Food quality is going downhill. Also, they have a program if you don't get a receipt you get a free meal. In my case, I asked for the receipt when I paid, still didn't get it. So I waited after they gave me my food in the drive thru and asked for my receipt again. Another staff came to the window and was surprised when I asked for the receipt and my free meal. She was pretty indignant saying the printer wasn't working properly (looked like the paper was installed wrong) and then gave me my receipt, but wasn't going to give me the free meal coupon as their signed on the window said. Regardless, it ended up working out, but was a terrible experience. Costs are up (food is definitely more expensive) but portions and food quality are way down (shrinkflation) and the the one thing that doesn't cost more, customer service and staff attitudes at this location are brutal. 2 Plates - Fried Rice, Orange Chicken, Sesame Chicken - Mixed Vegetables, Kung Pao Chicken, Bejing Beef Easy to find via Google Maps. It was 8PM and we needed food - fast. Friend recommended this place as it has a drive-through lane so it should be extra fast. Went through the drive-through and ordered. They only had 1 order of sesame chicken available which was tolerable as I wanted to try different foods anyway. After ordering + paying we were told to park in front of the restaurant even though there was no one else in line. Took them a good 12 min to compile our order and bring it out. I do appreciate they brought it out to me in my nice warm car. Unfortunately, upon delivery they said they ran out of fried rice so they subbed in white rice. I was disappointed as I would Much prefer fried to white but it wasn't like I paid more for the fried rice anyway. Then the food had to tolerate a 40min drive home. Was still luke warm upon arrival and held up well considering the long drive. The broccoli was in Huge chunks which made it hard to eat BUT it was still crisp and not soggy so I do appreciate that. Kung Pao Chicken and Bejing Beef tasted and looked exactly the same so not sure which was which (or even if I got both!). A bit spicy but very tolerable even for my weak palate. It was really hard to distinguish between the Orange Chicken and Sesame Chicken too. Can't even say which one I liked more but I could at least tell there were 2 different kinds. Fortune cookies were included at no cost so that was a nice treat. Overall, it is what I would expect from any fast food/mall Chinese food restaurant but slightly faster as long as you're not too fussy if they don't have what you originally wanted. read more

We have come here multiple times and they are always out of more than one entrees and the waits are excessive. We were just in the drive thru and there were only three entrees ready (which is a tiny fraction of what is available) and one side, rice. They said it would be a 5-10 or 10 min wait for almost everything to be ready including the chow mein. Their service is terrible and the attitude from the employees was not professional. From a management perspective this location is going to keep loosing business. And just to clarify this was 6:20pm on a Sunday. Peak dinner time hours. read more

This is the third time I have gone thru the drive thru at the Panda Express in West Edmonton. Every single time, I have to wait in front of the store because they never have some item I ordered. Today it was vegetables. I didn't want rice or chow mien. I wanted vegetables as my side. I ordered mushroom chicken, (two pieces of mushrooms) and the angus beef which is a premium item and they charge extra for the beef. In any event, I had to wait for 6 minutes this time at 5:30 pm. Supper time! 10,000 cars leaving Edmonton for outlying communities and they are unprepared. The last time I ordered a medium entry of mushroom chicken that I had to wait for and went into the store after 10 minutes of waiting. That was at lunch time. This exact location has to be the only Chinese restaurant that I've ever ordered from that are either to cheap or their employees are so poorly trained that even countless times of asking for soy sauce while ordering and STILL not receiving any. Every other Chinese restaurant I've ever ordered from throws it in the bag without even asking. It's like you have to beg to get a couple packets of it at this location, it's pathetic This is just addition to them constantly keeping their drinks pee warm, even on the hottest of days and letting their food sit out way too long. This is my go to for Chinese food. The entrees are very flavourful and many to choose from. Everything is usually well stocked during lunch hour and if not they will make it fresh for you. The staff are really polite and friendly. The price is great for the portion size you get. The only thing I wish they would do is add some flavour or salt to there mixed vegetables. The place is clean and the staff is friendly and quick. But I found the food kind of awful. I had the one side-one entree deal for six and a half bucks. That meant chow mein topped with beef and broccoli. I made such a dull choice, because options were limited. To be fair--This was around 3 p.m. so pickings were a bit slim. Still, their take-out menu shows eleven options, and seven of them are chicken. Plus three beef, and one deep fried shrimp. That's it. No pork. I was impressed by the low price until Isaw the tiny take-out container. Or maybe it just looked tiny. It's hard to tell. Did I not finish my meal because the container was larger than it looked? The portions are unfairly small for the price you pay. After standing in a huge line-up I ordered their "bowl" which includes one entree and one side. I got broccoli beef with rice. The lady asked me if I wanted something else, like another side or entree and I replied "no", but she asked again "are you sure?" which seemed kind of strange to me...At the end I got overcharged and paid for a plate with two meats and a side which I never ordered. I let know cashier, and she said she will take care of it (offering me a spring roll before that instead of money back). I opened the box, and there it was-one tiny piece of beef with a few broccoli heads. Oh, I am sorry, I already ate one piece, so it was two of them (what a luck!). I came up to the cashier again, and she said I will have to wait until the line slows down, about 20 minutes (wtf!) to get my money back. Basically all I had is a bunch of dry tasteless fried rice with no hint of soy sauce. I had to cut through the line to speak to cashier again, and she already forgot about me being overcharged. She was trying to get an attention from one of the supervisors for a few minutes, and finally the lady who took my order came and without any apology threw me my money telling cashier to be careful. The service is always professional and the wait is usually not very long at this location. Portions are alright for the price. Considering the variety, stick to what you like and you'd be ok. Panda Express is my absolute favorite place to eat. I eat panda at least 3-5 times per week and have had panda at locations not only across Canada but also across the US. That being said, this location is the most piss poor Panda I've ever been to. It doesn't matter what time I go, of the five attempts I've made to eat here, half of the pans are empty and the other half have corroded old food that I wouldn't feel comfortable feeding to my dog. This location either receives an extremely small amount of traffic, is managed by a total moron, or both. Do yourself a favor and go ANYWHERE else rather than waste your time walking in, looking at the food and saying gross then walking back out. read more

Food is luke warm. 12$ a plate is a lot for noodles and two very small entres. The chicken and black pepper was tasty and properly cooked. Chow mien was the worst - noodles were dry & plastic- like & had to search for any onions or celery in it. An attendant came around to inquire how we liked everything - told her about the lukewarm temperature of the food . She was surprised and said that they check the temperature regularly. She asked if we wanted to speak to the Mgr - we said no thanks. Then she came back later, having spoken to the Mgr & said that we would be given a free "Bowl" & "Plate" if we came back. That was extremely nice. However, I doubt that we will return as the food looks better than it tastes and most of what we had, tasted the same. This wasn't the best Chinese food I have eaten but it certainly wasn't the worst so I feel comfortable giving it a 3. We have come in four times now and the restaurant always looks clean and the staff are friendly. I haven't had anywhere near the amount of issues that other reviewers here have dealt with so we must be catching them on their good days. The young lady that was helping me even made a point of making sure I was getting more meat than veggies when she went to scoop my Beijing beef out onto my plate. Both my beef as well as the sweet and sour chicken were really good but I did find that my rice was pretty dry which I thought was unusual as we had come in at 4:30. It kind of gave me an inkling suspicion that we might have been getting the hold overs from lunch time instead of fresh dinner stuff. Wow. Worst "Chinese" food I've ever eaten. Congrats Panda Express on clinching the #1 spot formerly occupied by the Mandarin in Thunder Bay. The website (I'm assuming the US version even though it listed the Canadian locations) claimed they had tofu. Went to the location, they did not. I don't eat meat so shrimp was my only option now. I opted for the 1 entree and 1 side. Wow again. The amount of shrimp I got (and paid extra for because apparently it's "premium") was pitiful. Not even a half cup of entree. The rest of the plate was occupied by disgusting vegetable fried rice... That had traces of chicken in it haha oh man. Weird taste to the food like chemical or disgusting cooking oils. My boyfriend had the sesame chicken.. Almost choked on it it was so dry. His second entree was steak, and although he said it was better, it was still dry and appeared over cooked and sat in the warming tray far too long. Spring rolls were best suited for the trash, as well as the egg roll made with what appeared to be "chicken loaf". Ugh, wasted $25. Next time I'll stick to Chinese food at the mall food courts. More bang for your buck and definitely much tastier! Wish I could have rated this zero stars but I guess I'll reserve the one star for their amazingly delicious fortune cookies...
