This is one of the few restaurants that appear to be over-staffed with employees but still provide slow service and bad attitudes. Time of day often dictates the quality of the food. If you eat there at an off time, expect the food to look dried out and generally nasty. Eating at peak times helps to ensure fresher food due to turnover, but the flipside is that the wait time is slow. read more

Went. That is about it. The line had about 8 people when we got there about 6:45 last night. Took about 30 minutes to get served. But then there were about 8 people in the checkout line. Three of the four staff were working hard. But the line doubled. The 2 servers on the line had to server, move the food from the cooks, run the register and the drive through. They were out of 1/2 of the dishes. Just empty steel bowls. So 40 minutes in we get the food. Get home. And as the picture shows, All I go in the broccoli was about 6 inches of 1/4 inch stems. Now crowns like the pictures. 4 pieces of steak. And all bland as white bread. It wasn't worth $8.00 plus the 1.25, because there was no chicken. Overall it sucked. It was a rip off. Like I said, the two women and the big guy at the first wok were really cranking. Not sure what the 4th guy was doing. The management set this up this way. For their employees to fail. The food is always good here my favorite is the honey walnut shrimp and orange chicken. Almost as good as the high priced restaurant I've had those. The service is good, sometimes you have to wait while they make your favorites or if they are short staffed, but otherwise very good. The quality has gone down somewhat since my review years ago. The portions and freshness have been inconsistent. I also seem to get food that is not so fresh if I don't make a donation for the cause they support. They always ask customers for donations during every order. Honestly, it's annoying. OMG!!! So I've only been a fan of Panda Express for almost a year now. I had no idea I was missing out on all this goodness. But I must say all Panda Express restaurants are not created equal. But hey... this location right here is the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!! My babe and I came here on Sunday before we took our road trip back home. I didn't want anything heavy and with me driving a salad really wasn't an option. Hey...there's a Panda Express my babe said. He knows how much I love Panda Express, so to spot this just before the highway I was super duper excited!!! So yeah, I think this area is fairly new, because I visited a little over a year ago and I definitely don't remember seeing this area as developed as it is now. Panda Express is gorgeous inside. It even looks brand spanking new!! I'm not sure when they opened to the public, but we visited about noon and there was no wait in line. So I'm not sure if it's super popular yet...but trust it probably will if they keep serving up the freshness I had on Sunday!! We were greeted immediately and the awesome aromas of the foods made me feel more excited and delighted to try this location. We tried a few samples and everything was so good!!! But while we were sampling, we noticed about three other parties came in...I'd like to think we brought in the crowd. :) Nevertheless, let's order before we lose our place in line babe (I thought to myself). My babe had the steak bowl with fried rice and I had the black pepper chicken with a little bit of rice at the bottom followed by steamed veggies (cabbage, carrots, broccoli) and topped it off with the black pepper chicken (wok cooked and a healthy entree choice). The freshness was incomparable than any PE I have ever tried. Seemingly, I live in the Hampton Roads area and there are at least five PE restaurants and as of now I only have one favorite, the others are mediocre. So yeah...if you don't like one PE it doesn't mean you will not like another. So don't judge them all the same. The employees were punctual and attentive and offered other items. I'd like to think they were in tip top shape to be a fairly newly opened restaurant. Not so much as friendly, but I did catch a few smiles here and there. But that's no biggie...as long as they were not rude and unsanitary then I'm good! I didn't check the restrooms, but the restaurant itself was super clean. TV's are present and there is ample seating in the dining area. There is also a drive-thru available. The restaurant is kind of tucked away, but once you spot it...whoooooop there it is!! Went in for some lunch today and got a normal bowl of fried rice and chicken, except today for some reason whoever it was that made my bowl under filled it completely. I got a pitiful scoop of fried rice and 4 maybe 5 pieces of chicken on top; it was disappointing to say the least. To top it all off when I finally ate my meal and ate my chicken, it was mushy and either over cooked or left out too long, bland and flavorless. This location is by far the best one in our area that we have visited. I love the Sweetfire chicken breast and really like the Beijing beef with fried rice as my side. My wife always gets the Kung pao chicken and we both always enjoy it wen go. Even the kids like the fried rice and Kung pao chicken.
