Been to Palomino more times than I can count now, and it continues to be delicious. They've got a small menu, but do everything well. Trust that anything you order is going to be solid. I went with the Hot Honey Chicken Biscuit this week, the Wednesday special, and it was so good. The biscuit was warm and flaky, the fried chicken was tender and juicy, the hot honey added just the right amount of heat without being overbearing. The fries, as per usual, were crispy and salty -- the perfect accompaniment. My dining companion and I snagged a slice of Cookies n' Cream pie for dessert. It was creamy and a touch chocolaty without being too sweet or heavy. Highly recommend. Service is consistently great. Vibes are immaculate. Visit Palomino.

The food was good but the service was just kindof "eh"--we felt like we were kindof a nuisance to them even though it wasn't wildly busy? I'd come back to try again!

Went for the first time today & loved it!! Burgers were juicy with tons of flavor & fries were crispy with a good amount of flavor. My fiancé is gluten intolerant & the staff was super knowledgeable and they had a great gluten free bun option. Service was unmatched with the most incredible server who consistently checked in & really made our experience great. The vibes in the restaurant were immaculate. Will definitely be back!!

Great corner bar in a cool pocket of the Bayview neighborhood. The bar has changed over the years, it has downsized and they now offer a more limited menu. They still are a great spot for a drink and serve some solid food. They have an absolutely killer hot fried chicken sandwich, might be the best in the city. They have a solid brisket burger, wings, salad and they serve a Friday Fish Fry. Every so often they do some pop ups and they have a beer and burger deal ($15) weekdays from 4-6. They also have a nice patio out front on those nice summer Wisco days. A solid bar with good food and drinks. Great spot to check out before or after a show at Cactus Club next door.

Tried just updating my review with pics. Was wondering whether this place is back up for food like it was before

I love Georgia peaches and when i found out that Palomino is doing a peach popup special memu, I was totally in! The sangria was delish and the peach compote on the cookie hit the spot. I love the vibe of this bar and absolutely will be going to revisit soon.

Palomino is a great local bar in a fantastic neighborhood in Bayview. Unpretentious, Palomino is purported to have a good kitchen, but we didn't eat on this particular evening. Henry was our barkeep when I sat down with two friends. He served great drinks and answered my questions with aplomb. I love living in Bayview.

Great little bar/restaurant. While it looks like just a typical bar, the food was actually pretty good and better than I expected. I got the cheeseburger, simple, but got the job done. They had a decent craft beer list as well, several good WI beers, many of which I hadn't had. Lots of TVs to watch sports games, and I think some pool tables and dart boards as well. It was a cool vibe. Not too fancy or formal, but not grungey or divey either. It's near a few other spots within walking distance so you could make this a stop along a bar crawl in the area.

At some point between the end of 2019 and early 2021 I found out about Palomino and saw some of the most amazing looking cheese curds I've ever seen. Problem was, their hours had been cut back due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the one time I was able to stop based on their website saying they were open, I didn't see that they had posted on social media that they were unexpectedly closed until later that day. Undeterred, I finally made it to Palomino to try the cheese curds that I had been longing for and, I feared, overhyped in my mind. The cheese curds are not the best I've ever had or even the best I've recently had (those belong to The Hale House), but damn they were good and you get a TON of them. You can tell they were freshly battered by the fact that the breading stuck together on various pieces and there were extra little bits of delicious fried batter in the bottom of my to go box. The breading had a unique flavor that I could tell includes pepper, but couldn't place anything specific beyond that. I'm glad I never gave up on my desire to try these and look forward to having them again.

We headed to Palomino for a late lunch today. Part of our group had been there before and part had not. Right now they are only doing outdoor seating and you order at a window on the side of the building. The menu isn't huge, but there's definitely something for everyone! I also noticed they had quite a few vegan and gluten free options. I had the pulled pork and it was delicious! It was really juicy though, so I did have to eat it with a fork and knife to avoid a big mess. I also had the pimento Mac n cheese, which was a great side for the pulled pork. My only critique is that they use wooden utensils. They're a little difficult to use and there was definitely a wooden taste to my Mac n cheese using that fork. Other than that, everything was great and I would definitely recommend taking the time to stop by!

Amazing service, and great variety of food for a fairly small menu! The food takes what you know as "bar food" to the next level.

Hot fried chicken sandwich - double

Palomino is a Bay View staple with consistently good food, pleasant service, and a nice, casual atmosphere. It had been a while since I had eaten here, and it seems they have redone the menu. Plenty of good-looking options were available, and there is an extensive drink list. If you're looking for a casual, reasonably priced place for dinner in Bay View, Palomino is a good choice. I opted for the Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich (double) and my friend went with the Shrimp Po'boy. We both enjoyed our meals, and the portions were quite large. A copious amount of fresh French fries made half the sandwich enough for me (yay leftovers). The sauce on the fried chicken was excellent; spicy but not overwhelming. The chicken was cooked well, and the breading was nice, not soggy. The house made pickles were a nice touch. Palomino has plenty of craft beers on tap to choose from, which I appreciated. I look forward to returning to Palomino sooner rather than later. It looks like they still have the Chicken & Waffle on their brunch menu, which was my favorite in the past, so maybe next time it will be for brunch and one of their delicious Bloody Marys.

The greeting from the hostess was warm and friendly; she is an asset and really makes you feel welcome. Once we were seated and finally finished our struggle with what to order, we got our drinks. I had to go with the One Night in Bangkok again because it's just a really nuanced and complex mix of tangy, spicy and a hint of sweet. The smoke show also is impressive. My cousin tried the Berry-cation from the summer menu and it was perfect for her - very fresh and a little sweeter. Cousin-in-law got the Thai Goddess, with tomato, and it was very interesting - not quite fruity and not overly vegetal - very cool. Our food was amazing. The first several minutes were just a series of different people saying "Oh my God" as we tried different things. There was no weak dish. We enjoyed a good mix of seafood and meat dishes, that included Golden Fungi, Phuket Jor Pu, Namya Pu, Kurobuta Pork in Panang Curry Sauce, Hung Lay Short Ribs, the Samurai Signature Set, Kinnic Crisp Shell, Nam Prik Aon, Waygu A Rockfire, Mango Sticky Rice and a complementary birthday Yuzu Cheesecake. The food was wonderful, I loved the summer cocktail, and the crab rangoon was the best I've had in quite some time. The golden fungi was pleasantly spicy and so crispy, my friend who doesn't like mushrooms enjoyed it. I loved the chashu bao buns, the pork was so tender and the softness of the bao buns was very nice. Definitely have to stop by and give them a try, I know I'd like to again.
