We had the falafel platter, I went for the mixed grill. Everything was fresh, aromatic, and full of flavor. I even saw the staff (super friendly!) prepping kofta by hand on metal skewer. We highly recommend if you're in the area! read more

I'm visiting Toronto and wasn't sure what I wanted to eat for dinner so I headed to Yelp, read reviews, and chose Palmyra. I'm so glad I did. This is a small, family owned establishment. The family was actually sitting down to dinner at the end of the day when I arrived approximately an hour before close. It was wonderful to see them eating together. I was immediately greeted by one of the employees. He was very friendly and allowed me to take my time. I wanted to try a falafel because I love to try several menu items. He accommodated that and allowed me to order a single falafel patty to try. I was stuck between choosing the Palmyra Platter or the Mixed Shawarma plate because, as I said, I like to try several items. I ended up choosing the mixed shawarma plate and ordered it as is. The falafel was crispy and I could taste the herbs mixed in. The sauce drizzled over the top was the perfect addition. I was so glad I tried it. I was so eager to taste it that I forgot to get a photo. I chose the mixed shawarma plate thinking it would be a more manageable serving for me to finish than the Palmyra platter. I was sorely mistaken. It was easily enough food for at least 2 people. This was well worth the price point. The salad was fresh and crispy with a good variety of vegetables in it. I really enjoyed the vinaigrette they used for it as well; just tangy enough. The chicken and beef were crispy on the outside and tender inside. They had good flavor and were not dry at all. The spicy potatoes were a tad spicy for me but I still ate them. The rice was ok in my opinion. I had enough left over to eat a second time. I will definitely visit here again on a subsequent trip so I can try more of their menu items. Overall this was a good experience for me. read more

I came to this restaurant as a quick stop over waiting on a friend. What an excellent choice. This family run restaurant had a great simple menu with excellent food made with love. The choices were enough and I ended up getting a chicken Shawarma. Both the husband and wife greeted us along with the other helpers and the food was excellent. I left very happy. Please support this family business. I forgot to take a pic of the food so heres a pic of two happy customers. read more

I frequent Palmyra once a quarter. Over the last year, 3 of the visits were 5/5 with the last visit 3/5. I'll share the experience below. I found Palmyra last year. Ordered falafel plate. Substituted the fattoush salad for roasted potatoes. Asked for tahini, garlic sauce, and hot sauce. Everything was delicious as per the picture. No surcharge on any of the special requests. Similarly, the next two visits maintained my expectations. However, the last visit was slightly disappointing for multiple factors. I do believe I came in for a late lunch, by late lunch, I mean 1:45. Asked for my regular falafel plate substituting the fattoush salad for roasted potatoes with the tahini, garlic sauce, and hot sauce. Roasted potatoes, falafel, and rice were so dry and cold from sitting out for so long. Only the hummus was edible. Already disappointed, went to pay my cheque, surcharge on potatoes, garlic sauce, and hot. Since when? If there's a surcharge, please advise prior to the surprise charge at the end of a disappointing meal. Maybe it was a one off. I haven't been back since this incident but I didn't want to based the review on one, potentially, isolated experience. read more

Palmyra Mediterranean House - Falafel plate. Normally comes with fattoush salad. But switched for roasted potatoes. Hit or miss with surcharge. - Middle Eastern Near Me - Etobicoke, Ontario

Great lamb shank plate. It comes on an overflowing plate with rice, potatoes, salad and lamb shank (Big portion, tender tasty lamb with slightly spicy sauce). Overall very good and reasonably priced. The beef shawarma wrap was very average, nothing special. Staff are very nice and service is great. No patio, the patio out front belongs to the restaurant next door. I'd come here again for the lamb. read more

4.5 rating I've had this place bookmarked for ages, and last week when it was later at night and my wife and I wanted a quick Mediterrranean place go to, I knew that it was a perfect chance to finally try Palmyra. It's a nice spot that's fairly informal, but also more nicely decorated than most other Mediterranean spots with a similar price-range. As you might expect, wraps are just below the $10 range, and platters range from about $12-17. Since it was after 9pm, I ensured that I ordered meat that would be cooked to order. I ordered the Palmyra platter, with the signature dish naturally being the largest. It includes 4 types of meat: shish taouk (chicken breast), beef Kafta, and beef and chicken shawarma - the former two being cooked to order, and the latter being kept warm in the steamed serving tray. Though the taouk and the kafta were my favorites, the shawarma still held up very well by being served at a good temperature and wasn't dried out. Equally as important, the flavour of the meat was wonderful. The sides included: rice, salad, seasoned potatoes and pita. As a whole, everything was very enjoyable, but the salad was a bit over-dressed, and the potatoes were a bit cold. It doesn't surprise me given the time of night I was visiting, but it was the experience regardless. I was with my wife and we also ordered the falafel platter. It was served with a massive portion of hummus - bathed in quality EVOO which I love, along with an equally large portion of salad. The falafel's were made to order and were right up there with some of the best I've had in the city. Aside from the olive oil it was served with, the hummus was great too and a perfect texture. This was also served with pita, and when were were being served our food and presented with the pita, the server let us know that the cook was going to bring out another kind of bread as well. It turned out to be freshly made lavash. 4.5 stars as mentioned above, but will round up to 5 due some leeway for the potatoes given the time of night and for the bonus of the lavash (and I did not flash any Yelp creditials or even take pics of anything before it was offered). Probably the best Mediterranean/Lebanese place I've been to in the West side in this price range. read more

We ordered a few things for dine in including hummus, baba ganoush, lentil soup, chicken shawarma plate and wrap, shish tawook, and beef shawarma. The portions are really small (almost like a kid's meal). They don't refill the water and even forgot our beef shawarma. We had a few leftovers and we got charged $.50 "Open food" container for the leftover. I felt as if this was an AYCE restaurant that charges for leftovers, except this place just outright charges for containers. As we were heading out, the cashier said "I didn't charge you for the beef shawarma" and acted as if it was our fault that she "forgot." For how much they charge, food wasn't worth it and the to go containers charged as much as an extra appetizer is unappealing. If you're looking for a Mediterranean place, try elsewhere and maybe you'll find better service and portions for the price. read more

This review is my 400th! Crazy, huh? It is fitting that this restaurant serves outstanding food to mark my milestone. =) Our team goes out for lunch on Fridays. Last Friday, we visited this fine restaurant. It is located in a crazy, high-traffic strip mall that includes a drive-thru Tim Horton's. There are also a bunch of nervous drivers trying to pass their driving tests. Palmyra has a decent number of seats when we got there at noon. We occupied a table for four. A server came over, made food suggestions, and took our orders. We sat at table 9. My manager and two co-op students ordered water. They thought that they'd be getting free water in glasses. Nope, they got bottled water that went for $1.50 each. The moral of the story is that if you want free Etobicoke water, indicate that you want water in a glass. As for me, I didn't have that issue. I ordered a Diet Coke, which came in a can. I ordered the kafka dinner. It came with rice, salad, two skewers of kafka (beef), and roasted lemon potatoes. I normally don't care much for potatoes these days. However, they were delicious! I ate them all up. Frankly, if I could lick my plate clean, I would have. I just needed to look like I was a civilized person. My colleagues ordered the beef shawarma wrap, chicken on the rocks, and chicken and beef shawarma dinner. They all loved their food. The food was tasty and authentic. I felt like I was in Istanbul again. Yummy. I can see what folks like this place more than Paramount. I would have to agree. I can't wait to come back here. Good Mediterranean restaurants in GTA. 3.5 stars. The restaurant was empty when we arrived, the girl took my husbands and my order and somehow messed up both of our orders. It happens a lot when the waiter/waitress doesn't write down the details of the order or forget to pass them to the kitchen. I have worked at the restaurant (both fine dining and bistro) and I know how crucial it is to get the customers order right, then pass it to the kitchen, then check it when it arrives from the kitchen. This time I specifically asked the girl hummus without the oil on top, and my husband asked for tabbouleh instead of the rice (he doesn't like rice), and the girl confirmed it's possible. When the food arrived I had a huge puddle of oil in my hummus and my husband had a pile of rice on his plate. The girl apologized about the olive oil (and brought additional hummus on the side for me), but about the rice she just said "I thought you wanted no salad!" She didn't offer salad on the side, she just left the restaurant. The falafels were good but a bit too oily for my taste, the hummus had a strange taste (3/5) and their tabbouleh salad was extremely sour, way too much lemon!! (3/5). On the other hand, their baklava was divine! (5/5). I also tried my husbands rice and I liked it. read more

3.5 stars... its so hard to rate this place because the favours were great on some items but overall, it seemed so disorganized and some items were not well executed. I was dying for a good meal especially after a long day of travel and I've had Palmyra on my radar for a while. Seeing how it was near the airport, I was thinking it would be the perfect spot especially seeing how they've had some amazing reviews. It pains me to give less than 4 stars because it's clearly a family run place but comparing it to another family run spot (Pho Ngoc Yen), it's a very different experience. The restaurant is more fast casual which would be ok if it was clean... there were entire tables with old food and dirty dishes just littering the entire area. The floor underneath the 'cleaner' tables had old food. It just seemed.... disorganized. The ordering was haphazard and I think they were busy with the 2 tables already sitting and waiting for food. Also, the older lady didnt pack the food but said it was done so the other staff (family members) were confused on where everything was. Prices are fair and very reasonable for the amount of food but the execution of the food is where I sighed a bit. If only there was a bit more care... it would have easily a 4 star. Falafel dinner (with fries, pickles, hummus, tabbouleh) - I'll start with the good... flavour. It's all there and you can tell it's done by them. The herbs and spices in the falafel were great. Unfortunately it was cold and hard... like over fried and then placed on a plate for hours. The tabbouleh salad had a great citrus kick and was very good. The pickles were a nice compliment but the fries... pale, limp, and underseasoned. It was just sad. If they just cooked the falafel fresh and redo the fries to their crispy happy state, easily one of better falafel dishes but ... it wasn't. 3.5/5 I wish I could give it higher as it seems like great flavours but just lacking on execution. read more

I care here for a leisurely lunch on my way to the airport. The restaurant is tucked into a strip mall, and it actually has two separate parts: a manakish & juice bar on the left and the full restaurant on the right - so make sure you enter the one on the right (unless you actually just wanted manakish and juice). The restaurant is more "fast casual" and has the option to either order at the counter or sit down at tables with a menu. If you order at the counter, you can also get your food to go. But I wasn't in a rush, so I chose the table option. The restaurant was relaxed and not very busy - though maybe it picks up more in the evening. The restaurant owner was friendly and gave some helpful recommendations. I ended up getting the lamb shank plate, which was well prepared and came with a generous portion. I also had a wonderful baklava for dessert. Everything was attractively plated, too. It was a nice experience overall, and for a reasonable price. Check it out if you're in the mood for some nice Mediterranean food. read more

It is as if you are eating in the best restaurants in Lebanon. One of the best restaurants in Toronto. Fresh, healthy food, great flavor, fast and distinctive service, and Lebanese hospitality If you eat there, you will not like any other restaurant. The price is acceptable and the meal is enough for more than one person. What you pay for the quantity of food in this restaurant is less than other restaurants, and moreover, the quality and taste of the food is much better. I was craving shawarma one day while in Missisauga and found Palmyra on SkipTheDishes. I ordered a beef shawarma dinner, and it was delicious! Food is always consistant and tastes great but the service, atmosphere, and portion sizes is where this restaurant lacks. The lady who served me seems to consistently have no energy, and made it seem like she wanted me gone. The atmosphere of the restaurant was dark, and quiet with paint peeling in some areas. The chicken is again, amazing but the amount that was given for the price is a bit crazy. I only received about half the size of my fist in chicken for the price of about $21. read more

Small restaurant and pretty busy. The service was slow because 1 person was cooking for the entire restaurant. They had a lot of skip the dishes people waiting for their orders. The waitress was a little rude in the beginning trying to tell me I need to have garlic sauce when I hate garlic sauce! The portions are tiny! Food was great but for the price it's not worth it. I am usually a bit skimpy when it comes to stars but after our lunch today I couldn't find a reason not to give 5 stars as everything was perfect It started by how warmly we were welcomed and shown to our seats. Marian then carefully went over the menu with us and answered any questions. In the end we ordered a mixed plate and hummos which is a must with any middle eastern meal... Lets start with the Hummos which was exceptional in taste and texture and presented in a beautiful earthenware dish it was decorated with a few chick peas and featured a pool of extremely good quality olive oil with a sprinkle of sumac here and there.... This is a simple dish but magic when its done right and this was perfect! On to the mixed plate.chicken kebab incredibly tender and beautifully spiced chicken shawarma which was tender yet had the odd crispy bit just as real shawarma should and beef kofta which was spiced nicely and cooked to perfection...the taboule was made fresh using great care and pita bread served warm and fresh. Now for the kicker.... This place is so clean you could literally eat off the floor and come to no harm.... So if you like your run of the mill middle eastern food served to you standing in line by a guy with 3 days growth of beard wearing a T shirt he hasn't changed in a week then this place isn't for you however if you want to experience superior middle eastern fare served to you in a sparkling clean environment by beautiful Arabic women whose modesty can't hide their warmth and kindness then you truly need look no further...We came as strangers and left as friends... you will too!.... Maybe well see you there next time when we go for dinner as I cant wait to try the lamb shanks!..... Crisco read more

On a quick lunch break from my office I decided to order the chicken shawarma combo, but got a salad instead of the fries. The chicken shawarma itself was flavourful, I would have added a little more sauce though. The ingredients were fresh and the service was quick, they even served the food right to your table! The salad was very plain, I regret not having the fries as they were tasty (took some from a colleague). Overall, worth coming here again for the shawarma! read more

Even though they serve the same type of food, Palmyra is everything that Paramount is not. Palmyra isn't very high traffic (at least not on a weekday evening), your food is brought to you, but it is in a more casual atmosphere, friendly, family-run staff, and the food is FRESH. Basically, it's a pared-down Paramount. (Paramount tries to up their game by having their restaurants all-fancy 'n stuff, but if you think about it, it really isn't necessary. Besides, I think with their expansion, both food & customer service has fallen to the wayside.) Anyway, place was fairly dead when I visited on a Thursday evening for dinner. This area is just very industrial and I'm guessing the neighbouring businesses are meant more for the lunch crowd. I was given a paper takeout menu to help me with my decision making, but I basically took fellow Yelper, Lambert's suggestion and got the Palmyra Plate ($16.99). It's a total no-brainer as it has an array of meats: pieces of Grilled Chicken kabob, kofta, both chicken/beef shawarma all on a bed of rice with seasoned roasted potatoes & a side salad. I shared that with a friend and I made the mistake of ordering a Fattoush salad (~$6) before that. All in all, we had leftovers! I enjoyed everything that I ate, especially the potatoes - great seasoning & they're spicy! Grilled Chicken kabobs were also really good and tender. No complaints, spicy sauce served on the side was very nice. Prices, especially for the meats are slightly on the high-side, especially considering its casual atmosphere, so there's a tip jar on the side. When you're done, you go up and pay at the cash. If you're in this area, definitely check out this place for something relatively fast, but not fast food! Too bad that it's in a low-traffic area, otherwise I'm sure that they'd be busier. read more

This is an update to upgrade my rating from 4 to 5*. I don't do this very often but I am compelled to do so because it's safe to say this is my new favorite place to eat near home, period. While I will always have my favorite shawarma place by work (Zesty Pita - 2 locations), Palmyra is now a no brainer new favorite by home not just for Mediterranean food but for FOOD, period. Yes, Palmyra has unseated Zet's as my favorite large portion, reasonably priced, close to home restaurant. If you know me that's a pretty big title to take away because Zet's is like my jam but now Zet's will just become my late night 24 hour jam. While I have not had all of the menu yet at Palmyra, I've had enough of it to know that their food and the care they put into it is special. ALL their food is fresh. Their servings are beyond generous and their pricing is more than reasonable. The quality of their food and the way it's presented is top notch. IMO for what Palmyra offers and for what they charge they put places like Paramount to shame. Palmyra to me is the epitome of great food at a great value so I feel lucky they are so close to where I live. The fact that my wife also loves this cuisine and loves this place as well it's safe to say we will frequent Palmyra pretty much forever. I think if I say anymore I'll just sound like I'm gushing. I can't say enough good things about this place without sounding like I'm obsessed with it. It feels like this place is an amazingly well kept secret but I want to share it with everybody. read more

I have been meaning to drop in here for a while (we have been to both the Japanese Steakhouse and Fiamma many times) - it's a casual table service/take out place that was busy on Wednesday at lunch, but very organized and service was quick and polite. We both had the chicken kebab dinner which comes with rice, a fresh green salad and roasted potatoes. A huge plate that could be easily shared by two if you're not ravenous. Decided to try this place out as a couple people have talked about it. Quite honestly, wasn't really impressed at all. The food itself wasn't bad, but didn't taste amazing or anything.
