Stopped by for lunch today. I've been here a few times, including to pick up a large catering order. For being in the city, and I mean IN the city, this place is pretty clean and runs pretty well. I came during lunch rush for my usual plate order, and there was a bit of a wait, but it was not for lack of employee effort. Food was continuously coming out fresh to replenish half-empty dishes. Thus, the line took a bit longer to empty out, but all of my food was hot and fresh. They are pretty firm with keeping the bathroom code to only guests that have already ordered food, so don't expect to be able to use the bathroom and then order. I imagine that's how they keep the cleanliness and orderliness bar from slipping for such a central location. A lot of seating available too! read more

I had cheese wantons and I enjoyed all the food but have had better walnut shrimp in most other places. This place is my go to after coming out of the fashion district. I was coming out of the mall and looking for a good place to eat. There was a long line of people, so I figured I would stop by here. You can't usually go wrong with their orange chicken, which is the best. There's a lot of space and great seating available. Everything is clean and the staff is very helpful. I was able to go through the line and order food easily. I sat down and enjoyed my Orange Chicken with Fried Rice. The food was great. The manager Edmond is the most rudest person I've ever met, very unprofessional and has a bad attitude. I had to buy a $3 soda for my 4 year old to use the bathroom and she was very close to peeing on herself at the time of the encounter after I assured the manager I was prepared to not only pay but to dine in. WhoEVER eats food from Panda Express must be FRESH off the boat to the US. The rice is dry and cold. The chicken is HARD, DRY, AND COLD. It tastes like the food has been sitting out ALL DAY--and in fact, it was. If you really want some good Chinese food, go to China King at 2nd in Cheltenham, and you will be BLOWN AWAY with how fresh the food is without paying an arm and a leg. I've been hearing so much about this honey walnut shrimp at Panda Express and last Friday was the perfect oppurtunity for me to try and see if its all it cracked up to be. Well the dish was delicious. Since seafood is my thing and shrimp is the best in the seafood game. I knew that I prolly would like it being as tho I rarely met a shrimp I didn't like. My honey walnut shrimp had a nice crispy coating on the outside that was sweet but not too sweet. The glazed walnuts was the perfect consistency, it definitely added great flavor to the shrimp. Overall I think the honey walnut shrimp would pair well with rice or a side salad. Great service, the line moved really fast even during lunch hour. My dish was pretty pricey. I paid about 14.00 for my side only but for the quality of the flavor. Its worth it plus they offer other items that are pretty reasonable like orange chicken and beef and broccoli. Over the weekend, my husband and I needed our Chinese food fix; however, most restaurants in Chinatown and even American-Chinese takeout joints were currently closed during the coronavirus pandemic. As 8pm was nearing, we were suddenly reminded of the Family Meal Special that Panda Express was running. $20 for 3 entrees and 2 sides was a no-brainer. We immediately placed an order for takeout and left to go pick it up. We didn't have to wait long. Our food was ready within 15 minutes. We happily returned home and feasted on delicious firecracker shrimp, orange chicken, beef and broccoli and chow mein. Between the two of us, we had more than enough food for two meals. Panda Express is not part of our usual takeout rotation, but we will surely come back for more whenever we are craving American-Chinese food. read more

It's great to have a Panda Express downtown in the burgeoning East Market retail district, even though nearby Chinatown has so many more authentic Asian food options--but Panda dishes out food quicker and cheaper. One can't help but be impressed with how clean and pretty this Panda Express is, especially you've seen this location in its previous, dingy McDonald's incarnation. The main issue I have with this Panda Express is that a number of food options are not available for we pre-noon lunch folk. I'll stop by around 11:30am (typically considered to be time for prime lunch hours), and I haven't been able to get various sides or entrees--serving dishes are empty, even for something basic like vegetables. I haven't been to other Panda Express locations to compare with this location, and I'm not a Panda manager (who probably knows when to stock the counter with which options that sell best), but it's just a bit disappointing to an occasional customer like myself to have their choices feel limited. They have a a dish there that is just delicious, the honey walnut shrimp is amazing Everyone I go there they are either out of them and have to remake a batch or they are just down to the last serving and person in front of me orders them. I wait for them so it's a fresh batch I come here and also get the veggie Lo mein I prefer more veggies than the noddles and I always ask them to add the Teriyaki sauce on my noodles. The order I received was 1/2 full and when asking the young black employee 5/28/23 2:00 P.M after rolling her eyes she gave me attitude and said "that's all you get, if you want more get a bigger plate" when my original order was HALF EMPTY! Super busy during lunch time, long line...yet not long waiting hours. The service is fast and efficient. Coming to food, as I'm a sea food person, I loved the shrimp entree, and shrimp appetizer. It's sad they have only one option for sea food in entree, honey walnut shrimps and fried shrimp in appetizer, but it was delicious. The only issue I had with honey walnut shrimp was that it was way too sweet, but maybe the recipe is that way. I got noodles as a side, but I regretted it. The noodles are dry and hard to chew and extremely oily. The fried rice were good and the next time I go, I would always order rice as a side instead. But sometimes you just want that greasy mall-style Chinese food. This place is pretty great for that. The big appeal of this is the low price of the dishes. One entree and side starts at $6.30. Two entrees and a side starts at $7.50. You just can't beat that single digit pricing! There is a wide variety of entrees to choose from. Some are great, some are terrible. It may depend on who cooks for that day, or the possibility exists that the entree just sucks in general. They have dishes that are considered "premium" that they charge extra for. For example, the honey walnut shrimp is an extra $1 to get that entree. The place is well-lit and has ample seating. That's about all there is to say about this joint. I'm trying to figure out how this place has this many stars. It has to be the food. Sadly, the customer service is non-existent. So I just left there today and waited my ENTIRE lunch break in line 30 minutes. 20 minutes for my order to be taken and 10 more waiting to be rang up. The manager (Kacy) finally comes out to help the servers who were CLEARLY overwhelmed after several customers began yelling for him to help alleviate the line. He starts my order then walks away half way during my order without even giving me the courtesy of a I'll be right back!!! I ordered Panda Express through Postmates on Saturday. I was planning to order a medium orange chicken, but it was actually slightly cheaper to order 2 smalls. I also ordered some fried rice. All together the food cost $15 and change, and didn't include the deli and tip. I personally thought that was high for Chinese food. Anyway, the food came quickly and was really good! With how many fantastic local businesses we have in Philadelphia, when I tell you I've chosen to go to Panda Express a couple times now, it might come as a bit of a surprise. But honestly, sometimes the craving for greasy Chinese fast food just hits... If you're looking for something quick and easy (and you're not concerned about eating healthy), this is your place to go. It is not authentic Chinese food - their food is mass produced. From noodles and rice to chicken, beef and seafood dishes, the options are pretty impressive. The staff at this location is nice and attentive. During my most recent visit, I had to wait about ten minutes for one of their chicken dishes to be prepared but usually the pans are always filled. The establishment is well kept and clean. With the amount of people they have going in and out, staff doesn't seem to skip a beat with keeping the place spick and span. I'm more than content with this location and feel it can definitely be used as a model for all of the other Panda Express sites! read more

Very bad first time experience! Ordered from DoorDash as a first time customer and the employees who completed my order had the audacity to include everything--chow mein, rice, kung pao--and leave out the orange chicken! This was the main reason I had ordered the food and they left it out. As you can image, I was very irate! However, not only did they did this for one platter, but also for the kids platter as well!
