Stopped by and ordered a spicy Thai basil fried rice with chicken and a mango sticky rice! I got spicy level 2 which is enough spice to enjoy it but didn't have the building spiciness with each bite. I think next time I'll increase the spice, but the Thai basil was very tasty! The basil flavor is very strong. The fried rice was also not dry, but not oil, and I quite enjoyed it. They give you a very big serving. The mango sticky rice is also super tasty!! I saw someone after me order a Thai boba tea and it also looked good. I think I'll get it next time. In terms of service, the staff was very nice and fast. The place is also very quaint and clean. I would definitely eat indoors next time I visit. It's my first time eating here and I was very pleased with the service and the food. I'd say the Drunken Noodles was the best out of all the food my family and I ordered. I also really enjoyed the yellow curry and I want to try their other curry next time I come. TL;DR: Sadly, I can no longer recommend this restaurant after meeting the owner, Tanny. She is an unethical liar who cannot admit when she is wrong. The ambiance is also uncomfortable, since (on a previous visit earlier this year) one of the staff previously treated dine-in service like it was a serve- and bus-yourself and retrieve-your-own-water situation, and Tanny created a hostile environment this evening. The regular cashier is okay. I attempted to place a phone order before heading to the restaurant, even waited on the line for several rings, but no one answered my call. I ended up driving there to place the order in person. I had resolved myself to wait for a while, sitting near the entrance, but when I saw every single other person who stepped inside after me receive their order time after time, without any update from the staff, I began to feel concerned. After almost 30 minutes, the restaurant had cleared except for me, so I asked about the status of my order. I was told that it would be another 10 minutes, so I requested a refund, since they still had not started cooking one of the dishes I ordered (I only ordered two noodle dishes and one salad). The employee and the owner did not know how to process a refund, and the owner repeatedly tried to force me to take the food that not only was *not yet ready* but that I no longer wanted. I told them that I had tried to place my order by phone earlier but no one answered. I left my contact information so that Tanny could inform me when the transaction was "voided." As I was walking to the Chinese restaurant next door, Tanny chased after me to incorrectly accuse me of not calling the restaurant earlier. I had proof on my phone records that I did, but she insisted that I had never called and that I shouldn't argue with her. She also called me "crazy." I continued onward to the Chinese restaurant. Later, when Tanny called my phone to return for the refund, she lied and claimed that she never said I hadn't called, and that I'm the only one who has ever asked for a refund from them (I hardly believe that is true). She also made excuses about training staff in the kitchen. I already told her that I can understand if they're busy but that I was being served last, and I didn't appreciate being lied to. She refused to listen or admit that she was incorrect. I explained the situation to the cashier, who understood what I was saying. Tanny rudely continued to insult me and lie about her unethical, amoral behavior. It's a shame--I've brought friends here and ordered tons here in the past, but I'll never support an unethical business owner like Tanny again. Go to Golden House Chinese restaurant a couple stores down (for faster, better service), or any of the better Thai restaurants throughout San Diego. There's a great one off of University Ave and some off of Broadway in Chula Vista. read more

The crab fried rice has REAL crab, the Panang Curry was flavorful, the Basil Eggplant was cooked perfectly, and the mango sticky rice is the best I've ever had. Amazing Food. Best Thai I have had. Spicy Fried Rice with Beef was cooked perfectly. Huge pieces of Bell Peppers that were crisp not soggy. Went with 3 on spicy scale(1-5).... This is my second time coming in with my family. Again, we loved how clean and spaced out the place was. The food was delicious as last time! This time the crab fried rice was not so salty. I appreciate how there is actual crab in the food and makes the flavors more vibrant. We ordered drunken noodles, chicken pad Thai, crab wonton, yellow curry. I tried some new things such as the crab wonton and it's about 5 pieces. In terms of service, I noticed that our server did so much for the restaurant. She took phone call orders, managed take out service, and served tables all at the same time. She mentioned that her restaurant is still new but she did so well multitasking. She was very humble. She did her best to take care of us and was so sweet about not wanting to accept my tip even though she basically managed the place entirely. She mentioned how her staff deserved all the money and I was insistent that she take it too! She may not have been able to take care of us the whole time, but she was always generous about giving us utensils and even listened and conversed with us when she had a million things to do. I hope this business stays for a long time (forever hopefully) knowing that there are good people like her managing this place. Alas!!!! Flavorful Thai Cuisine in the neighborhood. I'm excited! The Tom Yum soup and Thai Fried rice are personal favorites, and the Crab fried rice, a long-standing special, is truly exceptional.
