Panda Express Gallup New Mexico. As usual the employees were friendly however I went there to eat. That being said I ordered the specialty shrimp can't remember the name an extra dollar 25 for the premium entrée, then I ordered the chicken and string beans can't remember the name and steamed rice. The to go container appeared to be a normal size until I got to my hotel and noticed that the large portion for the rice was large as expected and the two portions for my two entrées were ridiculously small. If I had a tape measure I would say the portion spots were 2 1/2 x 3 1/2" wide and the food barely exceeded the top of the bottom portion tray. The steamed rice was very dry , to the point of being hard. I suppose I can't blame this particular store for the small to go container. read more

This place is very clean, and steady with business but not overwhelming. Pamela was friendly, offered for us to sample anything and was very quick with our food. We had our 3 year old with us and she ended up spilling water; Pamela helped us wipe it up and was so kind about it. My sweet fire chicken wasn't quite ready, I was told 6 min and then they'd bring it to me, but I probably waited about 12 and had to ask the cashier for it. The food and service were good, it was the restroom that was deplorable. First, it had no lock on the door. Second, the toilet was full of waste and stuffed with toilet paper. The toilet did not flush. Third, I went to at least wash my hands for dinner and there was no soap. I did go out to the cash register where my husband was paying and told the young man about the bathroom situation. I don't know what's normal for Gallup New Mexico, but I can't believe that this is normal, and I can't recommend eating here. First, let me explain what isn't going into my two-star rating. Facility cleanliness looks good, and price is good. The food is standard Panda Express, and that is good. Nothing is wrong with this place from a basic operational standpoint. However, that's not enough for me to put up with rude staff. It took almost 5 minutes to have someone make eye contact with me when I arrived. Then, the cashier and I had a misunderstanding over my change - she undercharged me $0.29 because her change dispenser wasn't working, and that confused me. It happens, but I was completely respectful about it throughout. The cashier didn't like being told that I was confused (those were my words: "I'm confused".). She became impatient with me and the 15 seconds I demanded from her, but I acknowledged that she was right and thanked her. She gave me an eye-roll. It wasn't a nice eye-roll either. It was a "this is a waste of my valuable instragram time; how are people so stupid compared to me?" eye roll, followed by marching off to whatever super-important Panda Express worker task she had to do next. Lady, if you're reading this, I have a doctoral degree and at least 30 units of advanced college-level mathematics coursework under my belt, including three semesters of calculus, differential equations, econometrics, statistics, vector geometry, statics, and a couple others that are 40 IQ points above any coursework to which you could even gain entry. I'll be that you don't even know what half of those course titles mean. I'm also twice your age, run my own business that I built, and manage all of the accounting and operational issues that come with that - something you know nothing about because I was in college while you were still in diapers. Seven years before you were born, I scored 750 on the mathematics portion of my SAT. Yeah, like I said, I was confused when you gave me $10 change in all $1s while I was expecting $9.71 in change, but (1) people way smarter and more educated than you can get confused, (2) even if someone isn't way smarter and more educated than you, you're still not better than them. And just to put the icing on the cake, I ordered a small "tea", for which I was charged $1.90. The menu lists all small fountain beverages at $1.90, but tea from the fountain is listed at $1.70. She overcharged me anyway, and walked away forgetting to give me my cup. Maybe she was having an off day. But for now, two stars due to poor customer service. read more

Don't stop here if you're traveling and have kids. The women's restroom was blocked off for employees only and they refused to let me use it to change my baby's diaper. They also didn't have any high chairs so I had to hold my child in one arm while trying to eat with the other. Unfortunately the food was also not great. Worse customer service..doesn't even deserve my one star. Me and my husband were having lunch, my husband was wearing a Mexico cap. A gentleman approached us with racist remarks. This is the third trip in a row that I was disappointed. I will not be returning. I ordered the honey walnut shrimp and orange chicken and the steamed brown rice. The servings, besides the rice, was so incredibly pathetic. Maybe 5 tiny, over cooked, sour pieces of chicken. The shrimp was delicious, but again, maybe 4-5 small pieces. The container was over generously filled with old, oddly smelly brown rice. I had maybe two bites but was afraid of getting sick. Rice left out and not prepared/stored correctly can be hazardous. The tea, which at one time was my favorite tea around, was gross. No ice, and tasted like it was made last week and sat around. I hate that tourists and visitors to our town are being subjected to this kind of food. Horrible representation and careless. For the amount of business they receive (there is always a line in the drive up and the lobby always looks busy), you'd think they would put more effort and care into their food. Blah. read more

Caught a quick lunch here while in town for work. The food was okay. However, the spring rolls were terrible. The server made no eye contact through the whole serving process, which was awkward. Majority of tables were dirty, but the bathrooms were clean. Toward the end of my visit an attended did start to wipe down the dirty tables. Same attended thanked me for stopping in and wished me a good day. So if anything she gets a star added to this review. I probably won't be back to this particular Panda Express. read more

Easily the Panda Express I've ever been to. The service was great and the food was moist and had nice sauces that you don't normally get enough of at a fast food chains. Matthew G was an amazing outstanding crew member, probably the best I have ever seen at a Panda Express restaurant ever. He was really enthusiastic about his job even though we were a family of 5 driving transnational from Minnesota to California with picky tired children at 10:20 at night, just when the store was going to close. He offered samples, greeted us, asked how we were, and most of all had a smiling face while doing it. If anyone deserves a raise, It's Matt. ill start by saying that I love Panda Express, eat at one 3-4 times a month. while traveling through Gallup we noticed they built a stand alone unit right off the highway. Stopped there for a quick lunch. first thing we noticed there was hardly any food on the line. We ordered and were told they would bring our food out when it was ready. 40 minutes went by with our coming up to the counter every 5 minutes to check before we got our simple order. We were not the only ones several other customers asked for their money back and left. There was not a manager in sight. We dealt with 2 apathetic counter servers who could care less. My question for Panda express is why would you build this nice facility and staff it with these type of untrained and unsupervised people. Oh by the way the food was sub par. read more
