I thought that I had found an honest plumber but after today I know better. Nate had installed a hot water heater at my home and so I recommended him to my girlfriend for the same service. Nate came to her home and quoted an estimate for the replacement and for 2 other minor jobs in her home. He didn't bring the part necessary to fix a leaking shower and stated that he would meet me the next day at 2pm to fix the shower. I paid him cash for the hot water replacement and after waiting for 30 min for him to show up the next day I called and he said he would call me right back. after another 20 minutes he texted and said he would send a friend to do the work for $500! I called and asked how long it would take for his friend to get to our home and it would have been another 45 min to an hour. I've used Palomar plumbing in the past and had an excellent experience with the staff and service I was provided. This last time, however, I called to try to schedule someone to come out and received a text a few hours later saying someone would be able to come out in the afternoon. Totally fine and unexpected as I anticipated I'd have to wait a couple days. However, never had anyone come by that afternoon nor did I receive a follow up call or text message. Completely understandable if someone was not able to make it out as anticipated, but I would expect they would at least let me know and schedule another time. After a somewhat rocky start, I'm ready to really sing the praises of the customer service from this company. After making an appointment on Thursday for an estimate today, nobody showed up during the appointment window. Within 10 minutes of expressing my dissatisfaction, I received a phone call offering to make it right. Fernando showed up after hours and has provided so much info regarding navigating the process of remediation and repair from a burst pipe. This whole thing has been frustrating and confusing for a neophyte to the world of dealing with water damage, and Fernando has this "do not worry, we absolutely have you covered" attitude. He was able to address every question we threw at him. In addition, it turns out that getting a second opinion about the leak cause was a good idea - because it wasn't the originally diagnosed cause, it was hidden farther back and would have caused additional problems if we went with the suggestion of the original plumber. So knowledgeable, friendly, experienced, engaging employees and a service ethic that starts at the top. I recently used Palomar Plumbing to Repair a leaking pipe. Their service was fantastic, start to finish. I was quoted a fair price, the plumber arrived on time, acted professionally and courteously, completed all the work timely, and did so within the quoted range. I will definitely use them again, and would recommend them to others. That said, I was recommended a contractor to repair the drywall damage from the leak and due to the repairs, and I would not use his service. The short; always answer their phone, service like you would get from your friend in the business, prompt, clean, fair and reasonable prices. The long; Where to start? Saturday night I discovered a slow leaking water heater in the house we had lived in for just over a year. I called Palomar Plumbing around 9:30pm and Nate answered right away. I had already shut off the water and drained the heater to avoid any more damage. They were willing to come out Saturday night but since we were in no dire need (and I was tired) we set up a time Sunday morning for them to come out. Sunday morning they arrived on-time and were very courteous. They pulled the old water heater down as I was tearing out all of the old, wet, drywall. Nate gave me a few options on how to proceed (different water heaters, brands, types, and installation methods) and we made a decision. They quoted me an extremely reasonable price for removal of the old heater, a new one and all of the parts/pieces needed, setting it up temporarily and then coming back again to place it permanently when I had finished the restoration. They disposed of the old water heater and came back shortly with a new, made-in-America (very important to me), water heater (and even offered to bring me back lunch since I would be working in the garage trying to get all of the old drywall out). When they got back they set up the new, self maintaining, water heater on the ground temporarily while I went through the process of repairing the water damage. Once finished they even offered to take all of the demo material from the wet stuff I had bagged up so that it wouldn't fill my cans. They even fixed the copper drain line that was in a weird place for no additional charge just to make sure it was done right. After repairing the damaged area I called them back (the following Friday) and made arrangements for them to come out to re-place the water heater in the permanent location. They arrived a little early (always a plus) and installed it right where I wanted it, and cleaned up behind themselves like they had never come. Great, excellent, outstanding service! I have never dealt with any plumber (or other small outfit, for that matter) that was this prompt, courteous, helpful and fair. read more

Stumbled onto PALOMAR PLUMBING when trying to find a plumber that actually worked 24/7 as so many claim to. It was 11pm when the search began as my kitchen sink would not drain even after exhausting the tricks I knew and googling how to fix a clogged sink. 1st tried calling 3 different big name companies that all claimed to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Couldn't get anyone to call me back, quote me a price, or even say they would come over. 4th call was to Palomar Plumbing (never had heard of them at the time) and Nathan, the owner answered the phone. By this time it was almost midnight. Told him the problem and he came over within 20 minutes ready to work and he was able to fix the problem and didn't even wake up the wife and baby! Nathan White and the whole Palomar Plumbing team go way above and beyond to ensure that their customers are satisfied and that any leaks or stoppages or other issues, are fully resolved. My wife and I bought our first home, and the seller's (Fannie Mae) left us with an absolute nightmare in the form of a tangled mass of knotted roots which has caused the sewer clean out to erupt. Grey water had even spilled in our garage! (Eewwww, gross!) One call later, and it's Palomar Plumbing to the rescue. They showed up with ALL the special cutting edge equipment: a digital pipe clog detector-type thing (it's so high tech I don't even know what it's called) a camera to video before AND after, a 3/4 in diameter snake cable, and a special cutter bit attachment. They did all this on a Saturday, in a reasonable amount of time, and for a VERY competitive rate! Best of all, they were willing to come all the way from North County (Escondido and San Marcos area) down to Spring Valley without charging an arm and a leg. Can't recommend these guys enough. This guy was great @ Palomar Plumbing. I called after the Kitchen sink was backed up and stinking. I left a message on his phone and he called right back. He drove over within 20 minutes. I had good timing and he just finished a job in my area. He Snaked the sink several different ways and clog was clear. He was friendly and worked quickly. This is the third time I've used Nate and can't say enough good things about him and his team. If you want somebody that answers the phone when you call, you can depend on Nate. Most recently I had him fix a return line to my pool (toilets and hot water heater previously). The pool technician I had out didn't even know what a slip coupling was and didn't realize that it was larger on one to attach a new coupling. Plus, we wouldn't have been here till next week. Called Nate on Thursday evening and he had Fernando out the very next morning. Fernando is a real pro. He was able to use the existing elbow and remove the old slip coupling so that he could put a standard 1 inch pipe in there. Understanding my concern about using another slip coupling since they seem to break, he used 4 elbows to hook in a new pipe. After letting it dry, I followed his recommendation to put sand around the pipe versus the rocky clay we have here and presto, everything works great! read more

You only think of plumbing when something doesn't work. So I was thinking about my water heater a lot. Luckily it could not hear the things I said. I needed a shower and guests were coming. Crap. What he didn't tell me was that my service was going to be double the cost on Christmas eve, since it was a holiday. The plumber who came out even forgot it was Christmas eve at first (so it didn't really matter to him it was a holiday). But rather then pay a typical service charge I had to pay double, and I was never told this was going to be the case over the phone. We had a clogged kitchen sink issue last night and I called Palomar Plumbing this morning and received immediate service. Mr. Fernando is awesome. He is very friendly and sociable. After introductions he went straight to work and explained what the issue was and how to resolve it. Initially, I thought I had caused the issue of the clogged sink, but he reassured me it was old and about this time to be repairing/cleaning the pipes in our kitchen. Mr. Fernando also gave some helpful advice on repairing and maintaining our plumbing which will be useful for us in the future. Found Palomar Plumbing with 178 reviews (at the time of writing), all 5 stars so decided to go with them. Dustin was the plumber who came to the house and he was great. Very polite, helpful, explained exactly what was going on, and offered tips for the future. Plus my wife liked that he wore the shoe covers in the house and we didn't even have to ask him. My water heater started leaking from the top around the seam. I called Palomar after a Yelp search. Nathan explained why my heater failed which included the amount of minerals in San Marcos water and the effects of our water softener on the life of our water heater (shortens it dramatically - salt is corrosive). I called about 11:00 a.m. He was booked for the day and offered a referral to another local plumber. This was the hook that caught me. He made it clear he was concerned about my needs not his pocketbook. I decided to go with Palomar and took the appointment for 8:00 a.m the next morning because I figured it would take the other plumber until late in the evening by the time he pickup a new heater. Plus we were going to LA Fitness that evening anyway so getting a hot shower was not a problem. Palomar Plumbing employee Frenando arrived about 4 minutes before 8:00 a.m. which was the agreed upon time. He had the whole job done in 2.5 hours. He suggested and I accepted the suggestion that he install a commercial grade tube that inserts into the water heater to counteract the corrosive effect of the salt and the other minerals. This tube is called a magnesium anode and its role is sacrificial. It corrodes instead of the tank. All of pipe joints where clean and solid. In addition, he installed the two items now required by recent code changes - an expansion tank and a pipe extension at the gas line to collect possible corrosion. Frenando was friendly, explained how to relight the heater and even fixed a leak in the softener pipe free of charge (Nathan please skip over this sentence.) My total charge was $1845 including the $150 for the oversized and better anode. One year warranty on the all parts and labor and 6 year warranty on the tank were included. Fernando cleaned up after himself. He made sure the air was out of our water pipes by running the faucet and he made damn sure we had hot water before he left. I have already scheduled a second use of this company to hook up a whole house water filter. So I guess that speaks for itself so far as my recommendation regarding this company. read more
