This place is just so incredibly unprofessional, honestly cringe-worthy at times. It is not limited to their front-desk staff, but their management as well. The most recent time I came in there were 2 girls at the counter playing on their phones. They didn't even acknowledge me standing 5 ft away and the one acted like she was busy doing something on the computer for 3 min before greeting me with a "what is your name" I think I've encountered 1 pleasant and friendly employee in all of my times coming here, they pretty much all have an attitude. read more

They charge you wayyy too much, just go to planet Fitness and get your membership and you get free tanning $100 for one month and then if you want to get a higher bed you gotta pay for extra freight. It's just absolutely ridiculous. They have the exact same beds at planet fitness and you can have a gym membership for like $20. read more

This Palm Beach Tan gets 5 stars solely because of Jess. Everyday that I come here she is so polite and bubbly. Super friendly always makes sure I get the sunbed I like. She really is a genuinely nice person and I always appreciate her helpful attitude! I went in for the $20 Spring Break spray tan special and ended up paying $45. I was checked out by the manager, Lisa, and was extremely surprised by the final price. It was my first spray tan however, so I assumed the additional costs were normal. I was told that I "needed" the additional primer, and then said no and she said my spray tan wouldn't look right without it, so I got it. Regardless, I was not informed that of these additional costs, and was informed by my friend that a unlimited monthly spray tan costs $49.99. You would think I would have been told this is my better option, but I was not. I called to try to get some form of reimbursement and Lisa was not understanding at all. I've been going to Palm Beach Tan about over a month now and the other day I wanted to cancel my account because I was going to be out of town almost all of March and of course I was one day late for canceling and "there was nothing they could do about it" then the girl told me I could just freeze my account, but she never told me about the hidden fee involved just to freeze my account. Also, in the beginning I just wanted to tan for a month and I had no idea that they would continuously charge my account every month. Beware of all the hidden fees and things they don't tell you. It's a trap and then when you recognize the situation they tell you it's too late for a refund. We all know tanning is bad for you. So the fact that this place has the worst customer service, and the highest prices of any tanning salon in the area should be enough to drive you away to better health. I came here looking for one or two individual tans before I went on vacation. Two things, the women at the counter act like they are the rulers of the universe and secondly the prices are OBSCENE. This used to be Cincinnati Tan, but recently changed to Palm Beach. They have gotten a few upgrades since switching over, like the awesome i-bed, which kinda feels like you're in a space shuttle, but gives you a really great, even color. I've tried a lot of tanning places in the area, and I always come back to this location. It is extremely pricey, which is why I've left quite a few times, but no place has all the amenities they do, so I always end up coming back. I've tried every tanning bed in the place, but lately I've been using the VersaSpa sunless spray tan to try to avoid that nasty cancer and all. Spray tanning works well, especially the Versa, which is much better than the old Mystic. The problem is the price. You can tan for about $30 a month in a decent bed, but if you want to do Versa, you'll be paying at least $60-80 a month. Just one session in the Versa will run you around $45. I do like the atmosphere of Palm Beach, and the staff is helpful, although they do tend to try to oversell products which can get annoying. I know it's part of their job, so I try not to get annoyed, but I have been offered the same products on every visit. Switch it up, guys! The variety and quality of beds and spray tans make this place ALMOST worth the price. If you're looking to get quick color for a special event or vacation, you can do that for a decent price. FILTHY TANNING GOGGLES!!!!!!! This same location previously had a bed that wasn't fully wiped down (I could see the imprint of the previous user) and also had damp towels and now this...ew. Not only were the glasses dirty, they had dried crusted mascara and at least 2 dirty eyelashes stuck to the inside!!!!!! How hard is it to sanitize properly?!?! Disgusting. I don't visit tanning places. My wife doesn't visit tanning places. But she was feeling depressed about not seeing sun in so many weeks and thought she could use some. She also saw a coupon for a week of free sessions advertised online! How nice. Except that it was a typical bait and switch. She went in and was told that the coupon wasn't active yet. She called me and I looked, and sure enough, there was nothing on the webpage or the coupon itself stating a start date, only an end date. No wonder this place has such negative reviews. I'm not sure what the end game is here, but aggravating new customers on their very first visit seems like a fantastic way to prime otherwise neutral people towards having a negative outlook on your business. read more

As a college girl on a budget, I was on a mission to get a quality tan for a practical price. I have previously tanned with Palm Beach Tan, but ended, not froze, my membership after a month. Normally, PBT is a little pricey for me, but having had bad experiences with other, cheaper salons, I could trust PBT beds to provide a deeper and healthier looking tan than other establishments. I was lucky enough to walk in during "Free Tan Week". I had the option to tan for free in the lowest level bed for the remainder of the week or have my start-up fee ($20) waived. I opted for the waiver and signed up a gold membership. The pros: I must say, my previous experience with PBT was rough as the girls were rude and pushy. However, my most recent experience has been nothing but pleasant. I'll start with the beds themselves. If you are looking for a natural tan with minimal redness, it is WELL worth the investment to go for a higher grade bed! The "free tan week" also got me $10 off my membership, so for $40 I had a free month of Gold level tanning. Wow! The results are beautiful! Even my past experiences in the lower level beds, they seemed to be fairly nice quality. PBT simply has the good technology. This location was extremely clean and smelled great unlike other tanning salons I have been to. Though it may not be the cheapest option, it is certainly a quality tan for a decent price. I guess tanning really is a "you get what you pay for" purchase. I found the women who worked there to be quite friendly compared to my last PBT experience. They seemed genuinely interested in providing me what I was looking for as opposed to emptying my wallet being the priority. "Jess" is receptive to my questions and lets me know of any new offers each visit. Now for the cons: Anyone who visits PBT is aware that those lotions are not cheap. $100 for a 20oz bottle of lotion? Really? This wouldn't be an issue if it weren't for the workers forcing it upon you. Now, now, I have been in retail once before so I get it, there are quotas to meet. However, no means no. When I say I don't want to pay an outrageous price for the same bottle I can get online $30 cheaper, I mean it! Last but not least, the dreaded, confusing contracts you sign into. They certainly don't make it an easy read. In fact, let's be real, they are trying to trick you (as many have been tricked before) into "accidentally" renewing a monthly membership. All these hidden fees drive me nuts! Customers have to pay to sign up, pay for the month, and if they'd like to take a hiatus from tanning but plan to return, they have to pay a fee to freeze their account! Let me say that again, they have to PAY to NOT tan. Ugh! The saving grace is that that money becomes a credit, so it is usable...eventually. I chose to give this PBT 4 stars because many of the cons I found were of the company, not this location particularly. While it can be a pretty penny to tan here, it certainly is one of the nicest tanning salons in the area for the price. A $20-a-month salon will give you a $20-a-month sunburn. read more

I'm not sure if the company improved after bad reviews, but my experiences have been great! I'm done with the sun, but love a tan! PBT offers multiple choices for spray tan to achieve the look you want without killing your skin. All the top of the line spray tan systems (Versa, Versa Pro and Mystic) and all their products. Plus staff can help you customize in any way that gets you exactly what you want. They really are there to help you! Most of the staff spray tan and can give you advice if you aren't sure about something! If you sign a contract, READ IT! It's a normal contract with options to freeze or cancel so be aware of your rights. And having a membership has its perks like free cash back (tan dollars) rewards. Also, hours are great and wait time is always minimal. read more

My review is based on a spray tan booth experience. I am by no means a tanning expert. (Particularly regular tanning beds) The customer service was pretty good for my visit. I see others have had really bad service and I wonder if maybe the company has taken a look at their horrid reviews of Yelp because they definitely seemed friendly and informative to me. Every time I go the workers are SO rude. They give me sass when I say I do not want to buy a tanning lotion, and are mean when I wanted to cancel my membership. This behavior hasn't only been seen by me. I know numerous other customers that are furious with the service they receive from this location. I have been treated poorly even from the store manage, she always seems super inconvenienced and annoyed when anyone walks in the door. All of the workers at this location need their attitudes adjusted. They also need to treat the paying customers with the kindness and respect we deserve. I had a great experience my first visit to the salon. I purchased a spray tan package and bought the lotions to use with it. The sales girl was great and extremely helpful with questions. However the other few times have been bad experiences. I left my bracelet in the tanning room (110% positive) that was a remembrance bracelet for a close that had just passed away. I went the next day to get it and the sales girl was extremely rude saying nothing was found And I have suspicions that they just threw it away. I know they are not liable and it was not valuable, but I did not appreciate the major attitude. I won't be coming back. read more

Worst place ever !!! They push you to be a member but I wanted to try first and pay for a single visit. I think it's normal that you may wanna try before commit right ? I truly wish I could give this location 0 stars. Every Palm Beach I've ever walked into has always had rude employees, but this location takes the cake. This Palm Beach Tan does not deserve the 2 1/2 stars it has now. The employees are the rudest women I've ever spoken to and are SO pushy about a ridiculous $100 tanning lotion. Madison was the assistant manager that acted inconvenienced to help me and seemed to be the leader of the drama and attitude. I wanted to do the $1 promotion and they were yelling at me to sign up for a package deal or to do an upgrade. This isn't a barter system, I came in for the promotion that had been advertised everywhere. The beds never got hot or even warm. I really think they were actually normal lightbulbs you would use in a kitchen? The normal beds at Planet Fitness are 100% better than the ones here. The customer service is something that should truly be on undercover boss to expose how childish and rude this location is. Palm Beach is way too pushy and pricey. If you have a coupon (check their website), it's great. If you don't, you have to pay for a 60 minute package or buy a monthly membership. Word to the wise, don't sign up with palm beach tan unless you plan to be a member for life...it is nearly impossible to cancel if you ever move...I'm leaving the state and I was told to go in person, or send a postal letter to TX. Palm Beach Tan is a malicious money hungry monopoly. Today I went in to cancel my account and my mothers, whom is the card holder on both accounts. I was informed I could not cancel her account even though it's the day before Christmas Eve so on top of being sick she doesn't have the time to drive and cancel it herself. I used to work at Palm Beach Tan and this was never an issue when I worked there, we always allowed immediate family to cancel others accounts. The manager at the Hyde Park is rude and a smart aleck. This location is more concerned about meeting their monthly goals then they are about their customers happiness. I'm willing to bet if I wanted to freeze our accounts rather than cancel then it would've been no issue at all. It's unfortunate a company this large allows people with such poor customer service to work there. I will not be returning to this location. You would think after I quit for being threatened and lied to that they would do something about the poor store managers they keep, then again the Cincinnati corporate office are all good friends therefore nobody seems to face real consequences. On the bright side Planet Fitness offers the same top level tanning, that Palm Beach charges $100.00 a month, for just $20.00 a month. I've been a member of Palm Beach for about 6 years now. Currently my account is on freeze ($5.00/mo) as I decide if I want to start it up again this season. If I do, I'm thinking of doing the spray tans to help my aging skin. I am grandfathered in at a decent monthly rate so I can't complain. What annoys me the most about Palm Beach is the wait time. As a monthly member I think they should have an express check-in or something. What ends up happening on numerous occasions is that I have to stand in line and wait for the sales person to SELL packages to anyone in front of me. Sometimes this can get quite lengthy and all I want to do is check in and tan. Many times the beds are even open but the sales people are spending my time selling to other customers that are not members. I've complained about their system quite a few times in person but nothing seems to change. Just not a good policy for loyal customers in my opinion. read more
