For the second week in a row, ordering ahead and picking up the order at the location, they didn't give me the full order. It seems the staff can't quite get it right for reading the order ticket. We go here frequently, but no longer. It's not hard to ensure pickup orders are fully packed for pickup. And when you can't get through on the phone to express the concern, it means the restaurant really doesn't care enough about the quality of service. read more

I really am disappointed with this place. I just paid $10 bucks for a plate of rice and some chicken which I was ok with But to be refused a cup of water and more than one packet of soy sauce is really a bad experience. Highly disappointed with the service from the staff at this location. We walked in and their entrance is blacked with a table and a plexiglass shield for COVID. No one was there to greet us, instead we were yelled at from the food area to put a mask on which was no problem, we get it.. We put a mask on and they never came to take our order or even acknowledge us after yelling to put a mask on. After waiting 10 minutes WITH A MASK ON, we left and went to McDonalds for lunch. Well when I hit the NO THANKS OPTION it charges me $1 I kept going back several times to delete the covid 19 $1 charge only to keep doing it when I clicked NO THANKS. I've been coming to this Panda Express for almost 1 year about now. Each time has been great. This one tastes better than many other pandas I've tried. The best time is when they cook a brand new batch. 11:30-noon is always good before the infamous "rush." Then there always seems to be another rush at evening times sporadically. But the lines are QUICK!....if you get stuck in one. And it's never panda's fault. It's usually an indecisive mom who wants to taste every item, or can't decide which dish, or ordering for an entire school team.....jeez. Price: super cheap compared to a full sit down restaurant Environment: is great for kids and adults indoor and outdoors....plenty of seating. There's a little patio section and Ice cream is next door. Food: it's usually consistent and fresh unless you show up before they close. This panda has a lot of traffic, so they are always cooking fresh batches. Don't expect this place to be a gourmet style Chinese restaurant. This is quick, on the go! Food and service are normally fine. I can forgive them serving the dregs of the items because they were closing in 15 minutes. HOWEVER - after I ordered food for the family and sat down to eat, I was informed that the bathrooms were closed because they were going to clean them. My son needed to use the restroom and wash his hands. "Sorry - there is water on the floor - we are about to clean them." was the reply. I get it. The closing crew wants to get home. That said, the bathroom should be available at all times. Further, after a parent asks for the restroom to be opened, the crew should have been focused on customer service and customer health / sanitation needs. I've eaten here at least 20 times if not more. It's always tasty and even when they're slammed during lunch the wait isn't ever more than about 5-10 minutes from start to finish. The food is excellent for a quick wok style Chinese "pick your items" kind of place. The staff is usually friendly but they have their ups and downs. To be clear, I don't come here for entertaining staff , I come for the food and quick service. I've never had anyone be rude to me but I have had a few clueless crew members at times. Again, as long as they can dish out my food correctly I don't care. The place is really clean and there's plenty of parking. The big advantage for me is they're open late, 10 pm most days. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because they never have Beijing Beef when I happen to come in. I've had to wait for it to be made the last 3 times. I'm ok with waiting and it's my favorite..... But if it were ready and waiting like everything else this would be a 5 star in my book. Having spent many years with Yelp as an Elite reviewer, traveling nationally on business, I've always been a proponent of the Panda Express sales model. However, as much as I enjoy their consistently good menu options, service does play a role; for me, 50% of my opinion of restaurant management gets back to management's ongoing training regarding direct client contacts and how to manage them. For the first time, and at the Ladera store, I experienced poor customer service. With only three customers in front of us, we spent nearly half an hour before our order was given to us. My wife ordered vegetable spring rolls, an item that had evidently run out. I not only paid for our food up front, we then waited nearly twenty minutes more before they finally finished our order. And during that entire period noone took a moment to advise us of how long we'd be waiting, or even acknowledge our wait. No "Sorry for the long wait... could we get you a drink?".... or any warning that our food would be sitting on their prep-counter with orders and handlers moving it back and forth. When our order finally given to us, I shared with the young lady our situation. Her comment was that she was only an associate. When I mentioned the store manager possibly getting involved, she evidently didn't understand. I even said we'd take our food and eat outside. (as in, "We'll expect the manager to stop by"...?) Nothing... I've gone online to see how PE handles issues. I was a bit concerned with what I saw. So because the staff didn't know how to recognize this type of issue, my meal was occupied thinking about the ineptitude of the store manager. And therein is how service can account for at least 50% of one's opinion of a food service location. Great sales model........ poor management at the store level. read more

I came into Panda Express with my sister and when we walked in we were immediately greeted by a rude employee who asked for 1 of us too stand outside and we understood why this was necessary due to COVID but he did not have to say it in a rude manner. When I went up to order I ordered my (Noodles with extra-orange chicken) but the person who was serving us denied the request for extra orange chicken which a unusual thing to do and they didn't explain why. We have been coming to Panda Express for quite some time. We've liked your staff in the past, Alex and Thai were great people. The store seems even better run now with Margaret as the manager and of course Burella is always hard working and an amazing employee. We love coming there more than ever. Maryjean is a sweetheart and so are the other staff members. Even the cooks always have a smile and hello for us. We have gone to other Panda Express locations but none are as clean nor the food as fresh. Margaret always makes sure everything is super fresh for all the customers and works with passion at the counter to make sure people leave happy. We are just another one of those happy customers and are grateful to these people and great location. This is our favorite lunch spot and sometimes we even come to get dinner to go. Without staff like this the place would not be anything like it is. We don't always get the time to go out of our way to thank them but we want them to know they are appreciated and respected for the way they work so hard and with such warmth. I panicked and called them to tell them not to clean out the trash can in the one I threw my trays away in, and luckily they didn't do it and waited for me to come. When we arrived there, I walked up to the door and one of the very kind employees opened (I assume) many boxes just to find the one that had my trays in them. This probably could've just been a Quick Tip but, you know, whatever... I'll just say this location always seems to have hot & fresh options available. Most of the other Panda Express' I go to leave the rotting remains of the day's food sitting in a sad clump in the center of the tray, but this spot seems to have piping hot, fresh food throughout the day. At this particular location of Panda Express in Ladera Ranch California I was third in line waiting to go to the counter to get my food and it took about a half an hour until it was our turn. The workers there were ignoring the customers when they asked a question and it took forever for them to take someone's order. It looked like they were going back and forth from the register to the counter and they were not doing anything for the customers they were minding their own business. The line was out the door almost into the street and the lady in front of me and I were raging together about how rude these workers were. Eventually they took my order and I got my food. For the service being so bad the food was really good. I would recommend calling ahead of time so when you get there your order is ready. This place is a ripoff! Do not come to this location. I was here yesterday at 12/5/16 at 5pm and was served by this Asian lady. Boy she was so stingy and rude. I ask her for all chow mein and she gave me a small portion and then proceeded to scoop back some noodles from my plate back into the bin. I ordered 3 items and got little scoops of each item, not even a whole scoop. I asked for a bit more and this lady stared me down and said, "what else do you want!" Just like I was trying to steal her first born. I requested they put my honey walnut in the box but she made the mistake and put it on the tray. She told me that they are not allowed to put food back in the tray. This is pure BS because you did it to about 5-7 strands of noodles just a minute earlier when you thought I got too much. Not sure why this lady was tripping, she even was hostile to a customer before me and refused to give her fresh orange chicken that was just made and gave her the leftover portion which was about 75% of a scoop. It's not hard to tell that they under scoop food here because they employees are stealing your portion so they can take it home without the district manager knowing what is going on. I can't recommend this particular location due to this. They must think everyone that lives in Ladera Ranch are idiots. read more
