This unassuming little place is the epitome of a quaint and cozy cafe. It seats about 20 to 30 and it's one of those "order at the counter" places, which is just fine with me. I love a laid back kind of place especially when the food is the star, and that's just the case at Namwan. I've had the Pad Thai, egg rolls, spring rolls and the Tom Yum soup. All were excellent with the Pad Thai being my very favorite. Here's a tip-if you aren't a wimp about spicy ask for your dish of choice Thai hot. I thought I knew what spicy was. This is breaking out a sweat, eyes watering, burn your face off holy mother of the lord spicy and I could not wait for the next bite. Was I even alive before I had Pad Thai Thai hot?! Was I?! I really don't think I was. If you're a little more reserved than that, just order it mild or medium spice (white girl spicy). Small cozy spot in a developing area. You order at the counter, can sit inside, and they had calming music on. I ordered the chicken (non-fried) Spring Rolls, and the Tofu Pad Thai with a little spice and they were both delicious . The Pad Thai came with crushed peanuts and a lime wedge which complimented it perfectly and the spring Rolls came with a vinaigrette type sauce that was great. Would recommend !! read more

I almost always order Tom yum soup w/ shrimp at any Thai restaurant and Namwan makes it very tasty and authentic! The broth looks clear, yet it holds so much flavor. You can see and taste the lemongrass, onions and cilantro in the soup. The Drunken noodles tasted a bit off flavor-wise, but the noodles were perfectly cooked. My friend wanted to try the fried chicken in a spicy garlic glaze and it wasn't what she was expecting, but it didn't taste bad. The negative review on Yelp does not accurately depict the food Namwan offers because 1. the customer had a bad experience with wait time 2. her rating were based solely on that bad experience so I will not give it merit for the food that Namwan offers. With that said, here's my review of the food at Namwan. I have experienced many Thai restaurants in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette and I have to say, Namwan is the best when it comes to the food. I have never dined in the restaurant and have always order take outs due to time restraints. Let me tell you, most of the restaurants I enjoy have terrible take outs. The food either lost its wow factor on the way home or just doesn't taste the same. The flavors are always spot on and each meal is as consistent as the last. This is always my go-to restaurant when I'm in Youngsville. I'll definitely find time to stop by for a dine in experience. I've ordered take-outs about a dozen times now and I'll continue to go back! I was looking forward to having a Thai restaurant so close, but after waiting 30 mins for 2 veggie spring rolls I realized I could have easily driven a little further and been at home by the time I received my order. To top it off the veggie spring rolls I order were in fact chicken spring rolls. I called the restaurant to let them know and was given excuses with an offer to comp my next visit. It pains me to give such a low review. The first few times we went here the food was authentic and amazing. Unfortunately the quality has slowly degraded to average at best. Tonight the curry was much more like soup and the containers were only partially full. We could not even taste a hint of coconut milk in the green curry and seemed much more like a base of chicken broth. It is disappointing that what was once the best Thai food since we were in Thailand has fallen so far to Americanized chicken soup with some abnormal vegetables in it. read more

This place is very clean! I loved the artwork. My husband and I ordered several entrees and they were all delicious. There was a steady stream of people coming in but the place never felt too packed.
