Great food with friendly service. Best chow mein I've had in the area so far! They've got imported beer which is really yummy too!

My husband and I decided to try this place out based on all of the reviews. It seemed like a 50/50 shot, so we chose to go in at lunch time. The place was empty so we were able to pick wherever we wanted. We were greeted by an elderly woman who seemed very nice. She then came to our table and proceeded to take our drink order. We asked whether Coke or Pepsi products and she said she had both Coke and Pepsi and that both were in cans. They cost a $1.79 and then refills are $.95. We got 2 Cokes and asked for extra ice (other Asian style restaurants haven't given us ice so we always make sure to ask when they only offer canned drinks). FOOD: We ordered appetizers, Pork Pot Stickers and BBQ Pork. The BBQ Pork came out sliced on the plate and was a large portion, however a little dry. She brought out he bbq sauce, some kind of mustard sauce and sesame seeds. There were only about 5 pot stickers that my husband said tasted like Fruit Loops the cereal. For our main dishes he ordered the Lunch Special of Orange Chicken, two egg rolls, pork fried rice and egg flower soup. He said the egg rolls were tasty as well as the fried rice. The soup was bland and the Chicken itself wasn't flavorful, but the sauce wasn't bad. All in all he said he'd give this fish a solid, "OK". I ordered the Mongolian Beef without onions/scallions and instead of the steamed rice it comes with, I substituted it for Chicken Fried Rice. When it comes out she brought my beef plate with the steamed rice and a separate plate of chicken fried rice. I said, oh I wanted this 'instead' of the steamed rice and she just nodded and said oh yes, yes my mistake... Unfortunately we had communication issues. The beef tasted like it too had been steamed as it was chewy and rubbery and didn't have a great flavor. The chicken fried rice had big chunks of fatty chicken that seemed to be barely cooked, which I picked out most of the pieces. However the rice was just bland lacking quite a bit of flavor and moisture. WAIT TIME: 0min to be seated, 0min to be greeted. 7-8min to get the food after we ordered. MENU: They have quite a few selections to choose from, including the main dishes that most people enjoy such as Orange Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Broccoli Beef, Teriyaki Chicken..etc. PRICE: Decently priced as long as you don't make any substitutions or add ons... so when I said no thank you to the onions being mixed with my Mongolian Beef, she said she'd just give me extra beef. I asked for how much and I got, "only $3 more.." ok, no problem. Then at the end when we went to pay, our bill came to $47... as we're looking it over I pointed out the rice she said, oh.. and grabbed the bill as if to mark it out.. instead she said I forgot to add the $3 for the beef. LOL... my hubby and I both thought she was going to take off the $8 rice dish that she mistakenly brought.. but no, we got charged an extra $3 instead. We are firm believers in blessing other people, so we didn't make a big deal out of it at all.. although my past self probably would have..ha. Instead we show people way more grace these days because we would want that in return. We walked out and couldn't help but laugh with each other that we spent $60 (including tip) on a meal that we didn't even finish at a restaurant we'll never go back to.. lol. Tried this place for the first time tonight & was pleasantly surprised. Ordered the orange chicken, veggie chow mein, fried wontons, szechwan (sp?) pork & fries for the kiddo. All the food was very good. No mystery meat. (& I'm very picky about what meat I eat.) Fresh veggies. Reasonable prices. Everyone working there was super friendly. The place was nothing fancy, but clean & comfortable. We will definitely go back. read more

In my opinion this is the best Chinese food Humboldt County has to offer. Ive eaten at every Chinese place between Eureka and McKinleyville and Panda is my go-to every time I'm craving Chinese. I grea up in LA area and regularly travel to the city for dim sum and hand-cut noodles etc. and have high standards. The servings here are enormous and prices low. In particular my favorite dish is the chow fun, wide chewy rice noodles stir fried with beef or whatever you want, man its good!! Their soups are all amazing, I often just get an order of soup to go on cold days. Wonderful family-owned joint, hard working owners of this shop serve up my favorite Chinese in the tri-county area. read more

I always order the same thing at Chinese restaurants...chow mein with broccoli and steamed rice. This restaurant had the option to make it pan fried. YUM!!! It was so good. The noodles were soft with the perfect amount of crisp. The waitress who may have been the owner was very polite. My daughter says this is the best Chinese restaurant in Eureka and better than any in Aracta or surrounding areas. I will definitely return. read more

Was hesitant to try this place at first but I really wanted to try a new Chinese restaurant and I'm so glad my mom and I did! This place is delicious! The ambiance to eat there is a little dim lighted but this place offers pork buns and a vegetarian menu and chow fun! Which is my favorite! I highly recommend the pork buns and my mother loved the sea food dishes! The staff is very friendly and you receive your food fast! Definitely adding to my list of favorites! We stopped by to carb up before the Ave of Redwoods race -- no regrets, food here was delicious. As others have said before me, don't let its homily appearances fool you. While the inside/outside need an update and looks decidedly less slick than the Liu's up the street, the service was sweet, the portions generous, and the fare delicious. I got the chicken with cashew and my husband got him some orange chicken. Both were made with tender white chicken meat, flavorful yet relatively light (I hate it when dishes are covered with thick soy sauce), and came with generous helpings of vegetables. It's like they started to make a really good dish, - the chicken isn't stringy or mushy and the veggies are crisp- but then they just decided screw that guy for asking for extra spicey- he gets no sauce and not one single pepper. Love this place! Probably the best Chinese you'd find in the area. The pan fried Vegetarian chow mein hits the spot (I don't recommend getting it crispy, the noodles are like chips). I also love their garlic eggplant with tofu, very filling. Kung pow chicken is delicious. And best of all, the owner/waitress Judy, is the sweetest lady in the restaurant business and makes the dining experience all the better. read more

Great food, Great taste, clean environment great service, family friendly and plenty of good parking. *can order half servings on most entrees. This is nice if you don't want to tote any home, or want to stay on budget. Entres: 1. Chicken chow mein with pork fried rice. Cooked to order and serve hot. Tasty soft noodles! 2. Pork egg rolls were awesome made to order as well. 3. Orange chicken was awesome. Ordered a half serving for $6. It was plenty for 3 people to add to their own plate as a side. * you can taste the Chinese 5 spice in the pork! For soup lovers: 1. The wonton noodle soup, cup size was huge and full of flavor. 2. Hot n sour soup was very good, could have used a bit more salt. But that is my preference. Overall it was awesome tasting. 3. Egg flower soup could use some chopped green onions, but you can always ask for it on the side. Very good though. Will definitely be coming back to this place in the future. read more

I LOVE this place and make a point to come here as often as I can! Their tea and veggie potstickers are fabulous, and their vegetarian and vegan options number quite a few-- their eggplant special with tofu is to die for! The prices are also incredible for the amount of food you get. Our server is always very sweet and recognizes us-- Panda truly has that small town charm with delicious, authentic cuisine. I ate here with my boyfriend when we were in Eureka getting cat food. We ordered lunch specials to go - crispy sesame beef and garlic chicken. The lunch specials were anywhere from $5.50 to $7.50. Not bad, if you ask me. Plus, they came with soup and choice of eggroll or crab wonton. We ate the soup there while we waited for our to go order. The lady who helped us was suuuuper nice and friendly. We finished our soup and resumed eating once we had returned home - both the chicken and the beef were fantastic! I was looking around for some chinese food and this was the closet to my hotel. I got wonton soup with hunan/chef sauce style chicken. It was all okay honestly. Chinese food is one of those dishes that I get a lot of take out of, from many places, and I'd say this is one of those that I'm just okay with. The dish I got seemed to have very thick and kind of salty sauce, and the wontons weren't served with those deep fried chips you usually put in the soups. My boyfriend and I got pot stickers, soup, tea, three full meals and plum wine ( which tastes just like criprisun by the way?!) For 40$ which was great. Gross I found the restaurant online & looked at the menu. I called in an order of crab cheese puffs. When I arrived I was charged $5.50 even though website said $3.50. When I mentioned it, the woman said that must be old...even though it was the current website. Ok then. These better be good cuz ya already irritated me. Nope. "That place? Really?" My friend assured me he eats here all the time and its possibly the best Chinese restaurant in Humboldt. I was pleasantly surprised, and I'm even a picky vegetarian. The waitress/owner is an absolute sweetheart and excellent waitress. This is a family run business, wife as waitress, husband as chef. The restaurant was very clean, nice, and roomy. My friend ordered a chicken dish that he gulped down, and got take out for his roommates. I got the tofu and veggies in a hot clay pot, it was wonderful! You can tell they make their sauces from scratch, mine was rich with ginger, not goopy and weird like many Chinese restaurant sauces. Nice fresh veggies, and the rice at the bottom of the pot covered in sauce, it was perfect. We ordered a pot of tea, probably jasmine, which was piping hot and already brewed - yes, no waiting for the tea to brew. She even makes delicious homemade almond cookies - butter cookie? shortbread? Not sure but yummy! I missed all the veggie specials (eggplant, green beans, bok choy, etc) so make sure you look at them as you walk in the door. I can't find a single thing that wasn't great about this experience, so they get 5 stars. read more

This place is gross! Went there on Monday July 14 2014 for lunch, we got our order to go so we could eat it at the beach up the road past Patricks point so pretty far to return it or we would have! It was 29.00 for 4 items and they were all unbeatable! Our dog who loves chicken would not even eat it! We ordered general chicken chicken chow main , fried prawns and chicken fried rice. Food is always great and very fresh. Generous portions and very reasonable prices. Love the salt and pepper prawns as an appetizer. Any of their soups are excellent and full of goodies. I often order from their specials on the board or from their combination menu. Judy is always there to greet you and take care of your every need. We've been coming here for 6 or so months from 2 towns over. The food is excellent. We came in tonight 30 minutes before closing. We wanted to dine in and told the waitress this. She mentioned they were closing in half an hour but we're never there that long, the food comes fast because they are never very busy. Anyway she seated us, took our order then rang us up and brought out our order to go. Very awkward. There was a table of diners no where near finished with their meals and she still booted us. I worked at a restaurant before. We locked the door at closing but took customers until then. I thought it was rude so we won't be making the drive here again :( read more

How this place has 4 stars is beyond me. Some of the worst Chinese food iv ever had, everything was bland and barley palatable. I decided to try this place because I saw they had pork buns which you can't find anywhere in Humboldt. What a huge disappointment that they were just frozen microwaved and disgusting. The chow mein had no flavor, just like the broccoli beef. Sad that the crappy spot in the mall's same dishes taste better and it sits out all day. Very nice lady was nice and promise me jumbo shrimp with my dish on the special of the day and was more like small shrimp.

Food was average if that. Service was terrible. When I asked for a another coke the lady told me after I finish my drink. What am I? 5 years old? Give me another damn coke. She also charged us double on our order. Then, she said, "I wondered why you ordered a lot of food." Never said double my order and the initial price was $16. I'm am from the Bay Area. Used yelp to help pick a place to chose to go out and eat. It says 4 stars. I give it a -4. Don't waist ur time eating here!!!! Food was so disgusting! Worst Chinese food evvvvvvver!!!! ordered Togo. Realized they gave us half the order wrong. But aside from the order being wrong the food is awful. My 5 year old didn't even eat her meal. Beef and broccoli is just soy sauce and the walnut shrimp was sooo jelly textured i had to spit it out. Don't know how ppl actually like this place. That's not Chinese food. It's crap in a box. Decided to go here after reading a few reviews. The only reason they are getting one star is because the poor lady was working very hard. We ordered a few dishes the compound combo lemon chicken Walnut honey shrimp lemon shrimp Curry vegetable hot and sour soup! Everything and I mean everything had no taste! This is probably the worst Chinese food restaurant I've ever been in. My girls Chinese she said she'd give them two stars I said that's too much. They seem to be relatively busy! It's because it's American Chinese food not Chinese food. since people are Americanized with this Americanized Chinese food they don't know what real Chinese food taste like! So they think it's good! Orange chicken tell me where you can find that in China? Anyway if you want authentic excellent Chinese cuisine and Eureka California I suggest you look somewhere else than here. When we come back next spring we might ruin the Chinese restaurants up here and see which ones are good but we're only here for a couple days. read more

I love me some Panda! Any place that substitutes beef for chicken chow fun is fun in my book. Friendly folks, food is hot and plentiful. My whole family enjoyed it, so that's all that matters to me.
