Cheese dip was good. Taco salad wasn't great (steak meat was chewy). Camarones Ala diablo was a solid 3 stars, but it was hot as hell. I love spicy food, but it is hard to enjoy when your eyes are tearing up and snot is coming out of your nose. Drinks were okay. The bartender put too much spice around the rim. The condensation was causing it to drip down the glass, making a hell of a mess. Service was terrible. Were were the first people there for lunch. One table that came in 10 minutes after us, changed twice while we were there. The waitress was MIA multiple times. There is another Mexican restaurant in Carolina Beach that is just a few blocks away, which is much better. I doubt I'll be back.

Salsa wasn't spicy, which is how I prefer it. There was an awkward wait being seated, as I was greeted by the bartender, then she disappeared, then greeted me again and finally told me I could sit anywhere I like. I grabbed a menu and had a seat and a different employee came to get my order. She was very nice and attentive. The inside was bright and lively with music playing. They also have outdoor seating available, but it was pretty windy outside with a storm coming in, so it was empty. The only downside to this restaurant is that there is only about 3 spots for cars to park near the entrance, as their parking lot to the left is completely blocked off with concrete barriers and the parking lot to the right is solely for the restaurant to the right of this one. I ended up having to park across the street in the pay-per-hour parking. That's a bummer.

A majority of the staff were welcoming, but when we first arrived, no one acknowledged or greeted us for about five minutes while we waited to be seated. Mind you, there was a line so acknowledging our presence would have been appreciated. There were also quite a few dirty tables that had not been cleared, which seemed to delay seating for everyone. I'm not entirely sure how their first-come, first-served policy works, but when it was our turn as a party of two, we were told the wait would be another 30 minutes. I had pointed at a table that people were sitting at and were boxing food and I asked if this table was available. She said no because that table was a table for four. I've actually been here with my husband and sat at said table of four. The party of four behind us was seated immediately, at that table. I completely understand that larger tables are often reserved for bigger groups, especially during busy hours, but it became frustrating when we ended up waiting over an hour for our food. The table seated after us had already eaten, paid and left before we even received our meals. There were also several careless mistakes throughout the experience. My cup arrived with lipstick stains and smudges on it. They did apologize and replace it immediately, which I appreciated. A dishwasher not washing a lipstick stain is not really in their control, but it is in their control to serve me a dirty glass. When my food arrived, it was completely covered in sesame seeds to the point that it looked excessive and unintentional. My husband actually watched the girl, who was the one in charge I guess of filling sauce and grabbing dishes from the kitchen, dump the sesame seeds onto the plate, and even our waiter, who was not the person handling the dish, agreed that it looked drenched in them. They corrected the issue for us, but for a meal that cost over $100 (including tip, for a table of 2) without alcohol, I expected more attention to detail. They were all really understanding of the issues and corrected them. On top of that, someone who was not our server added two extra drinks to our bill when we were paying. That was $11 on our bill. Again, mistakes happen, especially in busy restaurants, but after multiple issues throughout the meal, it started to feel careless rather than accidental. I do appreciate that staff tried to fix the problems when we brought them up, but I wish there had been more mindfulness and attention to detail overall.

One morning with 2 breakfasts & 2 coffees + tip it was $70. Ouch! Lovely food choices, some great healthy choices & some delicious griddle offerings. Glass cups small & get cold fast. It's great decor & has a modern-bright-beach-vibe. Super clean as its new, hope it stays that way (happens a lot here locally that restaurants get kinda dirty, we travel a lot & especially in Raleigh the restaurants there are always kept very clean even over years in business).

We were next and got the last table for two. The place was completely full. After reading the menu, the daily special was 1/2 price burgers. They also gave first responders 20% off on Mondays. They have specials every night, so it is worth it to check that out before coming in. We started with a basket of hush puppies and corn muffins with yummy molasses butter. If you get in between 3:30 and 5pm, appetizers are 1/2 price Monday through Friday. I can see why this place is so busy! So I decided on a burger, who can pass up half price day? And we also got the knuckle sandwich, which was 20% off for first responders, so my hubs got that. Off to a good start. Also tried fresh squeezed lemonade, really delicious and fair priced. The burger and the sandwich were huge, we both had to take half to go. You get one side for $1.50, but added sides are $4 each. Still ok since the prices are good. There were charges for the added bacon and cheese on my burger but still at half price, it is a great deal. The restaurant is very rustic, pub atmosphere and very relaxed. The bar was completely full, so that must be the highlight of the restaurant. Looked lively and busy. Service is very good, the servers come back to check on you often. Chloe was very sweet and attentive. The only disappointment was dessert. We chose the cake of the day. It was chocolate Bundt cake with cinnamon frosting. To be completely honest, it tasted like boxed cake mix and canned frosting. It was very small, so I knew it was probably cake mix. There was nothing special about this; it was also pretty dry. Even if they purchased their desserts from a local bakery, it would have been better than what we got. I won't say avoid all their desserts, but I wanted to point out the cake specifically. So overall: The prices were excellent, food and service is really great, and the pub atmosphere was nice and comfortable. The plus was that on a busy night, we didn't wait for a table. They do not do reservations so prepare to wait, or just go earlier. I would definitely come back here, and enjoy some more of the large menu. 5 stars
