Other than stopping by a Panda Express through many of America's airports, I had not ever stopped in a physical location until this one in Lafayette opened up. To sum these up, If McDonald's ever starting serving Chinese, this is what it would taste like. That's not necessarily a bad thing but it just isn't the best. The selection here has also been pretty limited at times and I've even had them tell me "we are out of that today", so I don't know if it's a financial issue or a purchasing one or they just can't plan well enough on what to make. Besides that, the food has been fairly fresh but I have had a few pieces of the teriyaki chicken where it was really fatty so I'm hoping those are isolated batches or I'll drop this to 2 stars next time it happens. I appreciate the manager politely reaching out to me to rectify my previous experience. I went there for lunch today and the food was so much better this time around, everything was perfectly cooked and came out quickly at the drive thru. Everything I needed was in the bag, including my fortune cookie ;) if every experience could be like this then the 5 stars are well deserved! I order from This Panda Express often. They have made some mistakes which is no problem, everyone does. I called to let them know that I had no shrimp when I ordered the steak and shrimp. The manager stated "that's impossible, we always put two in every order" instead of taking the blame for a mistake. The worst customer service from any Panda Express I've ever been to. They also shorted me on my orange chicken but I didn't mention it as it was pointless to try to get through to someone who doesn't care about the customers. She then proceeded to lie because I called her out on what she said and tried to pretend she didn't understand what she said. The food is fine, it's consistent with every other Panda Express I've eaten at. It's very Americanized Chinese food, know what to expect. My low rating is for their inconsistent portion sizes. They get very, VERY skimpy during the lunch rush. I realize it sucks to have people park and have to run their food out to them, but it's not fair or sound business judgement to make customers pay full price for what turns out to be 2/3 or even 1/2 the usual amount of food. One of the worst ran chain restaurants in Lafayette. From the top-down, this place is just bad. Management simply does not care about customer service or professionalism, and it shows in the attitude/efficiency of the staff and the appearance of the restaurant itself. Quick rundown of negatives (I could write more but not wanting to write a book). -Starting off; their ice machine was down for the fountain drinks, which was untold until after I purchased drink. I was then presented with a metal bucket and ladle...only it hadn't been attended to so it was nothing but water. -Continuous wrong orders...it's rare they actually get it correct if you order more than 1 thing. -Napkins & fortune cookies seem to be only optional if you specifically request them. -Constant dirty tables. -Slowest PE drive-thru I've ever witnessed. I've been to multiple locations. -They've closed the lobby and just kept drive-thru open for multiple reasons; but I'd bet money they just didn't want to deal with customers or didn't have enough workers to run the lobby that day. -and simply the rude attitude of most the staff, some are exceptions to this and I appreciated them being polite. I recently watched a young girl bust into tears, cuss very loudly at coworkers, and quit mid-shift while the manager just watched and sat at a booth talking to someone she knew. She simply laughed it off and said "I gotta deal with this sh*t every other day, haha." One girl went to check on the upset one outside but another staff stopped her & said "Don't go out there. Just leave her." Unreal. Now, I love Panda Express and will continue to eat there in other cities...but after the constant bad experiences. If I were able to select lower than 1-star, I would. I placed an order through the WAITR app. Order included fried rice, chow mien, honey sesame chicken breast & broccoli beef with the request for soy sauce, teriyaki sauce and for & napkins. About the only thing that I was pleased with was the fork and napkins. Let me start by saying - the chow mien was very dry (to be honest - I would say that these were left over from the day before), I didn't received the honey sesame chicken breast, The broccoli beef had broccoli that was almost all "yellow" (turning yellow because the broccoli is old) and the taste was not what I have experienced ever. As for the soy & teriyaki sauce - they were not included (of course). Like I said - the only thing that was acceptable was the fork & napkin. That being said, the drive through with no wait makes up for the mediocre quality. This Panda Express used to be so good when I lived in the Lafayette area a few years back. When I come back to town I like to stop by but unfortunately every single time I've been back since Covid the food and service has been awful. Today I threw out pretty much a full plate! The noodles were very dry and made up primarily of cabbage and huge chunks of celery, and the teriyaki chicken had a strange flavor. Disappointing because I know how good it can be! I have been coming to this location ever since it first opened, and it was my family's favorite for a long time. But every time, the food gets worse. We stopped coming here for a while because of that reason, but today my mom and I decided to eat here. This experience doesn't deserve even a single star. The guy serving us was very polite, and gave us exactly what we wanted. But when we got to eating the food, the fried rice was completely flavorless, and the Kung Pao Chicken had more vegetables than the chicken. We kept eating for a while until a woman in all black, who was holding some papers, came to ask everyone how the food was. My mother and I told her about the rice and she said she would go taste it. Once she was back she said the rice tasted fine and that she could give us fresh rice if we wanted, which we agreed to. The rice she brought us was not fresh and tasted exactly the same. Right after she walked to the kitchen, she also proceeded to, very loudly, make fun of my mother's response to her, to which the whole staff laughed. Food was delicious, but staff was rude. It was my first time there and the guy behind the counter didn't want to explain how things worked. Anyway, got my food and sat in the booth nearest the drink fountain. Halfway through my meal, my friend with me told me that there was a bug on my neck. I flicked it off, freaking out, only to realize it was a roach. My appetite immediately went away and I got up to throw my meal away. Although the drive through line wait was long, we didn't mind. We ordered two entrees with two drinks. Both entrees were ordered correctly and charged correctly but didn't come that way. Without being able to go inside due to COVID, we were left with someone else's food. Not to mention the portions were not typical of this location and were also cold. Not a bad place to grab something quick, especially if you are a rice eater. Growing up in an asian family, I pretty much eat rice at every meal! Hands down my favorite Asian food restaurant! Although the portions to prices ratio isn't impressive there's a massive flavor explosion for every entree' and did i mention NO MSG!!! I'm from AZ and had eaten at this restaurant in my childhood. When I heard they were coming to Lafayette I was sceptical they would change something for it to be "Louisiana friendly" but after living in this state for almost 10 years I can say the recipes stayed true to form. I have eaten there twice in the last few days. Both times I ordered at the counter. This is preferable to the drive thru because you can see the variety of food and better yet get a sample if you are unsure of what you want. My recommendation is the plate which comes with a side and two selections rather than a bowl or for takeout for a group they have the take out boxes Start by picking your side rice or noodles. I prefer noodles and always add some soy to them anywhere. I've tried the angus beef, the chicken and green beans, the walnut shrimp, and the orange chicken. Each one was hot and well prepared. The service was a little slow because some popular items were running out as they were really busy. They are continually cooking right behind the servers in an open kitchen. The good thing about this was the food was fresh and hot. There were plenty of choices if you did not want to wait. The walnut shrimp was a little sweet. I knew that as I sampled it but the whole order was a lot. Beef was really good and the green beans were stir fried crisp. I enjoyed the Orange chicken which is also a sweet sauce but the Orange tones it down. I was not a fan of the spring rolls. They were cold and pretty tasteless and could not be helped by the sweet and sour sauce that was too sweet. Overall I really enjoyed the food and will definitely go again. read more
