After hearing so many friends rave about this bakery, I had to check it out for myself. Since I was already in East San José, it was the perfect opportunity. They have an amazing variety of Colombian bread! I decided to try the Hojaldre de Pollo (Chicken Puff Pastry), Guava & Cheese Croissant, and a Mojicón filled with Arequipe (Dulce de Leche). Yeah, I got a little carried away, but I was excited!! The best part? The bread was incredibly delicious! You can really taste the buttery, flaky goodness and the love they put into every bite. This is the first time since living in the Bay Area that I've found something that truly tastes like real Colombian bread. For those who don't know, Colombian bakeries are unique because they offer a wide variety of both savory and sweet breads, blending different cultural influences like European techniques (French croissants, Spanish bread), Indigenous ingredients (cassava, corn), and African culinary traditions (coconut, panela, and more). It's the perfect example of how sweet and savory coexist beautifully in Colombian baking. And since they offer everything from pandebono and buñuelos to pan aliñado and ham & cheese croissants, I already know I'll be coming back for more! On top of that, the atmosphere truly captures the essence of a classic panadería--warm, welcoming, and filled with the irresistible smell of freshly baked bread. The service was also great, making the whole experience even better.

Drove by this spot and I saw the big sign that said Colombian Bakery. Made a u-turn and had to try it since I'm going to Colombia soon. Workers didn't speak English and I had to pull out the phone for translation assistance. He explained what they had. So I bought some bake goods. My favorite one was the bread with guava filling. I wish it had a better ratio of filling. I had the empanada, it was by far the least favorite empanada I have ever had. It was dry and bland. Had the croissant too, and it was just okay. I seen a few people eating tamales so I decided to order one. Let's just say it had one piece of chicken leg and it was flavorless. Wasn't a fan of the tamales because it was too bland for me. Then it had pork fat. That turned me off. It was just fat no meat. Didn't finish it. You get 3 bake goods for $10. I can't wait to go to Colombia and try what I tried at this place to compare it. However, the staff is great here. Friendly and helpful regardless of the language barrier. Glad I had a Pony Malta to wash it all down. Well, at least I tried it because it's not often you see a Colombian bakery.

Poor customer service. I was waiting in line and ignored while another customer was helped. I was excited to try this place too.

Somehow he came across a YouTube ad for this restaurant and convinced me to make the drive all the way to San Jose... and wow, it was absolutely worth it! From the moment we walked in, the service was welcoming and attentive. The food? Incredible. Everything was packed with authentic flavor, beautifully presented, and honestly brought back memories of our trip to Colombia. We ordered the house specials along with a few Colombian beers, and the entire experience was just perfect. It's not every day you find a place that's worth fighting Bay Area traffic for, but this spot definitely is. Great atmosphere, delicious food, amazing service -- we will absolutely be coming back again. Highly recommend if you're looking for authentic Colombian flavor and a fun dining experience.

It has a super homey, welcoming vibe. Here is the breakdown of what we ordered: Bistec with Chorizo: The serving size was huge! Definitely big enough for two light eaters. It was really tasty overall, though I do wish the beef had been a bit more tender. Beef Empanadas: Hands down, some of the better ones I've ever had. The skin was thin and perfectly crispy, and the filling was packed with flavor. Pair them with their chili oil sauce... yumm! To top it off, our waitress was incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. I'll definitely be returning to try some new dishes next time!

You Guava be Kidding Me…read more A bakery and juicery that has been serving up delicious Colombian specialties since 1999 in Colombia, before emigrating to the US and opening up shop here in Cambrian Park in 2014. Milohas (mil hojas) means a thousand layers in Spanish, and one taste of Milohas' pastries will make you understand why they picked that moniker. The Good: * Large shared parking lot * Friendly service * Covered outdoor dining * The crust of the empanadas was buttery, flaky, and delicious. All the fillings were good, but you have to try the Hawaiian filling! It was truly fantastic and had us wishing that's all we'd ordered. * Guava Finger has the same perfect crust and tasty guava jam--I could eat a dozen of these and come back for more. *oink oink* * Carissa really enjoyed their lentil soup. I didn't try it, so I can't comment. The Meh: * I kind of prefer the chunks of meat in Peruvian empanadas to the ground meat in Colombian ones, but that's just a personal preference. It was still delicious, so at the end of the day, it's all academic. The Ugly: * No indoor dining, and outdoor dining is limited to only a handful of seats. Conclusion: We've been on the hunt for the best empanadas in the South Bay, and we finally found them.

Finally tried Milohas as they've been on my list for a while and have a lot of great reviews. Oh…read moreman, was I disappointed. Ordered two empanadas: Spinach & Cheese and a Chicken & Potato. I wanted to get some desert items but they seemed to have very few things to choose from. I would have asked questions but inside the store was strangely loud and the woman who helped me was a low talker so I couldn't understand anything she was saying to me as it was. The empanadas are pretty large, as are the prices. $17 for the two. At this price point I was glad I decided not to buy more. Each comes with a tiny side of aji green sauce. They could have been more generous here. I found the spinach to be very salty and more breading than filling. The chicken one was a letdown. Chicken was lacking any flavor. For both the pastry was dry. Was only able to eat half of each and threw the rest away. Not really the kind of place you dine in for. You order at the counter and there is limited seating inside (in a way that makes you not want to dine in), and a few seats outside. Plenty of parking in the shopping center lot. This visit and subsequent review makes me feel sad. I want to support these unique, independent eateries but they make it difficult when the quality doesn't meet the high cost. Improvements would be to reevaluate their recipes, make the pastries less dry and dense, and maybe don't be so skimpy on the fillings.

I ordered the Sobrebarriga En Salsa Criolla - steak with yucca in a sauce that came with a side of rice and avocado slices. It was delicious, had a nice presentation, and I definitely had leftovers at the end of the meal. For my drink, I ordered Maracuya with a milk base. It's basically a passionfruit smoothie. I liked how it wasn't overly sweet. Service - our server was friendly, did well with clearing our table. Ambiance - colorful, giving off a nice Latin flare. There were references to Columbia on the walls, and Latin music playing. We have come here previously for the empanadas, and those were delightful as well. We'll definitely be back. :-)

He gave us 4 different menus but only 1 had updated prices. All but one menu was in Spanish so we had to pull up the Yelp reviews to see what was good to order. After a little while, the server came to check on us. We ordered 2 beef and 1 chicken empanadas. I liked the beef over the chicken. They were tasty. They were really crispy on the outside, hot and filling on the inside. Served with a yummy citrus-y like pico de gallo. We ordered the Arepa Rellena De Queso. It's like a cheese stuffed corn pita. The cheese was not as flavorful/salty as we had wished, so it lacked that flavor we were expecting to ooze. The Bandeja Paisa dish we ordered came with rice, beans, chorizo sausage, thin piece of chicharron, a thin piece of unseasoned carne asada, a fried egg, a fried plantain, guacamole and what seemed like a round, flattened piece of overcooked rice? I'm starting to notice that unless the meat is sausage, the steaks are not very well seasoned. The plantain was the most flavorful part of that dish, since it had the natural sweetness. The chicharron lacked that crunch we were used to. I got the end piece, so I got luckier than the rest of the family. I realized just now that we didn't get the blood sausage that everyone else got, and I had to look at my receipt again to make sure that we in fact did order the Bandeja Paisa, and we did. That's disappointing. Also I just noticed on the receipt I was charged a "Kitchen Appreciation" charge. Ummm... excuse me???!! I would have appreciated it if you hadn't forgotten my blood sausage from my $27 dish! The Arroz con Pollo had sausage and chicken in the rice with ketchup on top, served with a small salad with guacamole and french fries. I'm starting to see a pattern and that the meat aren't really seasoned. A lot of sauces and dips are used to substitute, and the drinks are a lot more on the carbonated sour/bitter side, with a bit of an aftertaste. The customer service is great, but I don't know if this unseasoned food is my kind of taste.
