda ny staffers. You would probably introspect and understand that you weren't that bad a person after all 2. Smelly Decor - The first experience that one gets entering panda bus is that of a shambolic interior and foul smell. Please do something about it.. _/\_ 3. Trash was everywhere. And it wreaked of cigarette and marijuana smoke and definitely some body odor. The only good thing about this experience was that I actually made it to the destination. The bus itself was late and when I called the number they said to text since they were busy. So I did but they never answered and when they did they told me to call another number. The woman who answered didn't understand me and kept repeating things that were impossible to understand. She told me to call another number but hung up before I had the opportunity to write it down. When I got on (after arriving 15 minutes post departure time)-- The stench and just overall experience on this horrid bus was so unbearable. It was so hot and the entire time the driver is speaking (almost yelling) and laughing so incredibly loudly on the phone, waking me and other passengers up. When I got to my seat there was a used plastic water bottle and trash both on the seat and on the ground. I used PandaNY Bus for transportation from Charlotte, NC to Chinatown, NY and vice versa because I needed something really cheap, as my original transportation plans had fallen through. Needless to say (as many reviewers have said before), you really do get what you pay for. The total for me was $80 round trip and it took about 12-13 hours each way with stops. I had originally booked a ticket to leave Charlotte at midnight on 2/15, but received a phone call from the bus stop saying this bus would be full and I could catch the 10:45PM bus on 2/14. The bus I caught was absolutely disgusting. My seat was stuck in an uncomfortable angle and the bus smelled like cigarette smoke and Doritos. The bathroom was mortifying. It looked like black mold was growing, there was barely any tissue, and no hand sanitizer or soap was in sight. We switched buses in Greensboro, NC and while the condition of the seats was better and the bus was noticeably larger (more leg room and aisle space) the heat was almost unbearable. When returning to Charlotte from NY, I visited the bus station a day before my departure to confirm my ticket purchase and was informed that the time scheduled on my purchased ticket didn't exist... I was told to catch a bus at a different time. The day of my departure I was told that the buses were running 30 minutes behind schedule. We were assigned seats, but some people didn't sit in their assigned seats so there was a little commotion about that. There was some leakage due to rain and some peoples' belongings got wet. The bus driver informed us that they had already been aware of the issue and had been working on getting it fixed. All in all, it was terrible-- there are outlets in the ceiling, the location is perfect if you're looking to stay in the lower Manhattan/Chinatown area, and customer service wasn't the worst--but I don't see myself using this service as a mode of transportation ever again unless I'm absolutely desperate (as was the case for this trip) :) read more

I realise that you get what you pay for. Bus seemed a little run down, AC was not the best, not very clean but I was prepared for this. What I was not prepared for, was that a 15hr journey would turn into 19hrs +. I still have not reached my destination! No bad traffic, no bad weather, just a lot of detours and stops along the way. I think their route depends on how many people are on the bus and where they're going. If you have a whole day to waste, take this bus. Otherwise find another company. read more

I have never left a negative review for anything but woah, do not even think about using this company. An hour late (which generally I wouldn't care about but it gets worse) Someone is asleep in the aisle (also not my problem but probably not safe) The icing on the cake - driver is yelling on his phone AND texting. I expected bare minimum, not the best ride from Richmond to New York but next time .. I'll take the train. I am terrified as I type this. I thought I'd be able to sleep a little but I'm too concerned that I'll fly through this windshield because he's swerving as he shouts at whoever is in the other end of the phone. It began with the bus being 1 hour late in picking us up to begin our trip.The bus was old with many broke parts & pieces. The bathroom actually had toilet paper and other bodily substances backed up into the actual toilet bowl, there was graffiti on the walls, there was the lid to a syringe on the floor, ashes on the ledge and no toilet paper. The heat was on full blast for the entire 7 hour ride and we all were sweating and nauseated. I told the driver about the toilet paper being out and it was never replaced. Drug, alcohol, smoking in the bathroom, etc. I was glad to see the driver confronted the guy smoking in the bathroom. However, it was still faster than the Greyhound buses or Megabus. I have been using panda bus for about a year. Yes, the buses are dirty and the bathroom smells like dead carcass, but they get you from A to B...You get what you pay for. HOWEVER, this last trip has been totally unbelievable, miserable, depressing and downright AWFUL!!! First, my bus was supposed to pick me up at 10:45 pm. I waited in the Walmart parking lot until 12:30. The bus never came. I finally got a text from them saying that they were stopped by the police and were searched and severally delayed. They rescheduled me for two days later. Again, I waited from 10:45 till after midnight in the rain only to receive a text saying that the bus broke down and they can't fix it. Rescheduled me for the following night but sent me an email with the wrong pickup and return information. You can't reach anyone by phone and they take forever to text or email responses..... I bought tickets for this bus from Wilmington, NC, to New York City. People should be warned: this bus service does not always appear with an actual "bus." The company's vehicles and drivers are not registered; there is no guarantee of safety in any way. With a ticket for "Panda Ny Bus," you could be getting into an unregistered, unidentifiable black van with no other passengers--which is the situation I was placed in. First off, there was no official bus stop. Although we were parked near the bus station by the given address, no bus showed up. I received a call, ten minutes prior to boarding. The driver alerted me that they were not by the official bus stop, but in front of the nearby Wal-Mart. When I told him I did not see a bus there, he said that there was "no bus" and that I should just come. I approached a large black van. Besides not being a bus, the van was not registered under Panda Ny and had another company's sticker pasted onto a window. The driver got out, asked for my boarding number. I asked if this was the actual vehicle we were riding on. There were no other passengers, besides one other man that appeared to help run the business (the driver kept conferring with him). The driver handed me my ticket, which had a different company's logo printed on it. Neither of the men showed any sort of licensed/registered driver certification, even after I expressed my safety concerns. There was nothing to prove that these men were operating a Panda Ny Bus. They told me that there would be a vehicle change after we got to another location, approximately two hours away. I am a young woman in my mid-twenties. I felt very unsafe boarding this strange, unregistered vehicle with two strange men. Although the men kept telling me to hurry along and step inside, I ultimately did not end up boarding the "bus." I do not regret my decision at all. I value my personal sense of safety much more than I value a cheap bus ticket. I will never buy another Panda Ny Bus--or Wanda Bus, or any other bus company owned by the same chain--ticket in the future. read more

HORRIBLE experience. My relatives travelled tonight from Orlando to NYC. Here are their comments: people were smoking a lot of Vapes and weed and it was difficult to breath; bus is dirty, invaded with roaches; unusable nasty and stinky restroom. One guy used Raid to spray inside to kill roaches. To complete this disaster, bus finally arrived with an hour delay. read more

y'all, do not take this bus. when i go to nyc, i ALWAYS take the bus. besides greyhound, this was the worst experience i've had taking the bus to new york city. first of all, the ticket was $60. some of y'all might think that's cheap, but there are plenty of other busses that are $10, $15, $20 from dc to nyc. second, the day before my trip, i got a random text from a georgia number saying that the time was scheduled from 4:45am to 5:45am. at this point, i was worried it was a scam because i've never in my life had a company TEXT MESSAGE me to tell me something like this. so i sent a text back asking if it was a scam, and if so, i need my money back so i can get another bus because i needed to get to nyc "tomorrow". then, this random number calls me. it's a hostile woman on the phone saying that my bus was not for the 18th (tomorrow at the time) it was for the 17th (today at the time). i said, uh, NO. it's for tomorrow. then she had the nerve to suck her teeth and sigh and tell me i need to check my e-mail. i said lol, okay. i will. i sent a screenshot of how my bus was for TOMORROW at 4:45. she then calls me back, and her tone is totally changed and she's acting all sweet and saying that she apologizes for the delay of the bus. at this point, i'm kind of like, okay, whatever, i just need the damn bus. so my fiancé and i arrive at the stop, which is just a gas station. we go inside of the gas station and ask them if they know about the bus. they say it comes to the side, but really, the bus isn't supposed to send people to the gas station and that the bus company just changes their name to avoid getting in trouble. lol wtf? that just added to the sketchy-ness. (once we get on the bus, there's a sign that says oriental pearl travel, but the company was advertised as panda ny, so this claim that they change their name to evade whatever it is they could get in trouble for seems legitimate.) third, the bus didn't arrive until 6:15. so that's an hour and a half after we were initially meant to leave. and the bus is utterly filthy and just had the word "BUS" on the side in big, red, block letters. so bizarre. fourth, this bus made so many stops it was getting frustrating. i can't imagine how irritating it must've been for those that had been on the bus since georgia (we got on in virginia). we were initially supposed to arrive at 10am, we didn't get there until 12:30pm. i'd be pissed if i had a time commitment. we took panda ny back to va from nyc and the bus was 45 minutes late. this time, our expectations were low so we were pleasantly surprised when the bus looked like a legitimate service! it was clean and orderly. HOWEVER; the bus home had NO HEAT. it was freezing cold. they had been asked several times to please turn up the heat and either they didn't listen, or the heat was broken. i was wearing my three layers, gloves, scarf, mask & hood and was still cold. i couldn't believe it. we were supposed to arrive home at 1:15am and didn't get back until 3am. please avoid this company, you'll regret riding with them. super sketchy, the only reason why i'm giving them two stars and not one is because they actually got us place to place. read more
