Front desk team is extremely rude and pushy. Kytia has the worst halitosis ever and is condescending when she insistently over explains policies to you, hard sells products, or lackadaisically shows you how to use a machine. She stabs at you with her tiny leathery man hands while pushing buttons on the machines and pointing out the instructions for use. I felt sorry for the new girl she was training have to stand so close to her all day. I went in for a promo $10 tan and was told I wouldn't be able to do the max time since I hadn't been in since December. I only wanted to do 7 anyways so fine. Then she said it had new bulbs so I could only do 5. I paid for the Prism bed and it is not the one I believe I was put in. I was put in room #3 and the bed only stayed on for about 3 minutes. Kytia said only a manger could refund me but shew asn't in today so I'm out of luck. I have been a member of PBT for 20+ years. Never had a problem, and I feel conflicted leaving one star because it's been a solid 5 over the years. However, Kennedy at the Hazel Dell location has been repeatedly rude. Last time I came in, she asked, "is there a reason you're coming in 5 minutes before closing?" I apologized and said I hadn't realized the hours had changed, she rudely replied, "we've been on holiday hours for a while now." Even tho I felt bad, at the end of the day I was there BEFORE closing. Then last wknd, she told me I was required to download the app because my ID doesn't scan (it's out of state) I've coming forever, and often use my passport as ID is required if you don't have the app, in which I have my ID. PBT doesn't pay my phone bill and I don't have to download anything on my personal device just to make her job easier. I bring in the required documents and that should suffice. After telling me 5x that I need to download the app, she treated me like I was stupid and asked if I needed her help to do it! (So rude) and then told me as I was leaving that she will not check me in next time. So just like that, a loyal customer of 20 years can no longer go back. Apparently, PBT is known for continuing to charge customers even after they have attempted to cancel their membership. My wife called to cancel and had no problems, I called and the person admitted they were new and the only one working but stated they atempted to cancel my membership. I was charged again the next month and they refuse to refund my money. I haven't even been in for over a month, but they still charged me. I'm sure I will need to cancel the card to make it stop. I had an email string going with corporate but they refuse to help and stopped answering me when I ask about a refund. If you give them your card info, it will probably happen to you as well. I have been trying for 2 days to get someone on the phone to discuss the sudden charge July 1st with no notice during a pandemic, after 4 months of nothing. Their is no customer care from this franchised property. They are stonewalling me. They care more about the 1 month dues they took, than to have the heart to hear a future customer who is out of work due to COVID. The corporate headquarters for Palm Beach tried to send them a message, were very kind and apologized that it was Franchise. The store can only tell me to contact customer care online. Update- they will do nothing for me. The customer care rep said her directive is "no refunds". "The contract states to cancel by the 25th." When I called back in March I was told not to worry. This Palm Beach Franchise cares more about the 1 month dues than future customer for any reason. Out of work due to COVID and a surprise useless Tan charge with no notice. read more

Attempted to temporarily freeze our account and they still charged us. Called and got an attitude from the so-called Manager that sounded like a spoiled rotten brat reading from a script. Very unfortunate that owners of companies these days are stuck hanging a manager pin on anybody that will show up. She was a know it all and must have had alot of experience in covering her .... We cancelled and won't be back. Now they loose the money we would have paid to keep our account frozen and they loose the customers. Disappointed with my experience here. The staff were very pushy with sales and I was pressured into a contract, and wasn't told the final pricing with tax and included fees. They acted extremely bitchy when I asked to cancel my contract. They also require 24 hours between each tan, which is extremely inconvenient with my schedule. I much would have taken my money to a small business and paid more for a better experience. I absolutely do not recommend, especially this location. They are just not friendly. read more

I like tanning, but I dread walking in the door because I know I have to say "No" about five times if the sales rep wants to sell me something--and that's about every-other visit. The products are very expensive--some more than $100 per bottle. If they haven't sold me something in a while, they say that the (expensive) lotion I bought is now expired and it won't work at all. (It does.) When I turn that down, they try to sell me after-care products. After you sign up, be prepared to stand line for 15 minutes sometimes while the sales rep makes a sale--and all you want to do is check in and tan for five minutes. It's a nice place, but the young women working there are probably paid so poorly that they have to sell, sell, sell to earn commission. It's really too bad. read more

I finally had to file a complaint with the BBB, and they had the nerve to tell the BBB that I never called them, or emailed them to cancel. My wedding was coming up in 3 days so I was super nervous how my tan would turn out because I never spray tanned before. The employees were super helpful and friendly and I was very satisfied with the results but it was a bit streaky between my fingers which I came in again the next day to get it fixed. They have in their lobby a big poster "30 day money back guarantee if not satisied". But they have in tiny letters in their plan contract that they deduct the cost of any used tans from that refund. My daughter went twice for the spray tan. She looked great the day after, but then the next day she looked like she rolled in dirt, she was all blotchy and streaked. So she called for the refund and was told she didn't qualify. So I called and the manager told me they deduct the full price of the spray tans, which is more then the plan. So in other words, you only get the refund if you don't use their services. How are you supposed to know if you are satisfied if you can't use the services without voiding the guarantee? It's a scam to promise a refund if not satisfied, then put a loophole in the contract so you don't have to honor that promise. read more

I had a package here a couple years ago so their policies may have changed by now. Regardless, I had a tanning package here and the only way I was allowed to get one was to have an automatic deduction and little did I know I would have to give 30 days notice in order to cancel (even though there is no contract). I have since tanned at much cheaper places with no contract just down the street. Palm beach is pretty and everything is new and it is clean, but their customer service and policies ruin that for me. read more

Looks like others have had some issues here too. CUSTOMER COMES LAST SNOBBY ATTITUDE! "Sorry" was all I got or "we're training people", etc. They advertise "Money back guarantee" if not happy with tans but this is false. I called and talked to the district manager and he refunded me 3 months of money ($24) that was taken out of my account to put my account on hold yet I thought I had completely canceled. I told him I hated the spray tans and he did not refund that money. When I realized they were taking $8 a month to put my account on hold I went in to tell them I thought I had canceled and I was a day late for the following month fee so they took it out the next month too. Also I spent extra money to buy little upgrades that supposedly made the product better but it didn't at all. Never got that money back. Also FYI if the mystic tan is broke that day and people have to tan in the other crappier spray tan booth, offer them a free upgrade product to enance their experience in the other one. i recently came in and have never experienced customer service as awful as it was at palm beach. the salon was dirty and my bed had streak marks in it. i came in another time to spray tan in hopes my experience would be better but no one walked me through the steps and it was my first time. i had to scrub off my spray tan due to splotchiness the employees were unhelpful and quite frankly rude. i felt very unwelcome. i will definitely not be returning in the future. read more

I went in just to see what they were about, and I never write reviews but, this place was SO disappointing. My whole tour of the place was a flat 30 seconds. Didn't provide ANY information about anything. Such a waste of my time. And the facility was so dark and felt very unwelcoming. So I went down the street to Suns Up tanning, and I haven't looked back since. The facility is so light and open, they also offer wellness services as well which is so awesome. And most importantly in my book, the employees actually took the time to show me around and answered any question I had! This is the first time I've ever written a review, and unfortunately it's not a positive one. I signed up for a package and it seems what I signed up for and what I ended up having are very different. Unfortunately, the person that signed me up, is no longer there and the person that I tried to question truly had no interest in assisting. Of the two high level beds, only one works...consistently. The people that work there are completely disengaged and could care less that you walked in. It's too bad because the location is perfect for me, and the parking is easy. But, it seems as though they could care less about reoccurring business. I will pay more and drive further to enter an establishment that makes me feel welcome and has working beds, with employees that are happy to have a job, not more interested in their friends, and boyfriends, and phones (which is the case multiple times I've been in). I have given this place a year, thinking that it might be a bad day, or one bad employee..but I've been proven wrong every time I walk int. I bought spray tans here and was not told that they had an expiration date! I went in after they had "expired" and their attempt at customer service was to do nothing. They took down my phone number because "only a regional manager" could address my issue. The regional manager never bothered to call EVER. There are LOTS of tanning companies out there with basically the same services to offer. The difference then is price, and customer service. Here, there is NO customer service. The only good thing I have to say about this place is that it is clean. I wanted to tan for the summer before my sister's wedding and when I moved back to Seattle for school in September I called to cancel my account and I was told that it was canceled. Then in October I noticed a charge from them on my account again, I called to see why they had done that and I was told that since I couldn't prove that I had canceled the account (couldn't remember the name of the person who helped me before) that they wouldn't refund the money but that they would cancel it right away. THEN I noticed another charge from Pacific Beach Tan in December and called again to see what was going on. The girl I talked to (Erin the manager) said that everyone who works there knows that they are NEVER allowed to cancel accounts over the phone, but that she would cancel it now....uh doesn't sound like you guys are very consistent in your policies. Anyway, she said that I could either come in and fill out a refund form or I could call the corporate phone line and someone would get back to me soon. Another thing is that every time I went in there this last summer the high school aged girls at the counter would try to sell me a new lotion. There were pre-tan lotions, after-tan lotions, bronzing lotions, all of which they insisted that I needed in order to get tan in time for my sister's wedding.
