We took a friend of ours who is at the California Veterans Home in Chula Vista to Panda Imperial for lunch and enjoyed the visit. We all got the lunch specials -- large servings of good Chinese food for a very reasonable price. My personal favorite is the kung pao squid. We'll be back! read more

This was my Dad's and I's first visit to Panda Imperial, and we were blown away, at how fantastic the noodles we ordered were! My Dad ordered the Shrimp Noodles, and I ordered the House Special Noodles. Our server, Alice, was amazing! She was so nice and accommodating. She always had a smile, and always said thank you! This Resturant has been here in Chula Visita for a long while. It's has adequate parking and a nice size dining room. With large booths and enough table for large groups. The food here has been good dining in or take-out. We have always enjoyed both visits here even our friends too. We had chow mein vegetable it comes real mushrooms which I enjoy and baby corn, cabbage, some broccoli. And more good noddles the flavor is so on point. We enjoyed it all here ribs, egg foo young! I absolutely love this place. Great staff, fast service, and in great location. I use to be a regular here until I moved, but now that I'm back in the area, I frequent this location. My go-to order is the salt and pepper chicken with fried rice. I would say it's better here and Royal Mandarin and Golden Chopsticks. Seasoned very well, and even spicy at times. Their Mongolian beef is AMAZING as well. Can't find any complaints at this establishment. read more

I used to really enjoy this place. Just last month I went for my usual shrimp fried rice, no problem. Ever since a tik tok went viral showcasing the business, the prices have been raised about 4 dollars for the things I usually eat. I'm disappointed because the food is good but now it's pricey. Came here to dine in after thrifting in Chula Vista. My family and I have been eating here and ordering catering from here for family parties for at least 10 years. If I could rate everything individually I would because the Chinese food and price for what you get is definitely 5 stars to me, it's just the ambiance that is not. The restaurant is family friendly and has a quick stop vibe (wouldn't come here on a date). We got the lunch specials and the portions were very large, which I appreciate of course because who doesn't want left overs to take home? The service from the young female employee was very friendly. I'd give 5 stars just for her. However, the food leaves a lot to be desired. I came here to try their lunch special's salt and pepper wings. It included an option of steamed or fried rice. The menu says it's hot and spicy, but it's really a paltry 0.0001 spice level out of 10. Almost undetectable level of spice. The wings had a nice crunch to them, but that's pretty much it. The garlic seasoning tasted like fish sauce and didn't adhere to the wings. Everything from the rice (wasn't short grain) and the soy sauce tasted weird. The prices are actually $1 more than it's listed on the menu. read more

Panda Imperial - Day after Christmas 2020. - Chinese Near Me - Chula Vista, California

My family and I eat here often and we consider it our "go-to" Chinese spot. I will never, EVER, EVER go here again after this weekend. Yesterday, Friday August 21, 2020, my dad placed a decent sized order as usual: chicken chop suey, beef and broccoli, salted pepper wings, and bbq pork fried rice. Everything seemed fine. Until today, Saturday August 22, 2020. We LOVE having fried rice leftovers the next day with a fried egg on top. We always do this every time we order rice from this restaurant. Never had a problem. So, as usual, my dad takes the rice out of the fridge to start prepping. The rice was DISGUSTING. It was sticky and had a DISGUSTING spider-web/rice crispy treat consistency (pictures attached). This has NEVER happened before and we didn't do anything out of the ordinary. Yes, we waited for it to cool down before placing in the fridge. No, it was no "tampered with" or anything of that matter. I decided to research this and I think we may have eaten a dish made with rice infested with pantry moths/weevils. Pictures online show a similar spider-web like consistency. If this is the case that's DISGUSTING and this restaurant certainly does not deserve its "A" grade. We will NEVER eat here again. The rice was decent, and the tea well brewed. The service was polite, though not overly attentive. The ambiance was simple and plain, and it seemed clean enough. The food however was terrible. I ordered the kumpao dinner plate substituting hot and sour soup instead of the provided egg flower. The taste of the main entree was bland and without spice. The pieces of chicken were well portioned but seemed to have an unexpected coating I had not experienced in kumpao before. I ordered the poo poo platter as well which consisted of egg rolls, wonton with cream cheese, tempura shrimp, fried gyoza, BBQ pork rib and BBQ pork. The meat was hard and inedible with not even a sweet flavor you'd expect. I had to leave it. I never leave food. The egg rolls were over salted and too perfumed, again left it. The wontons were wontons and cream cheese, the shrimp were mostly tempura, and the wonton were hard, and the filling was bland. Overall in all my years living in San Francisco, Tijuana, and Chula vista, this is the worst chinese food I've ever had. read more

The prices really surprised me because this restaurant is very cafeteria like...definitely a place more suited for take out. But as each dish was served I realized that the prices weren't that bad because the portions are huge. Steamed dumplings were ok, but I was mostly disappointed that I didn't get an authentic ginger soy dipping sauce. Instead it came with a red vinegar like thing which didn't work as well as a ginger soy rice wine vinegar. The salt and pepper shrimp were pretty solid which collaborates all the high praise for the chicken wings as they are done in the same style as the shrimp. Interestingly, they charge you $15.95 if you don't want the shell on versus $12.95 with the shell on. Well, the only way to eat salt and pepper shrimp is with the heads and shell on! They were fried well, resulting in a crispy shrimp shell versus rubbery. Shrimp with mixed vegetables was loaded with veggies. The fried rice was nothing remarkable. But service was good and if I lived in the neighborhood I would definitely choose this place for takeout. read more

Closest Chinese in my brother's area. The food is so good and plentiful. He doesn't get out so we usually pickup lots of food and he eats throughout the week. My favorite is curry chicken. Comes in tall cup like a soup and is so good. I've gotten the Kung Pao and have been very happy. I suggest giving it a try. read more

The food has always been great, but the service was terrible. I was told that my order would be ready in 30 min. I placed my order at 5:36pm. We waited and saw that after filling up my extra large tray of wings, they will take out from there to make other orders. As I witnessed this happening the ambiance was hectic. I waited an additional hour. But when I waited for 2 hours I had to cancel my $186 transaction. They didn't care since, I am sure they make their sales for the year lol since their food is delicious. We wish they would respect clients time, and our order. We wouldn't mind waiting an extra 30 min extra, but two hours was just insane. read more

One of the things I've had a hard time finding is some good orange chicken. I'm very picky and ladies and gentlemen this is finally the spot. Their orange chicken was crunchy yet smothered with the most amazing orange glaze. It was finger licking good and will plan to come back and taste everything. Oh- also request chopsticks if that's how you're used to eating your Chinese food. And the fried rice is a shade of very very deep dark brown. So disappointed. Luckily my husband will eat anything.
