For more than 15 years, I searched for an orthodontist who would be willing and able to treat her. During that time, we had consultations with more than two dozen orthodontists in both private practices and teaching institutions. Nearly every doctor told me they could not help because my daughter was unable to consistently follow directions due to her disability. One even told me not to "interfere with Mother Nature." Year after year, I continued searching, hoping to find someone who would give my daughter a chance. Every orthodontist explained that they could not develop a treatment plan because my daughter was unable to complete a panoramic X-ray, which is essential for treatment planning. Dr. Banh was different. From the very beginning, he was willing to help despite knowing the challenges he would face with my daughter's behavior and intellectual disability. His assistant, Selina, was also incredible. She successfully obtained a panoramic X-ray--something no other orthodontic office had been able to accomplish. In more than 15 years, I found only two orthodontists willing to treat my daughter. However, only Dr. Banh was able to obtain the necessary imaging and develop a comprehensive treatment plan. After reviewing her X-rays, he recommended extractions because of the severe overcrowding. Looking back, I truly believe his treatment plan was the right one for my daughter. Before treatment, brushing her teeth was a daily struggle. Her teeth were so crowded and overlapped so severely that food constantly became trapped, making it difficult to keep her teeth clean. Today, her orthodontic treatment is complete, her teeth are beautifully straight, and brushing her teeth is so much easier. Seeing her smile now brings so much joy to our entire family. Throughout her treatment, there were many appointments where my daughter screamed, cried, resisted treatment, and had difficulty cooperating. Despite these challenges, Dr. Banh, Selina, and the entire office staff were always patient, compassionate, and respectful. They never made us feel unwelcome or like my daughter was too difficult to treat. Instead, they treated her with kindness, dignity, and genuine care. What impressed me most about Dr. Banh was not only his clinical expertise but also his integrity and compassion. He saw beyond my daughter's disability and focused on giving her the best possible care. Here are some key aspects that really caught my eye- organization, final alignment result and staff Organization: The office is clean, tidy, and organized. The staff is great with booking appointments and keeping to their schedules without rushing their patients. They must've found a sweet spot for amount of staff because most of my visits I was seen as soon as I signed in. The longest I waited was 10 minutes. I think that's great considering how many patients they see and factoring in cancelations or procedures that require a little more time to be thorough. I did appreciate the amount of text reminders for my appointments. It was enough without being bombarding. Adjustments/alignments/final result: My adjustments were painless, quick and thorough. There were times where my teeth were sensitive during some procedures, but very doable. It helped to know that Dr. Y and her assistants gave full attention to body reactions or signals to stop what they are doing. I am pleased with the final result of my teeth alignment and will now be wearing my retainer as directed. Staff- Professional, warm, and knowledgable. Dolores and Sylvia were the two main ladies that would help book my appointments and chatted with me which started my dental visits of on a happy note. If patients are required to sign in, it is reasonable to expect that the sign-in sheet is actively reviewed. Otherwise, the purpose of having patients sign in is unclear. My daughter even told me that one of the receptionist with blond hair acknowledged her when she waved hello and signed in her name so I don't understand why the other receptionist twisted things around saying they didn't know my daughter was there for her appointment and requested us to reschedule to another day. I took time off work and pulled my daughter out of school early for this appointment, only for our time to be wasted and the blame shifted onto a minor who had properly checked in.
