Food was ready when I arrived, and the woman at the bar who handled the takeout orders was pleasant. The problem was the food itself. My son enjoyed his Orange Chicken, and the crab Rangoon and egg rolls were good. However, my General Tso's chicken was not very good at all. Mostly breading, and what chicken existed was overcooked and tough. I will not be ordering that dish again from here. I'll try another one of my favorites next time, but I can make better General Tso's at home using my air fryer.

When I recently thought they might be closing, I was genuinely heartbroken. There are plenty of places to get Chinese food, but Szechwan Garden is my place -- the kind of restaurant you count on, crave, and would miss terribly if it were gone. So hearing that they're staying open made me ridiculously happy! I'm incredibly grateful to this family -- and especially to Dad, who has been at it for decades -- for continuing to cook for all of us a little longer. Of course, everyone deserves to retire someday, and when that day comes, I'll be happy for him. But I'm not living in the future. Right now, I'm just grateful that Szechwan Garden is still here, still cooking, and still making my belly very, very happy. Thank you for being such a special part of Lakewood.
