I love pancakes, I really do. And luckily, so does my lobster. There aren't a lot of good pancake…read moreplaces in the metro though. Most of them serve flat discs of who-knows-what that reminds you what a pancake would be like if the cook only had the vaguest idea what it ought to be. It hurts my heart to know that they're wrecking pancakes that way, so when I feel exceptionally sad, I go to Pancake House to eat my emotions. Because, let's face it, if you're going to eat your emotions, you might as well go someplace that would make your emotions taste magnificent. Trust me, try their pancake towers. You won't be sorry, and it would go a long way in filling that emotional hole in your chest.

Pancake House branches are all over the country, and while breakfast items are the main draw, they…read moreserve other items (e.g., fried chicken, spaghetti, tacos). Sounds a lot like IHOP in the USA, but I like to think it's at least a step above. The service is quite friendly and accommodating, and the choices are plentiful. I ordered an omelet, which turned out to be one of the best I've had in a while, with fluffy eggs and fresh-tasting, good-quality vegetables. The beef tapa was flavorful without being too greasy or fatty. We can also eagerly recommend the french toast and waffles, which aren't doughy, but fluffy and airy and soft yet crispy in all the right places. (I guess no one went for the actual pancakes that day, lol). Don't forget coffee (decaf and tea are also available!). This Pancake House is a great way to start your day. The prices are reasonable for the area, especially considering the quality.

The Breakfast Bin is offering pancakes, waffles, coffee & juices, and breakfast bowls. Their rice bowl consisted of egg (the way you wanted it) and an option to upgrade your meal with a brewed coffee or talangka rice. Here's what we had: Liempo Strips (P160) Talangka Rice (upgrade, addt'l P55) Breakfast Bin Tapa Bowl Extra Brown Rice (P55) Cappuccino (P80) Extra Bacon Strips (P55- 3 pcs) Let's start with my coffee. It was the foamiest cappuccino I've had in ages! If you're the type who wants your coffee with heaps of creamer (or milk) on it, then this is the right choice for you. I'd tell you a secret. Finish your coffee all the way down and you'll realize that they have added a cocoa on your usual cappuccino cup! No wonder my coffee was tastier than ever. Liempo strips were served with 2 condiments placed in a shot glass - maple syrup & BB's homemade vinegar. The former brought out the flavors of the strips. Hail to it being the recommended dish by Spot.Ph! The tapa bowl with brown rice was amazing as well. My partner is very selective with the dishes but she commended the tapa. It was juicy, tender and has it's own flavor. We were billed around P500 for 2, exclusive of service charge. Is there any way you would expand the place to cater group diners?

Beautifully designed, Rustic Mornings gives you an experience. This new location feels a bit more…read moreartsy, with a tad more whimsy and a hint more liveliness to it. But the food is still the food. So on to that: - Beef Tapa: My favourite dish of the meal. Beef was tender, thinly sliced, with that perfect tangy-sweet flavour balance. - Sardine and Sundried Tomato Pasta: Strong flavours that perfectly matched. Generous amount of sardines and studied tomatoes went well with the al dente pasta. A wonderfully done pasta by a place I associate with breakfast food. - Crispy Plain Waffles: Pretty tasty on its own (which is a good sign), though a bit too crispy and chewy for me. - Pancakes: Soft and pillowy. Definitely preferred these to the waffles. - Spinach, Mushroom and Cheese Omelette: The omelette was melt-in-your-mouth fluffy. Unfortunately it was also a bit bland. Good amount of cheese but would have liked more mushrooms and spinach. - Hazelnut Coffee: Strong hazelnut taste. Appreciated that it wasn't watered down. Service was attentive and efficient. Prices are fairly reasonable. And again, that beautiful space to laze the mornings away. A delightful spot overall.

Matteo's All Day Breakfast

No matter what time or day it is, breakfast food is just one of those things that I can never get…read moreenough of. My favorites being bacon and eggs, pancake and sausages, to even simple stuff like a bowl of frosted flakes and milk. Here in the metro, its hard enough to find that kind of combination, that's open all day; most of what we have here being mostly outdoor karinderia consisting of goto/lugaw or the usual "silog" type options. When I saw the very few reviews for Matteo's All Day Breakfast place, it definitely piqued my interest, especially with my recent bad experience with Kanto Freestyle. So we went there first thing in the morning. Place The place itself is pretty small, consisting of only around 5 tables. Regardless, the ambiance itself is quite homey. They didn't pack and cramp the place up, like some restos do. So there's a lot of space to move around in your seat and be comfortable; without having to mind your table/seat neighbors. It's pretty well lit, with just the right soft music going on. Food The food is somewhere between American and Filipino. They serve mostly breakfast, such as pancakes, omelettes and "silog" options, with some "lunch" viands such as sisig and liempo. We ordered the eggs benedict, bacon-silog, and sizzling sisig, with some revel bar for dessert. The first thing I noticed? How crispy their bacon was! It was just the right amount of saltiness (Believe me, it matters. Because most bacon here in the ph is just too salty) and oh so crispy. It reminded me of the Kirkland brand bacon I normally buy at Costco. Paird with scrambled eggs, rice, salted eggs and atchara. Everything went so well together. Their eggs benedict was pretty well cooked, comparing it to others that I've tried in the past. That smooth hollandaise sauce and luscious egg yolk, makes for a decadent treat. This is a must try. Sisig was also pretty good; albeit the small serving size. It was crispy and flavorful, although I feel that it was lacking something. Just not sure what. I'm not a fan of desserts, so don't take my word for it, but the revel bar.. could definitely have been better. It seemed like it was too crumbly, too sweet, and tasted old. You know how brownies and/or cookies get, when they've been hanging around for sometime? They end up tasting like a box of carton or something. Who knows. That's just my opinion. Price The price range is a little on the expensive side, considering other restaurants that I've been to. Don't let the price tag be a hindrance to trying it out though. For their price versus the portion and suberb quality, I'd say it's just about right. After all, I did spend the same amount on the likes of Cafe Lidia, Kanto Freestyle, etc who were only subpar. Returnability Absolutely! They're so close by (of course this is subjetive) and they offer quality food and service. I'm already looking forward to trying out the other food options they offer. I hope their quality doesn't change as time passes by though.
