Wow the town of Vienna deserves credit. Thank you for an exceptional redevelopment. For years…read moreWaters Field, was a rough looking place for youth baseball and football games. That's been changed considerably. I'd say a complete 180. Was thrilled with my son tonight, to see where he got his first sacks as a football player. Personally I think he's nuts, but am proud of this student athlete. He said it himself, "this is at the same place, but major boost." That seems appropriate. The only challenge I can see is parking, but it's not like finding a spot in a large city. There's a community center and streets close by. The field is well marked now. All appears new and they did this field justice. Getting young men and women into sports is important. This facility will be instrumental in development. Families and their children will benefit!

Waters field is primarily used by the Greater Vienna Babe Ruth (GVBR) League. It's a great spot to catch a baseball game. Restrooms are a short walk away in the Vienna Community Center. Parking is available on the street, but it may be easier to use the spots in the Vienna Elementary School lot on weekends if multiple games are occurring simultaneously. The only downside is that foul balls can wander into the street corner behind home plate, so be sure to keep an eye out for stray baseballs during games.

Such a fun new park find for a mom with kids who need to burn energy…read more There is a baseball field listed here, but I couldn't pull up Capital One Park East, so I'm guessing most people will end up using this listing instead. Same area just separated by a lot. Major mom win: there are bathrooms It's right across from Wegmans, has shaded tables (yes please), a water fountain, and easy parking in the garage across the street (first 2 hours are free ) Bonus surprise: on top of the parking garage there's another small play area--with water! My kids were living their best life up there. Everything is super colorful, clean, and just overall a really good time. I also noticed someone walking around every few minutes wiping down tables and checking trash, which I appreciate so much as a parent. Oooh and theres a mini workout area . Only tiny side-eye moment : I did see the same towel used on tables and then on the trash can... and not tossed after. So I'm hoping it's not making a full tour of tables, trash, and bathrooms Other than that, we had a great time and will definitely be back!

The area that features a lot of climbing, has some larger footholds and is probably best for the 5+ set unless your kiddo is younger but taller. My relatively small newly 4-year-old was not independently able to navigate this area. My 7 year old had no problem. The little spinner is fun too. No swings here but lots of other areas to stay busy.

Along the Potomac River northwest of Georgetown is a close-knit community called The Palisades…read more This is its recreation center. There's a small parking lot in the front and trails that lead to an actual recreation center, fields and a playground that doubles as a splash park in the summer. My four-year-old daughter loved the playground. It's modeled after an Indigenous American village along the Potomac River with slides, etc. For being in a wealthy neighborhood, it's a little run down, but still a lot of fun. If you like quirky art, take the small dirt path to the right when facing the parking lot. Walk a few yards to a small opening in the forest to find the "Glass Forest" with art hanging on the trees. It's a little creepy, but also quirky!

Hmmm...I suppose I was assuming this playground would be more than it was given the area…read more The good: *a couple slides, things to climb on *dedicated parking lot *fitness equipment *skate park (definitely check this out) The issues: *the equipment is old and run down: pieces of the padded floor are all over the place and kids throw them *back to those kids and why we won't be back....where are the parents, nannies, guardians, SOME adult?! There were lots around but no one was telling their kid to not throw pieces of the ground at people. My son was excited about the slide....until he was trampled while going down it by 4 kids (at least 8 years old so they should know better anyways) running up the slide. This hasn't ever been an issue before since caretakers are usually at least sort of watching their kids but nope not here. Overall the equipment was boring and the playground way beyond capacity, particularly during these times. Not a fan, won't be back.

A spur of the moment trip to see the Nationals in DC was an easy audible with close proximity to the Metro and a knowledgeable, hardworking staff to smooth all the edges. One note. If you look for tickets on-line, the Nats will force you to create an account with MLB.com -- a task which is somewhat involved since I have no interest in buying the team and only want two tix. As the Nats run a cash-free organization, the easiest thing to do is go to their ticket office directly outside the center field gate and they'll text you two tix without the MLB nonsense. Being an avid ticket stub collector, I should deduct a star but what the hell, the evening was a blast. A beautiful ballpark and a great time. Five easy stars.

I am an O's fan so this rivalry means something to me. I also really enjoyed the Nats giveaway that day. A hot dog hat. Normally I am underwhelmed by the Nats giveaways even as a baseball fan but this was the only one I really felt excited about. I sat in Club Level and I was a little shocked that no one in staff at the park was checking peoples tickets. They were letting anyone go up to club level which was an issue for several reasons. Problem #1: It was hot dog day and the food was $5 so the lines were absurdly long and there were people from the lower and upper levels going to CLUB LEVEL to get concessions. At Camden Yards the staff actually checks your tickets to seeing you're supposed to be at Club Level. That's what makes club level great the lines are smaller but the cost is that you don't get the specialty food options like on the lower level. The only person checking tickets at club level were the guys at the door if you were supposed to be in like Sections 206-210 Problem 2: Because no one was checking club level when entering there was issues with people sitting in my seat. Where was the usher in my section??? Idk he wasn't there and some jerk took my seat saying since I was wearing an O's jersey I didn't deserve that seat. I paid good money to sit in club level and not being able to sit in my seat was ridiculous. Additionally I was harassed by several Nats fans during my time at the park. To a point one of them stole my free giveaway hat because "you're not even a fan". I paid for the ticket and I waited ALMOST AN HOUR at the gate being one of the first people to enter the ballpark and to get my hat just taken from me was a slap in the face. I already filled out the survey with Nationals Park and requested that a staffer call me and I hope they do because of all the times I've been to Nats Park in my life I've never felt as disrespected as I did on my most recent visit.
