This location is awful. The beans were barely cooked and still hard. The rice was mush, like it was from yesterday. The inside of the restaurant had a weird unpleasant smell that I couldn't quite describe. The whole burrito lacked flavor. I couldn't decipher any of the flavors and the texture of the half cooked beans ruined the whole thing. If I want on a time crunch I would have asked for a refund. And I'm not the type to do that. I decided to try it again recently and it gave me the worst food poisoning of my life. every single piece of steak in my burrito was raw, same with the chicken, and the beans also had not been cooked. I would suggest management take a hard look at what's going on at this location. This used to be my go to spot when I've had a long day, but the last three times have not been worth it. In fact, if I could give zero stars, I would. First time: uncooked rice, no chicken (ordered extra), no queso. Result of complaining: Free Burrito next visit. Second time: steak instead of chicken, uncooked beans, no chips and queso. Result of bringing it to their attention: another free burrito, with an admonishment about waiting until the next day to bring it to their attention. Third time: no rice, very little chicken (paid for extra) no cilantro vinaigrette, queso was sludge. Not complaining anymore, just not going back. I know I can't be the only one. read more

The lettuce was wilted, the serving size was small compared to other locations, the chips were beyond stale, and the queso was clumpy and tasted like it was made about a month ago. This location as mentioned in other reviews is the worst in the metro. Service is extremely slow. Food is not that fresh if they even have it. Ownership at this location does not care. I love Pancheros and on many occasions have tried to give feedback to zero response. If they keep this up they will be out of business as soon as a chipotle does up. My husband and I have seen these places everywhere and we thought we'd try it. We went in at 9pm (yes I get it, 9pm is late and I shouldn't expect much, but still!) anyway, the lobby was a mess with messy tables with trash and food scraps and on the floor. There was no one in the restaurant, we sat outside talking in our car for a moment and saw the associates doing a great job holding up the counter and staring out the windows; so I know there was time to clean. When we walked in 3 associates left and went to the back, a girl and guy. And a 3rd associate with beats headphones on helped us. He was polite and friendly. Each bin of meat was pretty empty and he was really scraping the bottom to get us our protein. Then from the back emerged a girl with long nails and colorful hair to ring us up; didn't greet, no smile, seemed annoyed. While we ate, the 3rd associate decided to come out of the back and sit in the lobby and watch the game on tv; maybe he was on a break. He was then joined by beats headphones associate for a bit to watch the game together. The meat was soooo dry! One of the nicest and most organized Pancheros I have been in. Very clean, well staffed and food was fresh. While I think this franchise is relatively new, it was obvious it is being managed well. Our order was quick and accurate, the dining area was clean and everything tasted great. There is one TV in the dining area, otherwise it was just tables and booths. There doesn't appear to be a patio, but there was plenty of seating inside. The rest rooms were clean. Overall I was quite happy to eat here and am thrilled it's so close to my house. read more

We love Pancheros at our house and a majority of the time we get it from the 100th st Urbandale location. Tonight we stopped by the Grimes location as we live there, hoping things are better. We, along with 6 other people waited in line while someone finally came out 5 minutes later to begin taking orders- yes this actually happened. When we got up to the counter the lids of the food were opened and the beans looked extremely sticky and disgusting. The rice was obviously too dry. We left and drove to the 100th st location where all was great. This Grimes location should either provide consistently good service and product or be closed. Never going there again. read more

This location is so dirty! The service is awful too but the bigger issue is the cleanliness. I have been there several times because it is closest to my work but have since been avoiding it or going to the further location in Johnston. Last time I was there I could see a metal lid from one of the pans of black beans with a 'use by' sticker on it. That date had come and gone already. Plus they cook in bulk and leave it sitting on the line for who knows how long while you can go to places like Chipotle that are cooking constantly so there isn't old meat sitting. read more

The shift lead when I came in was immediately horrendous to the trainee. He was berating the kid over very small things, when there wasn't even a rush, and continued to do so for a full five minutes. We left the building immediately after this and chose to not buy anything from this business. The shift lead seemed to be attempting to impress the two younger women that were in there when we arrived. We went in on December 17th at 6:20pm. My family was extremely uncomfortable and upset to see a grown ass man treat a young new hire this way. We will not be going back. read more

While I like Pancheros as a chain, I like this store specifically because they're not understaffed, they're courteous and they are understandable. You don't have to just point and hope for the best. The food is great both temperature and size wise. I always get the burrito because the tacos are too messy. I had occasion to use the restroom, which was very clean. They always have sports on the TV and seem to always have seating available. I've never had a bad experience here. When I'm in the area I'm glad to stop. read more

It was small, not warm, and just not good. Then, I come here today and proceed to stand in the same spot in line for 10 minutes. It seemed as if there was no urgency among the 4 staff members. I saw that a new Pancheros opened up right by the Wal-Mart in Grimes so thought I'd check it out. The restaurant is fairly new and it was very clean and a good size. I got the steak burrito with extra meat and hot sauce on the side. It was still as flavorful and delicious as ever. However, my only complaint is that it seems they changed the recipe for the hot sauce. It looks and kind of tastes more like a spicy BBQ sauce. The consistency is definitely thicker. I don't know if it has changed at all the Pancheros or if it's just this one but I definitely prefer the original recipe for their hottest sauce. read more

So went into pancheros I'm 7 weeks pregnant so I have been craving it really bad. I get the same thing Everytime I get a steak burrito. So this time I went in I got my burrito and I sat down, I took one bite and a bunch of raw meat fell out, and like I said I'm pregnant so when I saw that I freaked out because that can make me have a miscarriage. I placed an online order for ASAP pick up. I stood there for 30 minutes asking for my order with several online orders that were supposed to be ready after mine be completed and handed to customers before me. The order was made wrong two times with me finally conceding to take to the wrong order. There were 8 people working when I arrived with about 10 people in line waiting. 2 people (one being a manager) left in the middle of supper rush (6:20) leaving customers and online orders waiting to be served by a crew that needed some leadership.
