Front of the building and entrance, Wednesday 21 June 2023.

I found thoughtful workers and a warm in-restaurant atmosphere tonight, Wednesday 21 June 2023, when I came to the Panda Express on Highway 99 in Edmonds to get a Panda bowl (1 side and 1 entree). I had my heart set on chow mein and Beijing beef. Walking up to place my order, the worker was ready and the items I was after were not back-logged. Payment was straightforward and the lady in charge of payment considerate. Parking includes a large shared lot, and I found it to be moderately full at about 7:20 p.m. For the food, the beef was well cooked, sweet, and flavorful. The portion was a healthy size with abundant beef and vegetables. The chow mein noodles were soft and the vegetables tender without loosing their crunch nor being too wilted. For the occasion, it was a satisfying quantity of food.

Although it's been a long time since I've had Panda Express, it still holds a special place in my heart. It fills me with nostalgia from my childhood going to my local PE to hang out after school. Their first location was at the Glendale Galleria in 1983 and now have locations in all 50 states with a total of more than 2,300 restaurants. This location is in Edmonds on the Pacific Highway 99 with lots of parking and lots of tables inside. They're most well-known for their orange chicken so it was a must-get for us. We got two plates ($9.90 each) with a split of fried rice and chow mein, orange chicken, and both beijing beef and the honey sesame chicken breast. I thought the chow mein had more flavor than the fried rice; the latter was just okay. The orange chicken was exactly what I remembered the last time I had it. The honey sesame chicken breast had similar textures to the orange chicken just in a different sauce. I really liked the beijing beef and the sauce reminded me of a Chinese sweet and sour pork dish that I love. The service was good and the employees were friendly and fast. Eating here reminded me of why I like it so much and I might make it an effort to come here more often again.

Thankful they were open on this snowy day. Staff was not overly friendly but come on it's just a panda expesss. It's not like we're dining at the Canlis people, I don't know about you all but with the glass and the masks makes it extremely difficult to hear or maybe it's just something I am Experiencing with age. It was noisy and I couldn't hear what the clerk was really saying. None the less we got there orders figured out and we went on our eat since the seating is all closed off. Food was ok. Not my favorite but it didn't make me sick so that is a win for me. I'll share with the dog :)

"Super Greens", Beijing Beef and Black Pepper Chicken

This Panda Express is near another fast food place which shall remain nameless, other than to say it has some golden arches on top of it. WHY would you go there when you can come to this Panda Express? When we went, they were out of the Veggies, which they call "Super Greens" now in a bit of clever marketing. This was a good thing because it meant they made some up fresh. YAY! We also had the Beijing Beef, the Black Pepper Chicken. On the other plate we had the chow mein and the Wok-Fired Shrimp. Here's a question - did they really mean to call it "wok-fired" (which sounds cool I will admit) or is it a typo for "wok-fried" ? I may never know. Anyway, my dining partner liked them whether they were fired or fried. The only person I know who is not a super-fan of P.Express is someone who went there daily for more than a week when they were visiting their grandparents. So don't over do it, friends! Finally, 4 stars instead of 5 because they need to get more customers in here so that the food doesn't sit around being reheated all day long. That makes me a bit nervous. I'm still a fan of Panda Express and will recommend it over other fast food when available!

Inside was rather functional and we were seated right away that lunch hour. Menu contained a good variety of fried and soup noodle dishes. The fried noodles were also served with a side of broth. I originally wanted wonton soup but deviated at the last minute to try their Dan Dan noodles. My daughter got the beef noodle and wonton soup that she liked. My Dan dan noodles was served with the same soup noodles and topped with a saucy ground pork and veggies. The pork packed a good amount of heat that I liked and enough to coat all the noodles. I personally preferred a thicker noodle but overall a good dish. The same lady who seated us took the order, served us, refilled our waters, rang up the sale and cleaned up afterwards. I'd come back here again.

Ignoring the fact that we were the only diners, which is ok these days with many opting for take-outs, I thought the food should be ok. Alas, their food is authentic adjacent but "not it". They look like they should be good, but the tastes are off. I should have guessed things aren't quite right, when the staff struggled to answer my simple question that any normal wonton shop would have understood. The interior is basic and quiet. During our time dining, only one other diner arrived. The Food: Wonton and Beef Brisket Noodle Soup, $14 - 3.5 Stars The beef briskets are reasonably tender. The wontons are acceptable with pork and shrimp fillings. The egg noodles are legit. Soup (or Spicy) Dumplings Noodle Soup, $14 - 2 Stars The Chinese name on the menu calls this Original Soup Sui Gow Noodle. This is a genuine and very good noodle soup at other places. Theirs is not it. The broth is not "original soup", which is a fish-based broth. Theirs is meat-ish, but not meaty and certainly not fish-based broth. It tasted off and weird. The dumplings are not sui gow. They are glorified larger wontons with pork and shrimp. A sui gow typically has Chinese black mushrooms and/or woodear fungus for a varying texture in the bite. The one authentic ingredient of this dish is the egg noodles. Garlic Chicken Wings, 6pc, $12 - 4 Stars These are good - crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Not too garlicky but still good. This dish rescued this meal. Lettuce Fish Meat Soup, $12.50 - 1 Star This dish is normally a popular HK street food dish. This dish is not that. The fish pieces lacked flavor and seasonings. The broth, again, is not fish-based but the same meat-ish flavor, same as the dumplings noodle soup. I wish I never ordered this.

From the moment we sat down, the carts were rolling by nonstop, stacked with steamers and fresh plates. There's just something special about being able to see everything before you choose, it makes the whole experience feel lively and traditional. I was SO excited when I spotted taro puff on one of the carts. Not every dim sum restaurant carries it, which is tragic because it's easily one of my favorite dishes. These were perfect. The had a crispy, lacy exterior with that light, fluffy taro filling inside and a savory center. I immediately grabbed a plate and was prepared to eat the entire thing if no one else wanted to try it. The siu mai was solid and flavorful, the har gow had a nice translucent wrapper with juicy shrimp inside, and the chicken feet were especially good. They were very tender, well seasoned, and cooked just right. The steamed spareribs were another standout. They were super flavorful and not overly fatty. Overall, this is exactly what I want in a dim sum experience with the bustling atmosphere, carts rolling around, and all my favorite classics (taro puff!). No, but if you're looking for a place to get together with a big group of people and just enjoy time together, T&T weekend dim sum is the spot. The dim sum is decent, definitely worth the price, and the tea is free, the way it should be! My girlfriend is vegetarian, so all other dishes were vegetarian: dry-fried string beans, general Tso's tofu, and hot and sour food. More than enough for the two of us, and very good and satisfying. Note: General Tso's is usually made with chicken and we asked if it could be made with tofu instead. They had no problem with the request. Portions are ginormous, so bring your appetite!
