By far the worst Chinese food I've ever had. My go to, Lotus express, is closed today. I decided to give this place a shot bc I know someone who orders from here all the time. My order was standard, boneless spare ribs and steamed pork dumplings. The dumplings were fine and justifies the 1 star. I could tell the ribs were deep fried making the meat hard, then it was tossed in a sickeningly sweet sauce and flavorless sauce. The vegetable fried rice was greasy and again tasteless. I want to repeat, in all my years, this was the worst Chinese food I've had. It was $18.50 + tip... a total waste of $25 I wish I would have taken a photo bc I should have known by the way it looked. read more

I have been getting food from here for decades, and it's pretty much always good. I always pick up myself, so I can't comment on the delivery and phone ordering problems others have mentioned. They have good boneless spare ribs, sesame chicken, dumplings, egg rolls and noodles. Since a fire a few years ago destroyed another Chinese restaurant three blocks down Nagle, this is the only option for several blocks. read more

I'm not sure if they have new employees but since the pandemic my brother placed an order (I didn't know) and the service was fine. The food was never the issue, the problem came in with the staff and how they would switch up pricing and were pretty rude when I inquired about it. I've been ordering from them for years! It's the closet Chinese store for me and I usually order for delivery during winter time though I also order them whenever I have Chinese food Craving. It's amazing at times and then a total miss at times. They're known for: boneless spare ribs, sweet and sour dumplings and sesame chicken. All with pork fried rice. And egg rolls My number one fave is boneless spare ribs. There's been time my boneless spare ribs were very burned black with lots of fat not cut off correctly and other times they were perfect (the sauce is amazing!!!) My number two is sweet and sour dumplings. They always put the sauce on the side, my problem is there has been time that they forget to put the sauce on my delivery bag so I'm sauceless. And the dumplings without the sauce taste doughy and flavorless.... Sesame chicken has never been a fail but I only order this when I've abused on eating the other two above and want a change. It's delicious but it's always my third option The pork fried rice is great, it's greasy but hey it's fried rice what you expect lol and I love their egg rolls, especially with soy sauce or duck sauce that they put on your bag! read more

This place is not even vaguely impressive. They've got a crapload of strikes against them. 1) There's no heat in the place other than from the kitchen! I mean, the people working there have coats on. I can only imagine in the summertime, there's no A/C!! 2) The food is worse than mediocre. Its just bad. Simple fare like chicken wings and pork fried rice shouldn't make your lips upturn and curl with disgust. AND 3) They aren't open late, EVEN ON A FRIDAY NIGHT!!! I came home around midnight on a Friday, and it was shut down, closed, fin fin and fin!! What self-respecting Chinese establishment isn't open until at LEAST 2am? C'mon. People are hungry out there!! This is literally right down the block. For cheap cleaner Chinese food you really can't go wrong. My expectations weren't much to begin with so this place def exceeded them. I typically get something regular like chicken and broccoli or hot and sour soup. Chicken wings and French fries seem to be a face as usual. They have inexpensive Chinese fast food, and the quality of food is about on par for inexpensive Chinese fast food establishments. Don't expect a gourmet meal. That said, I was very impressed when I went in there and ordered the eggplant with garlic sauce, and I was told that the eggplant isn't good this time of year, and I should order something else. Most establishments of this sort wouldn't have bothered to let the customer know that, and would have no problem serving bad vegetables. Their lunch specials also offer the choice of brown rice. Again, most inexpensive Chinese restaurants don't even have that as an option. read more

But the cashier lady's attitude today was real real rude, maybe the guy was harassing her before but the guy gave her some money she snatched it out of his hand and then she was giving him the change and she tossed the money on the counter. Pretty standard fair chinese food. At one point Panda House held down the title of best chinese food in the area, but the years haven't treated it well. They make great fried rice and pretty good dumplings. Their ingredients seem a little more fresh than everyone else but the food is really greasy. Serving sizes have also gotten smaller. I feel like its slightly more expensive than other places as well. Overall, I find it pretty average and long for the days where they stood above the rest. read more

This take out restaurant makes great vegetables. I just eat chicken & fish. The chicken seems not to be real chicken. It may be chicken but it seems like it is a compressed mixture of different parts of the chicken. It's definitely not chicken breast even thought it looks like it. The atmosphere is not for sitting down and eating. Service is good and as I said the vegetables are great. Make sure you pay attention to your order though. They are real busy answering phones and taking orders. I asked for brown rice and when I got home I had white rice and I know I asked for brown. Overall the food is good. Sometimes it seems like they have attitude but I think it is just because of the language. Once you talk to them you will see they are coo. This restaurant has been in the neighborhood for many years while others have come and gone. They are making alot of people happy. read more

Don't understand why anyone would talk badly about this place. We've been eating here for 10 years -- mostly delivery. When my wife was pregnant, they would remember to add carrots to our order even when we'd forget (for the pregnancy-cravings), at no extra charge. Now they're always giving my daughter free goodies (the little dried seaweed squares and spring rolls). They're pleasant, even when insanely busy, and even when dealing with some rude people. The food is GOOD! Like, REALLY DAMN GOOD! Never any gelled sauces or cold anything; everything tastes freshly made and not overly oily. They were recommend to be by people I trust and to be fair the vegetables taste surprisingly fresh. Their vegetable dumplings were great. I would avoid anything involving meat or sauce though. I got their steamed chicken and the chicken was not good, but not terrible. Just about every thing was really bland. The wonton soup was the most unflavored I've ever had. Then I bit into a piece that had cartilage or something and it kill what little appetite I had left. Inwood is SERIOUSLY lacking in good Chinese food but this is the best I've had at the standard price point in the hood (to me Amy's is a tad pricey). I loved the sauce on the steamed bean curd with broccoli (even though the broccoli didn't taste that great to me), and the veggie dumplings. Having tried a variety of Chinese restaurants in Inwood, this is my overall favorite thus far. I've only gone once but initial impressions were good. Hot and sour soup was fresh and not just loaded with corn starch and salt, but actually prepared, and I liked that it contained egg as an emulsifier. Vegetable dumplings were good, particularly the filling, which contained identifiable bits such as mushrooms rather than just some arbitrary ground up vegetable matter. It appears there is at least some concern for quality here, and I like that - I'll be back to try some more dishes and likely update the review accordingly. read more

As far as neighborhood dive takeout goes, Panda House is just fine by me. When I don't want to spend a lot of money or am too tired to cook, they come through. I usually order fried rice or a steamed veggie dish. Panda is always busy, so I'm under the impression that they're doing something right. They have a few tables for waiting or dining, which is a plus and I'm fairly certain that they keep an A or B rating with the city, which is always important. Hands down favorite chinese restaurant. Best chicken and broccoli and beef and Broccoli and tostones in the whole NYC.

So far their BEST dish is 'chicharrón de pollo', not too much breading and not greasy at all. Steamed chicken & broccoli is also good.

It's OK, what can I say? It's pretty standard. My favorite item is the steamed vegetable dumplings.

Panda House features pretty standard "Chinese" food that you'd find at any other place around Dyckman, with some minor differences, such as the majority of their chicken dishes being deep fried with a specific sauce poured over them causing them to taste similar to one another. I tried their steamed dumplings for the first time this week and was horribly disappointed, the dough was extremely thick compared to the ratio of the filling inside. The filling inside was disgusting, it was a small brown mound of who knows what, but it and the other 6 dumplings ended up in the trash. I had always ordered the same meal from this place whenever I was desperate enough for take out, that being their house special fried rice and broccoli and chicken (which I'm surprised they don't fry like the others) and it's decent, otherwise I'd opt out of eating anything else from this place.
