It's a seasoned tomato based soup with beef, tendon, and stomach. It comes with a side of toppings with onions, cilantro, chili peppers, and lime. It's savory and tangy! The portion sizes are large! So be aware of that, unless you order tacos and they are regular street taco sized. We also got steak tacos and the meat was perfectly grilled, tender, and seasoned! If I could leave zero stars I would... I ordered via DoorDash, several times over they messed up my order, but today they gave me a completely wrong order, covered in pork, that I cannot eat. When I called to get the order rectified, they continuously hung up in my face. And when I asked just for a name of the manager to speak to you in the morning or the name of the person, I was speaking with they refuse to give it to me and hung up again. Ordered burrito Asada. Got one with watery boiled flavorless chicken inside. The plastic knife and fork they give you cannot saw through the leathery skin of the stale tortilla wrap. My kids complained and refused to eat their tacos or quesadillas for similar reasons. The chips were stale and the salsa seemed to have come from a jar. We ordered delivery and I can only describe the food as...not good. We ordered cheese enchiladas and chips and guacamole. The guacamole came on the chips, which made them soggy. The guacamole is basically puréed avocados with no flavor. Cheese in the enchiladas was still shredded. Not at all melted. Overall, pretty mediocre. read more

I'd rate my Lina's experience a 3.5. Doesn't quite deserve a 3, but I wouldn't rate it a 4 either. My boyfriend and I are obsessed with Mexican food and new to the DSM area, so we figured we'd give it a try. We ordered drive thru, service was quick & our food was prepared fresh. I ordered the #16 Adobada Plate, it consisted of chopped marinated pork, pico, guac, sour cream, lettuce, rice, beans, and corn tortillas on the side. The flavor was good, pretty standard and nothing over the top. The mild red salsa was delish & added a lot of flavor! There were quite a few pieces that were all fat, but overall I'd give it a 4/5. My boyfriend ordered the Pollo Asado Quesadilla. He described it as pretty average, the hot red salsa on the side made it a lot more enjoyable. The quesadilla was sliced in half, and the half on the bottom was drenched in grease (pic attached). Overall, a 3/5. If you're in the area looking for quick Mexican food (drive thru was probably faster than McDonalds), then this would be a great place to try. The fact that it's open 24 hours is awesome & would probably make for a great drunk meal. But if you're looking for something with a little more quality, a sit down Mexican restaurant might be your best bet. We may be back to give it another try. Walked .3 miles from the Holiday Inn hotel I was staying at for business to Lina's based on its proximity to my hotel, high Yelp rating and number of ratings (56). Myself and two co-workers ordered 3x combination plates (#5, 6, 15) at 1pm on a Wednesday afternoon. We received our food within seven minutes, The ingredients were fresh and the quality was high. The staff were friendly and responsive. I asked for a metal fork and found out they didn't have any metal silverware available. Very nondescript store front - you could definitely drive by this place! The time and money they didn't put into the outside of the building they put into their food and customer service! Im a flight attendant and I have traveled most of the U.S eating authentic Mexican food. It's a healthier fast food restaurant, with prices that are too low for how good the food is. It's a lot of food for only $12.00. Everything on the menu is priced below $12.00, very cheap. Honestly, I don't understand how they are making any money selling the food for that cheap. The food quality is above what you pay for. Loved this place and even had enough food left over for dinner. Will recommend and be back if I have another layover. read more

Was decent for eating in the car in hospital parking lot at 1215 in the morning while waiting to hear from emergency room. They are supposed to be open 24 hours but sign posted they close at 3 due to staff shortage. Drive thru has huge menu to read noticed they have Mexican soft drinks. I love beef tongue and noticed they had several items with tongue. Service was good Portions large! We ordered Carne asada quesadilla was a bit greasy but flavor was good. Two orders of French fries with medium queso. Crinkle cut fries were big Queso was good not too hot! Two free bags of tortilla chips still warm and we were offered a couple varieties of hot sauce for free. Napkins & plastic silverware without having to ask. Pleasantly surprised. I wasn't expecting all the food to have different flavors. Each meat we tried had its own distinct flavor. Carnitas, adobado, chicken and pollo asado were all fantastic. Guacomole was more of a sauce but very good. The mild salsa is spicy and I don't mind a little spice. The other mild and hot sauces were fine. Beans were great. I love Lina's!! They are on Keo Way near downtown and by almost nothing else, save a Subway. I work nearby and go regularly through the drive thru. I've never had them get an order wrong and I've never been disappointed with what I've gotten. Their food is similar to Maria's or Abelardos (but better imho). I really like the taco salad (the shell is the stuff of dreams) and the queso dip. I've tried a bunch of different stuff on their menu at this point and you probably can't go wrong picking your favorite Mexican go-to. read more

Stopped at Lina's for the first time a few weeks ago and we really liked it. Went back today and it was even better than the first time! We don't live in Des Moines, but will be stopping there any time we are in town and looking to get something to eat. Excellent prices, very generous portions. I will find excuses to go to this place and order a burrito! My wife recently spent about 6 days in the hospital (everything is fine) and this is where I stopped whenever I wanted something quick and near the hospital. I have had every type of burrito they make and so far the breakfast burrito with churizo is what I want to eat every morning. Even for lunch if possible. It's a fast food Mexican restaurant that is several notches about taco bell and opens 24 hours. How could you hate that idea especially when leaving the bars at night and just crave that greasy food you know you that the diet you worked so hard following just would all go downhill making poor choices at 2 in the morning. With that being said, Lina's is here for you and I must say it's better than Abelardo's in my opinion. Their meat is well seasoned and a really nice serving so thank you carbs, fat, proteins to counter act all of the bad decisions I made between 9pm-2am. The poster who said its better than Tasty Tacos is LOCO DE LA CABASA Linas is a 24hr spot so I judge it on a lower bar than an actual restaurant. If you have ever eaten at Abelarados this is basically just your Des Moines Southside option. The chicken is soggy and the steak is tough and fatty. They gave me generous amounts of steak on my taco but I ended up spitting about a quarter of it out because it was chewy fatty pieces. There are not too many late night options open on the Southside so if its between McDonalds, BK, or Lina's... its the place to go. But middle of the day... go somewhere else. read more
