We have been going here for years and today was no different. The service was very good for our party of 12. This was a stop after spending a whole day at the Great Wolf Lodge water park. My family and I were visiting mystic for the July 4th weekend , my kids wouldn't appreciate or tolerate the wait at those nicer seaport area restaurants as it was getting late, so we wanted something quick with variety and no fuss . Enter Panda Buffet ( $20 adults / $10 kids under 10) , I'll admit this wasn't at the top of my list because of all the sketchy reviews from what seems like folks who are trying to ruin this business so I took a chance and wasn't disappointed . We got there 6:44 and they stated closure time was 8PM so I expected food to be either cold or not replaced but to my surprised the sushi and seafood was being restocked even though we ate quickly. More folks started walking so perhaps that's why food was restocked . The food quality is what you would expect given the price point but at least I can see the guy making all the sushi fresh . Staff was quick to take our used plates and we were done by 8:15pm (there were still folks who were only halfway thru ). On a Saturday night the staff looked tired but did their job no complaints really . So if you're out with a large group or with a bunch of kids while visiting, Mystic definitely considered this as an option. plenty of parking outside as well . read more

If you go during the weekends it's usually pretty the busy and the food is always fresh and hot. However if you go during a slower night the food will not be hot. (Not very food safe). Not sure if their warmers are broke or what. The food is alright. Pretty cheap, do recommend on weekends! read more

What? 4 big stars for a Chinese buffet? Impossible. Well, that's four stars relative to the universe of Chinese buffets, which is rapidly diminishing since the pandemic. Ok, the food isn't as great as a stand alone top chef Chinese restaurant. But for what this place is, it's not that bad. The food was mostly fresh not like some buffets that leave food sitting around until it's dried out. The dumplings were actually sumptuous. The sliced beef tender. The white rice very palpable. We were visiting on a day trip from Boston, and we know AYCE. Was pleasantly surprised to find sushi and sashimi too (maybe because it's a Saturday and a holiday weekend? Or always dunno)- and it was good for what it is (again, set expectations - this is NOT $10/appetizer type of restaurant). The shrimp were enormous! And 8 flavors of ice cream to choose from. Visited the restaurant on 09/14/2022 at about 2PM. We were seated right away and the waitress was friendly and very efficient with beverages, that good service continued throughout our visit. There was a lot of food and a lot of different options. I tried a variety of hot & cold dishes to include the sushi and there wasn't anything that wasn't OK . I'd be inclined to grade higher if it wasn't for the temperature of the supposed to be "hot" foods. Most were warm at best, they tasted OK but needed to be a lot warmer in temperature. I was a little concerned eating food that had been sitting out that wasn't hot but I did and hours later I feel fine, the food wasn't spoiled it just wasn't hot enough. Left a good tip because the service was very good and overall it was a pleasant dining experience but in my opinion they do need to make more effort on keeping the "hot" foods "hot"...... read more

Went for the first time today. Was quickly seated and my beverage and silverware were delivered right away. The egg drop soup was flavorless and luckily my server brought me a spoon right away. Of all the food items that were available only one or two were ones I would try. Black pepper chicken was pretty tasty but not very warm. The main reason I'll never return? When taking a tip to check out the area, we stopped to eat close to route 95. This restaurant is good for all you can eat with sushi, sashimi, and a bigger than usual variety of ice cream. Staying in New London to avoid the overly priced casino hotels and this place just so happened to pop in to one of my many google searches. My children and I love sushi as well as American style Chinese buffets. The food was fresh and hot and the sushi selection definitely AMAZING for a buffet. The surf clams and salmon sashimi was very good. In fact it was so good we've decided to eat here again tomorrow evening. Goldfish and Buddha Panda Buffet is a very typical Asian American boofay. None of the food here will surprise but nothing I've ever had disappointed either. A huge selection of the usual favorites along with a bit of sushi and lots of crisp and fresh veggies. I thought the décor was pretty entertaining and amusing. Little fake ponds and fountains filled with goldfish and all kinds of little statues of Buddha and other very plastic looking Asian stuff. Fun to look at, this is kitsch at it's finest. Nothing gourmet or even remotely authentic, anyone looking for fine Asian food at a boofay is delusional and foolish. But there is a whole heap of good food here. The seafood was terrific for Saturday dinner! Lots of choice's like steamers (steamed clams), many shrimp dishes, decent sized too! They also had crayfish/crawfish in a seasoned boil (pretty tasty). The manger was very nice and seemed to care about making customers feel comfortable and pleased. I would definitely go back for the seafood. I didn't try to many of the non seafood dishes but my daughter was pleased with the non seafood items. Don't know what choices there are for lunch but I'll check that out soon. read more

So I said ok just to tone down the issue still not sure what she's talking about sense the sign I see said lunch 3pm. So When I went to pay my bill I mentioned it to the guy at the cashier he started yelling SUNDAY SUNDAY and the Original Waitress came over and Started yelling at me also. My wife SO EMBARRESSED walk out the door. Then the cashier showed me a sign in 1/2 print Sunday prices was the same as dinner prices. We sometimes eat here once a week, due to great prices and consistent quality. We have both worked in the foodservice industry, and can appreciate a good meal at a great price. We usually go for lunch, due to better vegetarian selections. You will find much more seafood at dinnertime, along with the slightly higher price. They are also very kid friendly. The space may feel a bit tired, and the servers are sometimes brusque, but look beyond that to three hot tables, one cold table, one sushi station, and an ice cream cooler. The hot and sour soup is consistently good, along with the veggie-only selection for lunch. Basics like veggie lo mein, and egg rolls are refreshed often. There is always a sauteed veg like bok choy or snow peas, the green beans are green and still crunchy but nicely garlicky, and there are fries, onion rings, or sesame balls for the vegetarian. For the meat eaters, chicken dishes abound for the lunch-General Tso's chicken, coconut chicken, teriyaki chicken, sesame chicken, barbequed chicken, plus mussels with bean sauce, shrimp cocktail and cabbage shrimp, steamed fish and stuffed clams. The turnover for luch is great, and the space can accomodate plenty of diners, so that is out favorite time to eat. There is dim sum, soup, fried rice, lo mein, and a full sushi table with minimun 6 choices of rolls. Absolutely disgusting filthy restaurant and staff!!! Saw a young teenage girl picking pineapple (from the chicken & pineapple) off her plate WITH HER FINGERS & flinging it back into the buffet tray. Advised the staff, who really were right there & most likely saw it too. I was shushed/waved away and NOTHING was done about it. A clean restaurant would have removed the contaminated tray from the buffet. The board of health should investigate this place & shut it down!!!
