Palumbo Liquors is located in the same plaza as the Big Y, directly on Rte 1. There are several liquor stores in the vicinity but this one stands out for several reasons. The selection of liquor, wine and beer is enough to satisfy anyones needs, their prices are low and the staff are very helpful. They stock a variety of makes of rum, vodka, gin, tequila, etc as well as their own labels. On a recent trip I cam across Boru Vodka and Trader Vics Spiced Rum and enjoyed them both. I've tried some of the Palumbo label items such as the vodka and it is about what you'd expect from a discount brand. I think the vodka and rum selections contain the most brands. The beer selection runs the gamut from crap to premium and they have several micro-brews off to the left side of the main coolers. The bottle return is quick and unlike some other places they don't treat you like a second class citizen for bringing back your empties. The only issue I discovered was one micro-brew for sale that was 8 weeks past its stated good date. That was in the dry storage area of the store in the back by the returns. I've never had an issue drinking a beer past this date but since I never had this particular brand I wasn't going to start. The one beer they have to stop selling is Landshark, which is just terrible! I'm not much of a wine person but each time I go there I always see people with 3 or 4 bottles in their carts. I leave the wine selections up to my more refined friends. They are not open on Sundays so go there on a Saturday to stock up for the Pats games. read more

I am always a fan of a liquor store that is located next to a grocery store. It makes shopping for a dinner so much easier. Unfortunately, most set up this way don't have a large selection. Palumbo's does. Big plus in my book. Almost every time I go in here, someone asks me if I need any suggestions or help, but not in an accost you way, in a pleasant trying to be nice way. I like that. I can tell that the people who work here have worked here for awhile as they know almost everyone who goes through the lines. This could make it slow at times, but it also makes it a friendly environment. read more

Apparently on the East Coast, you can't buy liquor at a grocery store like you do in CA. You buy the liquor at the liquor store then go to the grocery store for the mixers. So we went here, and it literally was a huge room full of liquor. Anything you need, they had. It's an alcoholic's heaven. It's the equivalent to a shoe store for Carrie Bradshaw. Needless to say I was happy to be here, and we stocked up for what we needed for the weekend in Boston/Walpole. The lady at the counter was really nice BTW. read more

I've been shopping at Palumbo's for a few years now and I can honestly say this is one of the better liquor stores in the area. They carry a goodly amount of craft beers and the staff is very knowledgeable about them. I've tried many different brews based on their recommendations and have been pleasantly surprised each time. Fran (the owner) has good taste in wine. While I'm not a big wine drinker I do appreciate a properly paired wine to compliment a meal. Fran has helped me on several occasions pick out the right wines to go with my cooking. The prices here are better than what you'll get in other places along RT1. The selection of hard liquors is the best around here. read more

Big emporium of all sorts of hooch in a strip mall off the highway. A massive parking lot with a big Chinese buffet place and a Christian book store. Huge windows plastered with beer specials. You know the type of place. Not a bad place to pick up a case of beer when you're in town. But what really shocked me was the whisky. Those who read my reviews are aware that I love the stuff like nothing else. I wasn't expecting a strip mall liquor store in a suburb to have such a great selection. Small batch American rye? This is one of the worst liquor stores EVER. The manager is a drunk. Go in any day after 4:00pm and the manager Fran will be slurring his speech and waxing poetic about his flawed wine knowledge. Stay away!!! All the product is really old and the shelves are dusty. Add to that the unhelpful and unknowable staff and you have the most depressing booze shop ever. There selection is pathetic unless you want low end product (they have plenty of that). Stay away from Palumbo - It is where happiness goes to die!!!! read more

This place is not very good. Prices are high and the people working here are miserable. Lines move slow, rugs need to be cleaned, and they need a serious remodel. I like old school places that look old but are clean, but this place is just dirty. read more

I drive by this place twice every day to and from work. I was stopping by the grocery store next door this evening to grab some things on the way home and figured I'd check out the liquor store. It's always nice to have a convenient place to grab some beer on the way home. Anyway, the front door has a sign that states "MA Driver License or Passport Only." Being a resident of Rhode Island (about 15 miles away), I stopped and turned away, never to return. I don't understand the logic of this decision. Are they too stupid to determine if out of state licenses are valid? This being New England and the next state being 15 miles away you'd think they'd have this stuff all figured out. So I give it a single star without ever having stepped foot in the place. read more

Love this place. Great selection. Everything you could possibly want. It's perfect too because it's on the way to gilettle and you can stock up for the tailgate. Only thing to note is that on Sunday you can't buy booze before noon so plan accordingly. I honestly have not idea as to why they have 2.5 stars - must be because the visitors team fans are rude. read more

Great choices abound at this liquor store which I have been frequenting for a good many years. Their wine selection range from a reasonable hit on your pocket to a "Gee Whiz, it's that much?" But that just shows that their clientele is varied. They also have an excellent selection of beer, both foreign and domestic, and they carry more spirits than those that creep around the City of Salem, MA at Halloween. Great place, friendly staff and these days it sits next door to a supermarket and near to a coffee shop of well known repute. What more can you ask for? read more

Only good things I can say is that 1. Palumbos is convenient because it is located next to Big Y and 2.the lady at the check out is very nice and 3. they carry some decent beers (although some unfiltered ones were kept on the shelf and not in the cooler) (and prices for most are not posted). On the down side however, it is pretty high priced compared to other liquor stores in the area which would be okay if you are in a rush. The biggest problems are the guys that work there. They are unfriendly, not very knowledgeable and act like it is a major inconvenience if you try to return a bottle there. And if they suspect you did not buy it there, they will treat you like you are a thief-yes-for a nickle! They stroked out when I returned 3 six packs and the bottles were mixed up and they had to rearrange the 18 bottles-even though there were 3 guys standing around doing nothing when I went back to the bottle return area. This store is convenient, but the customer service is horrible. I returned bottles/cans for beer I bought there--two guys just standing there complaining that the can brands were not sorted and were instead mixed. Here I was so proud of myself that I got them neatly in boxes!! This was the third time the have complained to me--gee, to think they may have to do work! I am done with this store and will take my business elsewhere. Don't need their attitude. read more

I do not know if the Medfield store is part of the Walpole store, but I will never shop in the Medfield store again! Very poor customer service and the manager /owner was an ignorant moron. There was a sign on the cooler door advertising a beer for $11.99 a twelve pack. There were no 12 packs so I took 2 six packs to the counter. The price rang up at a higher price so I questioned the price. The clerk and I went to see if there were any 12 packs and there were none. The clerk went to the manager, he looked turned to me and said "must be sold out" then he turned and walked into the office. Not a dramatic issue just real poor customer service. I will be sure to tell 10 friends not to shop there again! read more
