NATIONALS PARK in Washington, D.C.! We were able to catch the LA Dodgers during cherry blossom…read moreseason! There were trees inside, which were in full bloom, and I even found a cherry blossom chair! We secured tickets on Easter Sunday, which turned out to be a rainy day, so game time was delayed a couple of hours. Ohtani hit a home run! Final score: 8-6 Dodgers. There were A LOT of Dodgers fans! Uncomplicated stadium. Simple to navigate. Friendly staff. Nats fans were fun. Overall, it was an stress-free visit and I felt safe...even while wearing a LA hat! :-) Easy walk from the Metro Station. We just ordered the basics: hot dog, nachos, and draft beer. Prices were reasonable and the food tasted pretty fresh. I was surprised because we had to grab it from the heat rack. I saw Marine One from our 300's Section, but it was probably in training and/or a decoy. Just across the street is the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge, which you can also see from one of the stadium gates. But, I decided to walk over to take a closer look!

Nationals Park is not just a great MLB ballpark experience, but a great professional sports stadium…read moreexperience. Located along the Anacostia River in Navy Yard, it is one of the more functional and accessible MLB stadiums with ramps and elevators. Nationals Park is the first major professional stadiums in the country to earn LEED Silver Certified status by the U.S. Green Building Council, having incorporated sustainable design elements. The stadium is beautiful, however, doesn't have the historic charm that some of the other stadiums in the league have. There is obviously plenty seating and even better, open standing room to watch the game. You'll find customer-friendly stands serving traditional ballpark food, unattended and cashless grab and pay vendors, bars, and restaurants. Surrounding the ballpark is a plethora of sports bars, restaurants, and pre-game social venues. The team's merchandise store is adequate and staff, friendly. During the spring, you can find cherry trees in peak bloom in many of the standing room areas around the park, adding a beautiful backdrop and scenery to spring games. The park is highly accessible by many roads, connecting all quadrants of the city, Northern Virginia, and Prince George's County, MD. However, parking is limited and on game day and special events, the price to park taxes the wallet. I recommend using Metro which gets you close to the ballpark, including nearby Navy Yard - Ballpark Station which gets you the closest and within steps from the one of the entrances to the ballpark on Half Street. This Metro stop gets crowded because of its proximity to the ballpark. If you have time for a walk, consider exiting the station at New Jersey Avenue or to skip the madness entirely, consider riding to Southwest Waterfront Metro and walking over, crossing South Capitol Street.

Such a fun new park find for a mom with kids who need to burn energy…read more There is a baseball field listed here, but I couldn't pull up Capital One Park East, so I'm guessing most people will end up using this listing instead. Same area just separated by a lot. Major mom win: there are bathrooms It's right across from Wegmans, has shaded tables (yes please), a water fountain, and easy parking in the garage across the street (first 2 hours are free ) Bonus surprise: on top of the parking garage there's another small play area--with water! My kids were living their best life up there. Everything is super colorful, clean, and just overall a really good time. I also noticed someone walking around every few minutes wiping down tables and checking trash, which I appreciate so much as a parent. Oooh and theres a mini workout area . Only tiny side-eye moment : I did see the same towel used on tables and then on the trash can... and not tossed after. So I'm hoping it's not making a full tour of tables, trash, and bathrooms Other than that, we had a great time and will definitely be back!

This is a nice, compact park with both a fitness area as well as two separate playground areas…read more Bonus: bathrooms on site! The area that features a lot of climbing, has some larger footholds and is probably best for the 5+ set unless your kiddo is younger but taller. My relatively small newly 4-year-old was not independently able to navigate this area. My 7 year old had no problem. The little spinner is fun too. No swings here but lots of other areas to stay busy.

We have made it a yearly thing where we see at least one NBA G League game, but this year there…read morewere changes that made things more confusing. I really wish they had more concessions at this arena, so typically we have dinner before or after pending the game time. If you get the tickets with beer/wine and snacks I highly recommend to only sit in the lounge. The floor seats aren't worth it at all. You can be on the opposite side of the lounge and be forced to walk up the stairs around the arena back down the stairs grab your snacks only to have to do that all over again to get back to your seats. The ushers also give conflicting information and be told to walk one way and then be forced to walk another by another person. It makes it very confusing and frustrating for a guest that is just following what they were told.

I can't believe this was my first time to a game since the Mystics were moved from Capital Sports…read moreArena. But let's talk about the route to the arena. What the What?! Who thought this through? You'll definitely have to get there early due to that 2-lane, tight squeeze through the neighborhood. I'm sure the people who actually live there hate game-day as it makes it harder for them to get home. That's crazy. BUT, after the game, on my way home, I turned right (instead of left to follow everybody else and return the way I came) and found an easier route. It was actually a route I know as my friends live by the big chair and I could easily hop onto 295 to get home. But I digress. The Arena itself is pretty nice. It looks like the area is being renovated a bit. I'm not sure exactly where in DC it is, but there are several old buildings in the area that had to be in use at some point in time. It didn't take too long to get in and our seats were right up front. The atmosphere for Pride night was festive. I was easily able to grab some food & drink and head to my seat with no problem. It is a smaller venue, but it felt cozy. I had a good time. After the game you can go across the street to an area which holds a few eateries and there's one big indoor area with a bar. If you park in the garage, be prepared to wait about 20 minutes before there's any movement so you can get out. I was nervous I'd be sitting there LONGER, but once we started moving, we got out quickly. If you get there EARLY you can probably park on the street which will facilitate your exit.
