Tried picking out the burnt pieces but had to stop because it was all burnt. Burnt eggs
Kasey S.

I went to this certain Panda because I was shopping in the area and just wanted something quick to take home. Once I got home and opened my large fried rice I noticed it was very dark. I took a bite and it tasted burnt. I looked through my rice and noticed some eggs were burnt and the rice. I've been eating Aaren Panda Express for years!!!!! And this has never happened. Shame ooh the workers for serving burnt food to people in the drive through.

Kung Pao Chicken. Spicy, but not as good as the Orange Chicken!
Adam S.

Great place to take kids, but the food is just ok. Half the portion size, half the taste for half the cost of normal Chinese food. This location is always clean inside and is a great place to grab a table. I remember PE being better in the past. On my last visit, I ordered a bowl with Kung Pao Chicken. That's normally a dish you cannot mess-up. This chicken was spicy with the black peppers, but did not have much taste beyond that. The entree still came with about a cup of rice, but only a small portion of Kung Pao Chicken. My teenage daughter likes PE, and orders a plate with Orange Chicken and rangoon. I have to admit, I did like the PE signature dish, Orange Chicken, over my Kung Pao Chicken. My daughter likes ordering noodles, but told me on our last visit the noodles tasted like they had been sitting out for awhile. PE does take advantage of their signature dish by offering new, similar sweet-sauce dishes, such as Honey Walnut Shrimp and Sweetfire Chcken. PE will offer samples before you order. I do like that calories are listed on the menu. Overall cost is not bad, but remember that you are paying half for half the size of a normal Chinese restaurant entree. I did like the "Panda Passion" iced tea on my last visit, and drinks are self-serve. Overall, I would give PE 2 stars, but add another because of the Orange Chicken my daughter enjoys.

Tiny hard nuggets of orange chicken

I've been eating Panda for years but first time at this location. I'm shocked by how terrible the food quality is and how pitifully small the food portions. I ordered the the Black Pepper Angus Steak and I got 2 tiny pieces of meat in a pile of mushy overcooked vegetables. The orange chicken was all small pieces that were 90% breading and almost no chicken. After spitting out two pieces that were hard and inedible, I gave up. The crab Rangoons were shriveled and malformed, and the second one I bit into was so over fried I had to spit that out too. I can't remember ever having to literally spit food out because it was so disgusting. If I were Panda Express I'd seriously shut this place down until they get their act together. Whoever is managing this location is either incompetent or just doesn't give a rat's a$$. The guy at the counter must have called me "boss" at least 10 times, but if I really was his boss I'd fire him for serving this hot garbage to a customer. Terrible, just terrible.

Two words: Absolutely spectacular! I hadn't eaten in a few days (long story) and I found myself in…read moreKaty on a Friday so I did a quick Yelp search and came upon this place. As I dug deeper, I read Jando's glowing review word-for-word and found myself salivating. Well, I ventured out to S. Mason for lunch, found the place easily, appreciated the ample and free parking, and walked in. I had read before that they used to be closed on Tuesdays and Saturdays, but now they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays but open for dinner on Saturdays. (See my photos.) Anyhow, we walked in and found the place homey. Nothing fancy - just a nice, clean, homey Malaysian restaurant. Not too big, and not too small. We placed our order of roti canai, stir fried flat rice noodles, seafood sizzling tofu, and topped it off with a Malaysian milk tea. Oh my - we were satisfied and stuffed as a party of 2. We ended up boxing up almost 40% of the meal. The roti was near perfection - crispy, hot, flaky. The dipping sauce was perfectly seasoned with the right amount of heat. It included chunks of chicken and potato. You must absolutely order this one. I love me some stir fried flat rice noodles so we got that one with chicken. Overall, it was excellent. Portions were a tad smaller than I would like for the price. Also it could use a little bit of hot sauce so we asked for a side of sriracha which they gladly and quickly brought. The sizzling tofu - OMG so good. I can't even explain it. I just love it so much and the portions are huge. I'm not sure what the vegetable flavor would taste like but we tried the seafood one and have no regrets. Lastly the milk tea was just because we felt like splurging and it was also a great decision. The tea flavor itself is deep and the overall drink is very nice. We got it iced. And an honorable mention - we ran into Uncle Chin (at least we assume it was Uncle Chin) and told him his food was amazing. I think he really appreciated it. He seems like a super nice guy and I want his business to do really well. If that wasn't Uncle Chin then we talked to a random person and raved about the food... Many thanks for Jando for the raving review that convinced me to try this place. Loved it and would absolutely come back as soon as possible!

It gives the place a very homey feel. The servers were all super friendly and attentive and the owner was also very kind and checked on us a few times. The food and drinks were all delicious, good portions, and prices were reasonable. Everything came out in a timely manner. The drinks took a little longer, but it wasn't a big deal. We also ordered a noodle dish that I forgot to take a picture of. One thing to note: I wouldn't recommend using the restroom if you can avoid it. My little one really had to go and it wasn't clean at all or well kept which was a bit of a downside especially with a kid. Overall, we had a great experience and I'm glad we finally tried it.

Food and drinks: This place has well designed menu that lets you easily choose from many different dishes. There is something for everyone here, from soups to shareable dishes, noodle options, and variety of meats. The spice levels are added for awareness. The food was very flavoursome, well seasoned and balanced. All foods had traditional flavours to them. You can choose flavoured green teas to accompany your meal. Pricing: $$ - definitely worth it for the taste, quality and quantity of food served.

Service was spot on, quick, and we got our food in what felt like maybe a few minutes. We started off with pork dumplings for the kiddo, which he INHALED in moments. For entrees, we split the orange chicken and the Spicy/Numbing Pot. The orange chicken was spot on. The sauce was sweet but not painfully sweet or thick/clumpy. Really nice orange flavor and tender chicken. So much fun eating it since it is gluten free! Our kiddo also devoured this dish! Mild - not spicy at all! The Spicy Numbing Pot, while a little oily/greasy on the bottom, was still delicious! I appreciated that it wasn't knock your socks off spicy - it had a solid kick, and so flavorful. I love eating dishes with Sichuan Pepper; it has a lot of flavor, and the tingling is so much fun. This dish was perfect with some rice, and it wasn't too heavy for the middle of the day. The prices were really reasonable, and there was enough food for leftovers which we ate later that night. Our only regret is not getting the duck appetizer, but we will be sure to get it next time. We can't wait to go back, and Tiger Noodle will happily be in regular rotation for our family! You can't go wrong!

This place fills up super easily so I would definitely recommend making a reservation. I came here with a couple of cousins and we ordered: the salt & pepper seafood which you can choose from squid, cod, shrimp or combination so we got the combo but they were out of squid that day, stir fried eggplant with green beans, braised beef brisket, stir fried intestines, and 1/2 of a peking duck. This all comes with complimentary white rice and the duck comes with complimentary stir fried duck bones. Everything was so delicious and the food came out very fast! I would recommend this restaurant and definitely plan on coming back soon!

However when i entered into their Katy location, several workers saw us and ignored us, despite having only 2 small tables filled on a Friday night. We had called ahead and made reservations for a large table of 12 so they put us in a private room w 2 round tables. But we sat at the larger one. We got notice that 2 of our attendees couldn't make it so we let them know and they said that because of this we couldn't sit inside this room and we would have to move outside (but we'd all started drinking and ordering at this point) - I asked why? There were no other ppl here and we all got settled in. The head person came and said we have to pay extra to stay in this room, if we chose to. I didn't understand why- again it's Friday 7pm and they are empty! So we moved tables outside the room to main dining. They said they couldn't put out tables together and we have to sit next to each other.... Needles to say, it was annoying. We ordered food and it was very slow despite no customers. Portions are super small, lacked traditional tastes that the previous restaurant had and way more expensive. For 10 people we spent around $600. I don't mind paying as long as the food is good. It was very Americanized, small portions and w horrible service, it was disappointing to say the least. We won't be going again!

hunan kitchen has been a staple for yearssss, truly my fav restaurant ever and hands down the best…read morechinese food i've had!! the interior has plenty of seating, making it great for both family dinners and group gatherings. the owners are a couple: a super friendly woman and the diligent chef. the service is always attentive and fast and the food comes out SOOO quickly. portions are also huuuge at consistently high quality. what really sets this place apart is the depth of flavor, the spice levels are just right. you taste the chili, sichuan peppercorn, and mala fragrances, along with that unmistakable wok hei!! nothing feels muted or overly aggressive. - one must-order is the hunan bbq fish (君山烤鱼). at just over $30, ITS SUCH A STEALLL for what you get: an entire seabass served in a massive chafing dish, surrounded by a medley of vegetables like cauliflower, potatoes, lotus root, and peppers. the fish is tender and flaky, not overly salty or spicy, but infused with a beautifully fragrant mala heat. it's perfect for celebratory meals or sharing with a big group - the sautéed preserved pork with dried smoked bamboo shoots (烟笋炒腊肉) is an absolute classic. the cured pork belly has an intense smokiness that hits you immediately, with alternating bites of rich fatty pieces and deeply savory lean cuts. the bamboo shoots add texture and soak up all that flavor - their poached sliced beef in hot chili oil (水煮牛肉) is another standout. the beef is incredibly succulent, swimming in a chili oil broth that's bursting with aroma without being overwhelming. this dish can often be too oily or salty elsewhere, but hunan kitchen nails the balance! - the sauteed diced chicken with chili pepper (辣子鸡) is my all time FAVVV and something i've loved since growing up. the chicken is perfectly crispy and crunchy while staying juicy on the inside. paired with dried chilies and peppercorns, the numbing spice slowly creeps in and builds as you eat. its ADDICTING in the most dangerous way, and i genuinely cannot stop eating it every time - the stir-fried diced chicken with green peppercorn (青花椒鸡丁) offers a slightly different flavor profile that i really love. the chicken is tender, and the green peppercorn brings a refreshing, citrusy, almost electric numbing sensation that feels lighter and brighter compared to red chilies. it's bold and a really fun contrast to some of the other dishes - for something non spicy, the seafood and japanese tofu (海鲜玉子豆腐) is PURE COMFORT FOOD for me. the tofu is lightly crisped on the outside but sooo silky inside, topped with soft fish fillets, huge shrimp, and a rich, glossy sauce packed with umami. i ascend every single time i eat it LOL overall, hunan kitchen is insanely worth it for the price. the portions are massive, the quality is consistently high, and for how authentic and flavorful the food is, it's honestly such a steal. you get way more than what you pay for, especially when ordering family style, and they even offer lunch specials, which makes it easy to come back often for a quick meal. it's such an underrated spot in katy and i wish more people talked about it :') this place deserves way more love!!
