Ive never had a bad experience here until now and I previously would have given 5 stars, so unfortunately this review will reflect my recent experiences. I am writing to warm others not to order through delivery driver services from this restaurant because they will send you the wrong thing and have no desire to correct it. Their menu lists D8 as a dinner combo that comes with pork fried rice and an egg roll, as does door dash and grubhub's in-app menu. I was charged the dinner combo amount as well. When the order arrives It is not a dinner combo, but just the main entree that does not include the fried rice and egg roll. When calling them to see what they can do they were argumentative saying thats what we ordered, meanwhile I can clearly pull up my door dash order that shows "D8". It seems they need to contact the delivery service apps and update their menu because apparently there is no way to get the dinner combo, and there is two ways to get just the main entree alone. I just wish they had made some kind of attempt to fix it or even just been apologetic. Lastly, while the food is good if these are the large entrees and not the dinner combos it is very small. read more

"Great Shimp and Broccoli, shrimp spring roll" Always seeking a good local restaurant. Consistently wonderful Shrimp and Broccoli - shimp are large, always tender, not overly salty (I've asked for white sauce and extra ginger as I've got a tomato allergy, but other dishes look great too!). So far, the best wonton soup I've had locally - rich broth, nicely seasoned wonton filling - nursed me through the flu this winter. Good deals both for lunch and dinner combo, but as I'm more of a protein eater, I stick with just ordering a small or large dish as they give a lot of rice (fried or white) in their combo. I've only done take-out or delivery, but the seating areas look clean, and others dine in. read more

Food is good, the fried rice amazing. Their egg rolls ARE egg rolls and not the fried spring rolls you'll find at most other places. The steak and cheese egg rolls are ok - not sure why a lot of folks rave about them. The hot and sour soup is ok but lacks the hot and sour you find at other places. Anticipated trying something new in our area. Sadly expectations ran too greasy--ERR too high. Food arrived hot, within reasonable time frame. Yet, each dish we sampled turned out to be too greasy! Hunan Shrimp, Vegetable Lo Mein and even the Szechuan Green Beans all the same texture. The hot and soup was indeed hot but a bit "light" on actual soup ingredients. Best Chinese food in Manassas. Period. Ate dinner there the other day. Had orange chicken and a beef fried rice. The orange chicken was mildly spicy with a great citrus flavor. I've never had fried rice gone as well as Panda's. Typically fried rice is rather dry and boring but this was moist and flavorful, the best I've had in years. 3.5 Stars for the new Chinese take-out/delivery joint in the neighborhood, Panda Cafe. I had seen the signs announcing their upcoming arrival, helping to fill in the mostly empty shopping center just off of Dumfries that doesn't have much more than a Giant in it presently. But with two other Chinese restaurants - China Star and Mandarin House - within a mile radius, did we really need another Chinese place? Yes and no. Like most Chinese restaurants, there are some things they do well, and some they don't. Panda Cafe enticed us to try them out with a 30% off take out offer, so we stopped by Friday night to take advantage of this opening special. We ordered quite a lot of food ... it was big game night after all! We ordered both shrimp spring rolls and steak and cheese egg rolls. I was excited to see another place besides China Star offer the steak and cheese egg rolls, but these were not even close to the ones at China Star. The steak used seemed to be more like a Steak-Um than real steak. The standard spring rolls were good. The crab rangoon, however, was fantastic - some of the best I've had in a long time. The 10 piece honey BBQ chicken wings for $6.95 were also tasty. The wings were on the small side, but no smaller than you'd get from BWW. The sauce was a Chinese BBQ sauce with a side of sweet and sour sauce to make the "honey" part. A bit odd, but I didn't mind that. We also ordered entrees - like I said, we ordered a LOT of food - and received mixed results here too. My wife liked her Seafood Lo Mein. I ordered Moo Shoo Beef, and while the mix was fine, the moo shoo "pancakes" were just plain flour tortillas. Wikipedia says this is deemed as acceptable in some Chinese American restaurants. I say otherwise. At the end of the meal the wife and I decided that Panda Cafe was in the middle of our hierarchy of neighborhood Chinese restaurants - above Mandarin House, but below China Star. Which is fitting, because their physical location is also between the two. China Star is just outside of comfortable waling distance - especially when carrying food back - so Panda Cafe will probably be the spot we go to if I want to walk out and pick up the order rather than drive or grab it on the way home. read more

Luckily for me, the weekend I visit my sister is the weekend Panda Café was offering their 30% grand opening discount. The Asian food around her house has been sub-par and was excited to see what this new place had to offer. It also didn't hurt they were offering 30% off which made me a little less frugal. Amongst the four of us, we ordered their General Tso Chicken, sweet and sour chicken, bourbon chicken, Singapore noodles, fried crab wantons, and their steak and cheese egg rolls. The appetizers were really tasty, but these are appetizers that must be eaten hot. The steak and cheese egg roll was the first thing I grabbed out of the bag and started gnawing on. It tasted just like a steak and cheese (duh) but with a crunchy shell which made all the difference than eating a steak and cheese on a soggy sub roll. Crab wantons were crunchy and were filled with a cream cheese mixture that, again, must be eaten hot. After dipping my fork into everyone's dish, I really enjoy the electric taste each offers. The general tso chicken was fried just right with just the right amount of sauce. The key to this dish is the sauce which was tasty, sweet, and a hint of spiciness. My boyfriend got the dinner combo which came with pork fried rice and it was DEE-LIC-IOUS. My sweet and sour chicken was better than what I've had at most restaurants. Other places I have had it don't fry it long enough and turns out way too oily. The one from Panda was crunchy and was accompanied by a delightful red sauce on the side. You can eat the chicken alone, but with the sauce, it's even better. My sister's Singapore noodles smelled sooo good. I'm usually not a fan of Chinese curry but this was tasty since it was lighter and mixed in with noodles. There were pieces of the same pork used in my boyfriends fried rice, needless to say, I dug out every piece for myself before she noticed. Overall, the food was really good. The price was even better. Even if I had to pay full price, I would because it was worth it and my sister said it was pretty consistent with other Chinese restaurants. The ingredients were fresh and the cooking was delicious. The chicken was sliced breast, not the chunky grizzly chicken pieces from the Chinese place down the street. Today was my first time ordering from Panda Café. I ordered through Eat24.com and was very specific: put the sauce on the side. As I checked out, I got a message "many entrees do not come with rice. Do you want rice?" Well yes, I want rice. So I ordered rice at $1.50. I was so disappointed when I picked up my order. The food was DRIPPING in sauce, so much so that it seeped out the edges of the container. THEN ... they charged me $1.50 for the sauce on the side. THEN... when I got back to work to eat my lunch, there was RICE IN THE CONTAINER. Such a frustrating experience. I didn't enjoy my food at all, plus my cost was about 30% higher than it should've been due to the upcharge for my sauce on the side and rice I didn't need. Not sure if I will order from here again. I may consider it since the restaurant is close to my office and the other reviews seem to be far more positive than mine. *sigh* Edited on 4/7/2015 I have to admit, I was a bit caught off guard when the owner of Panda Café texted asking what he could do to make my experience better. But he was truly kind and wanted to make me LOVE his restaurant. Offered to apply $3 to my next order since my first order was unsatisfactory. My husband and I ordered the same day he texted and the food was perfect, exactly as we ordered. Sauce was on the side, no extra rice, etc. We've ordered a few times since then, and the food was great. So, first experience wasn't great, but all subsequent visits (and deliveries) have been awesome. I truly appreciate that the owner went out of his way to contact me and make it right. I think this Chinese restaurant is pretty decent. What I do like is their crab Rangoon, their veggie spring rolls and their shrimp lo mein. I also like their beef and broccoli. Broccoli isn't overly cooked and sauce is pretty good. Now the beef on the other hand is not Same all the time. Sometimes it's really good and sometimes it's chewy.. What I don't like from here is the general tso chicken and general tso shrimp. I also don't like their bourbon chicken. It's not the sauce I'm used to from other bourbon chicken I've had . Our first visit a few weeks after they opened, we chose to dine in. I like to see the cleanliness and the foot traffic. There was a number of pick up orders and a number of delivery orders going out that evening. Even several of the customers gave us food recommendations they have enjoyed. Since our first visit, this normally a weekly place for us. Whether we are driving home and picking it up, or at home, just looking for dinner. Ordering is easy by phone or online. Everything we have had from the house fried rice, cashew chicken, beef and broccoli, hot and sour soup, egg rolls, and shrimp rolls have been very good and cooked to order.
