Cocina 35 serves up some of the best traditional Mexican chilaquiles in town (the way my Nana used…read moreto make them). As soon as you walk into the restaurant you are met with the smoky aroma of toasted corn, simmering chilies, and roasted vegetables. I ordered The Rancheros! A perfect blend of salsa ranchera, beef chorizo, and a scrambled egg. The chorizo had a kick of spiciness! My daughter ordered the grand daddy of chilaquiles- De Mercado! A rich, savory comfort dish simmered in tangy tomatillo sauce, topped with tender, slow-cooked shredded pork. Both dishes were packed with flavor! To drink, I recommend ordering La Verde- a traditional Mexican aqua fresca infused with cucumber, lime and chia seeds! This drink was fire!!! My daughter ordered the Mexican Iced Latte- which was a bold, and refreshing coffee drink that balanced rich chocolate with warm spices! Overall, service was impeccable! The ambiance was colorful and vibrant! Love the décor! My only gripe would be to suggest turning on the air conditioner. At times, the dining hall became excessively hot and somewhat uncomfortable.

She asked if it was our first time, offered thoughtful recommendations for those of us new to the menu, and maintained a warm, genuine smile throughout our visit. Her charisma and enthusiasm truly elevated our experience. Yajaira checked in consistently, making sure we had everything we needed and asking how she could make our experience even better. Her attentiveness did not go unnoticed. Kudos to management for bringing such a talented and dedicated individual onto the team. As always, the food here is exceptional. We tried two types of chilaquiles--La Bomba and Cremosos--and both were absolutely exquisite. The aguas frescas were refreshing, and the addition of tajín on the rim was a beautiful touch that celebrates authentic Mexican culinary traditions. My companion ordered the pancakes, and the café de olla was simply outstanding. It was midday, and the San Diego sunshine made the experience even more enjoyable as we sat outside in their charming garden patio. We will be back

Great for a start to CV Sunday Funday. The BF and I split the Sopes Duo (Birria and Chorizo) and a Margarita and Mimosa Flight. Great drink flavors, all served up in cute flights. They even hand out little sweet treats and chips and salsa with the meal. Honestly no complaints with great service.

The real problem was what happened afterward. Five out of the nine people in our party became seriously ill after eating here. My sister and three of the kids experienced severe diarrhea, and I ended up in the ER with severe abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea. I was diagnosed with colitis/inflammation of the colon consistent with foodborne illness. Four days later, I'm still dealing with cramping and difficulty tolerating food. This experience will likely end up costing me over $1,000 in medical expenses between the ER visit, testing, and treatment. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had after eating at a restaurant. I normally would not leave a review like this, but I feel other customers should be aware and the restaurant should investigate its food handling practices.

The first time we went I ordered the garlic green beans which were actually no longer on the menu. They were quite tasty. I also ordered a side of fried chicken which was also good. The second time we went I got the chicken wings and the side ceaser salad. The wings were not crispy enough and there was zero flavor in the breading. The salad was boring. Hubby got the cobb salad which was a large portion but otherwise just ok. note that there is no outdoor seating so leave Fido home. Probably would not bother coming back here.

This is always a great sign. The manager, Ben, is awesome. He greeted us and added us to the waitlist. We were seated after 10mins of waiting in a great spot. Our favorite server, Nathan, is a lead now. We were seated in Matt's area and he was our server. Nathan came by to say hi and greet us, this is excellent customer service here. Matt was also great and customer service oriented and he took our order for table apps and drinks. The ambiance here is fun, family friendly, cool, and good vibes all around. They have a DJ some Saturdays. There are also very cool theme nights. Tonight was "Wing Wednesday". I posted a photo of the theme nights. For example, Thursday is Teachers 15% Discount Day and Karaoke. The walls, seating, and table decor is very nice. The design element here is wonderful. Our food: Bulgogi Fries App for the table starter, Fish and Chips, Chicken Katsu Plate, Side Order of Garlic Fried Rice, And 10 (4 Salted Pepper, 2 BBQ, 2 Sweet Chili, 2 Buffalo) of the $2 each wings. The food was great! The vibe is awesome, and the overall experience was great. We also got a chance to talk to Ben the Manager, Nathan the lead server, and Matt our server tonight. They all came to check on us to make sure that everything was going well in our dining experience. We HIGHLY recommend stopping here to enjoy a great dining experience.
