Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Portion to Price: 3/5 Overall: A good experience to have a pancake in Amsterdam but I didn't leave too full. The extended review... Food: Apple and Bacon Pancake - 3/5 - A good combo and pretty standard fare taste wise. Service: 3/5 - Standard service. Ambiance: 3/5 - A quaint ambiance with nicely spread out seating. Portion to Price: 3/5 - Could have used a little more portion.

We were so pleasantly surprised by this place! Our server was very nice and helpful, and we tried a little bit of sweet and savory pancakes. They were all delicious!! We sat outside on the patio, but there was also a good bit of seating inside as well. The only con was the service was on the slower side. But the pancakes were great, would recommend!

Being outside Central station this business may be targeted at tourists; however, my wife considers her breakfast this morning one of the best meals she has ever enjoyed! She ordered the Dutch pancake with egg and bacon. Service was quick and friendly, and you pay a premium for the location but she couldn't be ha

Stopped in again while visiting Amsterdam and this time wanted something savoury. I had the Salmon - Spinach - Pesto omelette and it was amazing. Service was very quick!

Established in 2007 Pancakes Amsterdam is a polarizing entity, the second location in front of Damrak favored by tourists but the original in the Nine Streets generally well-liked by locals even though prices trend a bit higher than more traditional places. Open from 08h00 to 20h00, early arrival or reservations advisable lest one wishes to wait, Pancakes' menu comprises Dutch or American style with a variety of toppings including favorites designated by a heart. Surrounded by iconic scenery, outdoor seats in the shade a hot commodity, Coffee is basic but good with a packaged Stroopwafel while Pancakes are light and fluffy, perfectly wrapping around plentiful toppings, and available both Vegan or Gluten Free for those with allergies.

Yummy pancakes. My husband was blow away by his savory ham pancake and I enjoyed mine with apple and cinnamon crumble although it was quite sweet. The portions were large, food was fresh, staff were friendly, and menu had lots of options. We went on a weekday morning and it was busy with a short wait.

There is a whole lot of "yum" here.

We arrived early by ship to the port in Amsterdam and once we deboarded we walked around the city for a while KNOWING that we would go to PANCAKES Amsterdam for lunch. We've been here before and would not pass up the opportunity. We made our way back after exploring Amsterdam around 1:30 for lunch. There was a small line and that is no surprise... There is always aline here. Their stuff here is just that good and everyone knows about this place. It also doesn't hurt that it's outside with a great view. Overall, this place is one giant treat. My wife always gets the same thing... Pancake with whipped cream and chocolate. If you look hard you can actually see the pancake. I usally go wit the pancake with goat cheese and ham. These are amazing. The team is fabulous. This shop has no down time and their either taking an order or delivering an order. They do it with a smile and it just adds to the whole overall experience. I tip like I'm in New York which they really appreciate. That usually doesn't happen here. Somebody said in their review; "You will never go back to the traditional American pancakes drenched in sugar syrup ever again." Well said! I can't recommend Pancakes Amsterdam enough for your breakfast, lunch or dinner. KUDOs to the team at PANCAKES Amsterdam

Absolutely a delight. We loved this place. We tried the savory Dutch Pancakes instead of the traditional sweet options. They were full of flavor and filling. The coffee was excellent too. Wished they had these available back home. Service was great and friendly. Ambiance was cozy.

I had never had a Dutch pancake before, so I was excited to get the authentic experience in Amsterdam. I opted for a savory pancake with goat cheese, spinach, and garlic. I added bacon to it for an extra cost. I was very pleased with my meal. Although the pancakes looked large, they were thin enough for me to eat the whole thing without being overly full (which I am thankful for because it was soooo good). My husband got the cheese and apple pancake, the cheese was a little overpowering but he liked it. He ordered a hot cup of tea, and they had a covering over it to warm up a mini stroopwafel, which we thought was a nice touch!

This was a convenient go to for my trip to Amsterdam and I went twice. It's right by the train station. It is pretty small and you have to wait outside for the line (even if it's raining). The service was quick and efficient and I enjoyed the pancakes I got. They don't have free water though...you have to buy a bottle.

Gluten free Dutch pancake #18 - Egg, spinach, cheese
Carly C.

I'm gluten free and ate breakfast here 3x over a 3-night stay in Amsterdam. That's how special this spot is. The line was always intimidating but moved quickly. The spinach/cheese/fried egg (#18 on the menu at the time) was my favorite, however TWO fried eggs should be the default. My boyfriend says adding bacon is the correct move. The tuna melt pancake was good, but IMO the jalapeños came on too strong. I wish they would've been chopped more finely. Between the pulled bbq chicken, the spinach/cheese/egg, & the American pancakes, the BF liked the chicken dish the most. The American ones are smaller than what you find in the US. The Dutch pancakes are perfectly thin, allowing the toppings to share center stage. The 'fresh tea specials' don't have actual teabags--they're more like infused hot water. But they do allow you to take drinks to-go, just with no lids on the cups. I chose savory pancakes every time(GF Dutch) for the practicality, but will be trying the sweet next time I'm in town!

Dutch coffee with eggnog and whip

Short wait for a very busy place. Choice of Dutch or American pancakes. Choose the Dutch for a unique texture and taste. I found the very thin pancakes had a nice crunch on the edges. I had the Dutch coffee with the eggnog. The other drink is the Pancake Latte. There are several locations throughout Amsterdam so check for a location near you.

American pancakes

We ordered the ham and cheese Dutch pancake and the American pancakes. Dutch pancakes are crepe-like, but everything is on top. The American pancakes were what you'd expect. The Dutch pancake tasted good, but it was a little dry. I've heard you're supposed to put syrup on them, but that didn't feel right with ham and cheese. Overall this place wasn't life changing, but it was a satisfying place to get breakfast. The restaurant is in a convenient location right near the train station.

The place has an incredible personality starting with the super narrow stairs you have to climb to get there. Gives you a feeling of a quirky fun atmosphere with teapots hanging from the ceiling. I suggest you order a savory and a sweet pancake so you can compare. We pick "The King" for sweet, with strawberries, powder sugar and whipped cream and the bacon, cheese and sugared ginger for savory. Both were really good but my fav definitely was the sweet one. The portion per pancake is enough for one person and they are also perfect for share if you order two or three. There are other pancake places but this one felt authentic!

We were there the day after Kings day and it was a lovely morning. The weather was cool, but not cold and we were able to enjoy the nice breeze and canal boats passing by. I was also able to connect to the WiFi from the Casino across the river. It was weak, but still worked. We were seated outside and waited almost 10 minutes before anyone came by to take our order for food and drinks. We ordered the banana crepe to share and I got a coffee while my wife ordered the pear juice. The pair juice comes from a bottle. The coffee was served in a small cup and was ok. I am used to drinking it with cream and sweetener. But Europeans don't have these items, so I just drank it with sugar. I think we waited almost 30 minutes before our food came out. Now, we only ordered crepes with bananas inside. Usually at the mall, it takes a few minutes to make crepes. I don't know how it took almost 30 minutes for them to make 1 item. Mind you, the place was not full when we came, so I don't understand how long we had to wait for our server to order our food and why it took so long for them to make our food. Once it finally came out, I thought the crepe was good, but not out of your mind fantastic. It's just basic tbh. Will I ever come back, probably not due to the wait time and the food wasn't all that great.
