I don't go to panda often but we were at the mall and my kids wanted Chinese. Located at the large food court area, this spot had plenty of seating. You would need to walk to this location on the 2nd floor. They got through the line daily quickly and the food looked semi fresh. We just got orange chicken with chowmein. They aren't too generous with the portion size but it was enough for my kids. Orange chicken was okay, chowmein didn't taste fresh and it also was just okay. This is my favorite Panda Express in the area. Great service and a convenient private parking lot. Have never had an issue with online orders. Inside is clean and decorated with shelves of fresh refrigerated produce. I also like watching food prepared in their open kitchen. Their woks look like cauldrons! The Family Deal is such a bargain. For $29 you get 3 entrees and 2 large sides. No coupon needed. A two sides and two entree combo is $13. I prefer the fried rice over the Chow Mein noodles as the noodles are bland. ORANGE CHICKEN - the most popular entree and for me the most flavorful, even without garlic. Crunchy, sweet orange flavor, hint of ginger. Heavy on the calories though. BEEF AND BROCCOLI - very tasty, think sauce. Just wish they'd trim off more broccoli stalk. EGGPLANT AND FRIED TOFU - they can make this without garlic. Maybe that's why it lacked flavor. However this particular branch had one of the most frustrating/difficult pickup method I'd seen so far so hopefully they can just go back to "normal" soon or figure out a better way for online pickup. For now, NEVER order online at this location, it's better to order inside, pay in person, and wait for them to call your number at the pickup point. They don't seem to prepare until they check your order from your phone, and the worst part is that it's very difficult to get someone to even check your mobile order through the glass. Last time I was here I ended up arguing with one of the cashiers and I would like to sincerely apologize. I was ignored, frustrated, waiting 20 min past my pickup time, which was not the first time. I was only asking very intensely (semi-yelling) what they would suggest that I do in order to have my food prepared for pickup on time, but still, it was wrong of me to interrogate someone like that. I would say that in the past I did see another customer angrily press the doorbell relentlessly and force himself into the pickup door to get someone's attention. Got a coupon in the mail for Panda so why not use it? I'm all about a deal so off I went! There was one other person walking out as I was walking in otherwise the place was empty of customers. I was disappointed to find out they no longer have Sweet Fire Chicken Breast. Since when??? Total sad face. I always get a 2 option plate along with some noodles and some Sweet Fire Chicken and what ever other rando item sounds good. Not today though! They had a couple of bowls with different items in them however, only 3 looked fresh. The rest of the options look dried out as if they'd been under a heat lamp for 1/2 the day, yuck. I opted for Orange Chicken, Zucchini Chicken and Chow Mien which was good for what it was worth being that I got a deal. CHEAP CHINESE FOOD Craving Chinese food, so I rendezvoused with a friend here. They have a small parking lot, just below La Grange, so we pulled in next to each other. The restaurant was sparkling clean, and they followed every protocol. Good thing we had already ordered online because this place had a steady stream of customers. Due to the latest mandate, they didn't have outdoor seating, so we sat in our respective cars, opened our windows and caught up as we ate. This location never fails to disappoint. Panda is great but one of this shop's workers not so much. She always give small portions which ends up being the small end pieces where it's only batter. Half of the small scoop is this. I'm lucky if there's a larger piece that is sticking out of the spoon and she doesn't whip it back into the wok. Maybe it's the time I go but she's always there during the day. One time, I asked another worker for a little more orange chicken after the tray was handed off and she swooped in and said they would only give a little more if I filled out a survey. I used to eat Panda Express multiple times a week back in college and the Original Orange Chicken was always my go-to. Fast forward a few years and now that I'm vegan, I couldn't tell you the last time I ate at Panda. Thankfully though, Beyond Meat partnered up with Panda Express to bring us a fully vegan version of the classic orange chicken and let me tell you, it's impressive! The crunchy exterior and sweet, slightly spicy sauce is exactly how I remembered it from my college days. The inside has a great texture, although it is a tiny bit spongey. Regardless, it's a completely nostalgic and satisfying bite that I wasn't sure I'd ever get again at Panda Express. Not to mention their Tofu and Eggplant entree is fully vegan and delicious as well, along with their chow mein, steamed vegetable and rice sides. This location was super busy at lunchtime, but it only took around 10 minutes from start to finish to have my food in hand. Service was efficient and friendly. I have been going to this business for about 12 years now. It is usually a smooth experience. There are more transients now than before but some can get violent in the parking area. I had one look into my vehicle and that made me angry since I have had my window smashed in before. I parked right behind the panda express to get some orange chicken and I wanted to talk to the manager of panda express just so I could get the contact info of who the property manager of the block was to hire a guard to watch the vehicles. The manager at Panda treated it as if it was a joke, didn't take this issue seriously at all and refused to give me any information email/phone number so I could contact the property manager in charge. told me to call the cops and laughed that they wont even show up if I did. Basically just didn't want to deal with me a concerned long time costumer or give any serious attention to the problem. Had this "well it sucks to be you attitude" I am not going to walk inside and come out to a smashed window that costs over $500 dollars to repair for some 5 dollar orange chicken. The food is okay at best, but if you're in a pinch and craving Chinese, I guess it will suffice. I like the broccoli beef, chow mein, and the eggplant tofu without the eggplant. The best bang for your buck is the plate with one base and two entrees for around $7.50. We ate here once and it was quite loud so I would recommend taking this to go. read more
