Contacted Drain Patrol via their San Diego ph# (customer#40078). Have used Drain Patrol a few times over last 10yrs. This instance, had a progressively slow flushing toilet that began to back up. Tech, Dean arrived, on time, within hours of my call. I wanted the line snaked as it's an older property, and having lived here for 17yrs., I know the plumbing and routinely have lines snaked because of roots in pipes. Tech instead diagnosed problem being with toilet internals itself. Toilet was 10yrs old, yet I'd never heard of the ceramic internals of toilet failing.
He recommended toilet brand and model to purchase. Fast forward to new toilet being installed (by me; not Drain Patrol) Immediately obvious was the same symptom; slow flush, no swirling, and more clogging. Contacted Drain Patrol, same tech showed up, claimed all was fine; low water useage, high efficiency toilets "Just operate differently". Me: Say what?!
Called another plumbing company to snake line. Tech IMMEDIATELY diagnosed it as problem in the line; I requested camera too. Low and behold, huge root ball, 2ft. down in elbow of pipe under toilet. They cleared line. Flush is %100, no more clogging or slowing, a cyclone swirl, impressive for a low water usage toilet. Didn't need a new toilet after all. Out the cost for new toilet and service call charge. Lesson learned. read more
