I was recommended this salon from a Facebook group, to see a stylist I'd never seen before because I wanted a specific cut before the end of the week. I booked with the stylist online, realized I couldn't make that time, called the receptionist and was able to schedule me with the same level stylist as previously, that would fit my availability and timeline. Luckily, I got Shelby (shoutout!) who was conveniently from the same small area I was and we had mutual friends. The time passed so quickly as we never ran out of things to talk about. I'm in love with my haircut and tips she'd given about some questions I had to improve the overall health of my hair. I'll absolutely be returning to this salon! Also -- it's absolutely beautiful! I had such a great experience at benefit this morning! I needed to book a last min blowout and style for my gender reveal today and benefit had a morning opening! Natalie was great and efficient at washing, drying and styling. She used Dyson and T3 products and Natalie was able to provide a lot of info about the tools, I may buy one! While I waited for my appointment I enjoyed a hot cup of aveda aromatherapy tea from their coffee and tea station. Will definitely be back for future hair needs, They also have makeup application options! The Space is also so beautiful, covered with greenery, lots of plants, such a welcoming space. read more

***My review Circa 2015: I'm a guy. A guy who looks like biker trash most days I'm not in a suit for work. I've always felt weird getting my hair cut in a Salon as I was usually the only guy in there and at the same time I vowed to NEVER step foot in a Barber Shop again since the late 90s. I've bounced between stylists in my younger days looking for that right person who 'gets me' until I found Angeline. Angeline is my stylist at Benefit Salon and she 'gets me.' Not only does she offer suggestions when I'm thinking a new direction with my hair, but she does her homework outside of the salon to see what styles are out there in the world that would work well with my look and grooming habits. I've never experienced this kind of care and attention to detail with anyone else which is why I am a fiercely loyal client of hers. Not only does Angeline work with my hair but also my beard. My beard, even more than my hair, is what defines me in a way. It's that trusted friend, that secret lover, that sacred part of me which I hold dearest of all. And I let Angeline cut it. If you're a Beardsman like I am, you have to have a lot of trust to let someone get that close to your mane. Simply put, Angeline is *the best*, hands down, end of argument. When Angeline decided to move her chair to Benefit Salon I had no worries. No worries I'd feel awkward, or out of place, or just weird. The staff at Benefit Salon are all great people and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. It's kinda like you belong there to begin with. The whole place just has a great positive vibe to it - I just can't explain. So take it from me, Grizzly Adams, a 30-something Beardsman and introvert, treat yourself to a haircut and mini facial (dude, it's awesome, get over yourself and try it!). And IF you're lucky enough to be able to see Angeline, do it. Let her know The Dude sent you. You won't be disappointed. ***My follow-up review Circa 2021: I'd say nothing has changed. The staff is still great. Angeline, who I still see, is *still* awesome. They're in a better location now. They survived the pandemic which killed off a lot of businesses. I was ecstatic to have a mother daughter Salon day together to not only enjoy a little pampering but, the end results as well. My daughter booked two appointments one for a full balayage and one for a full highlight for myself which included a shampoo. Long story short my daughter went in with black box dyed hair and came out looking the same minus two blonde strands in her bangs that the Salon manager called money pieces for $170. I understand being warned that her hair may have not lift properly but, to now have mismatched hair colors popping out after a few washes does not look right. To no avail after sending the Salon messages on Facebook and to their company email also, speaking to the Salon manager we are left with no alternative other than to fix her hair ourselves or go to another salon. I am very happy with my results done by Bridgette however, I was overcharged by $40 for a haircut that I didn't receive. I would have not noticed the additional charges if, it weren't for calling in to speak to the manager about receiving some kind of assistance with my daughter's hair. I completely understand there are all kinds of challenges faced when coloring hair. I've colored my hair numerous times throughout my life. This will be the first time paying nearly $200 to see no change whatsoever. It's ultimately disappointing. read more

My stylist (Cat) was really knowledgable about what I was asking for and was super friendly the whole time. The owner checked in on me after the service and was also really friendly. Had a lovely experience at benefits salon. I received the recommendation from my bf & his brother who both regularly get their hair cut there & love it. I have been trying to get to a platinum blonde so I could do the silver toner. I have been going to another salon for a couple months & after spending over 100 every time to see only minimal results. I decided to try benefits; after coming in with a dark root & dirty blonde I was lifted enough to really be able to see the silver grey for the first time on the first visit! I find this place intriguing it is a hair salon, yoga, pilates and personal training studio. If not for one of the local deal sites offering $5 fit classes, I would have never known of this place since it sits in a converted house on Columbia Parkway and I am normally focused on not rear-ending the car in front of me. My friend and I agree, the group fitness classes are not for everyone as in if you have never done a total body training class or are out of shape, you will struggle with this hour long class. The instructor, who does not do the exercises with the class nor check each student to ensure proper form, does not give the lower-level students ways to modify the exercises. But if you stick with the hour long class, you will be worked out and will have listened to a variety of rap music, if that's your thing... I realize group fitness classes are not personal training, but it does give you an idea of the instructor's personality and style and what works for some students may not work for others. Having done personal training at another venue, I am glad I am not paying full price for the group fitness classes here, but I also am not sold on any other fitness offerings nor would my friend and I tell encourage others (which probably was not their intention when they offered the discounted classes). read more

I came to Benefit Salon to get my eyebrows tinted for the first time. I did not really know what I was doing or what I was getting into but the staff was super understanding and accommodating! The room you get your brows tinted in is like a massage room that is serene and calming. The entire process took about 15 minutes and was painless. I loved the results I got and the color was a perfect match to my hair. Only reason I'm giving 4 stars in the review is I thought it was a bit over priced, $25-30 plus tip, for what it was and how long the tint lasts in your brows, roughly 2 weeks. So if you have the money to spend and time to come in every 2 weeks I recommend Benefit Salon! If not I believe there are better options out there! read more

Going to a new salon always makes me anxious. The lady who cut my hair for nearly 15 years retired a number of years ago, and I still haven't found a salon I love. But I think I've found somewhere worth going back to! I don't do anything wild and crazy to my hair- I get layers, but somehow, someone, always manages to screw it up, no matter what I say or how many pictures I show. But Tess was excellent. She actually took the time to layer my hair (I have a lot of it, so no, even a trim shouldn't take 20 minutes). She had me double check the front and back as she was cutting it. The layers are great- they're well blended and it doesn't look like I have distinct "levels" to my hair. I definitely recommend Tess. She's sweet, easy to talk to, and did a great job. I've been toying with the idea of dying my hair slightly darker, and if I decided to bite the bullet I'll head back to Benefit! read more

I typically have long hair and and particular when I get it cut short and katelynn was able to cut it exactly how I described. They also style if for you however you want! YAY TO A NEW SALON - I've never ever ever had anyone else do my hair except one person and with my new 9-5 I can't am unable to see her anymore considering she doesn't work her work schedule so onward I went to finding a new hair stylist. I did A LOT of research before scheduling this appointment; looking at reviews, photos and also their pricing. After a lot of deciding and going back and forth, I made an appointment at Benefit Salon & Spa with Lauren on a Saturday. Originally I set it for a balayage and cut but made it clear I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted. Going in I was on a pretty big time crunch knowing I had to go to a bridal brunch directly after so I made sure they knew and was prepared that I needed to be out within the exact time quoting for the haircut and color, and they were more than understanding and helpful with it. The entire time I was not stressed out at all about not being able to get out on time. Walking in to meet Lauren I told her what I wanted and was looking for so we ending up going with a highlight and cut to add more blonde. She went to work right away with the color and was great about keeping a conversation flowing so it was not uncomfortable one time. Everyone offered me something to drink if needed and there was also a Keurig machine on hand for whoever wanted to use it. The space is gorgeous, open, fresh and clean. Placed upstairs in the building it is in, it has a gorgeous natural light shining through. Something I noticed while I was there is that a lot of the stylists also had a lot of men clients coming in and out for actual haircut styles. So all the men out there, this is the place to go for you. I asked my stylist about it and she said everyone there has many men clients and works on all different hair styles and types. Which I instantly passed onto my long-haired boyfriend who has been looking for a place to cut his hair for a while now. At the end of the appointment I made it out on PERFECT time and was so happy with my entire experience. plus my finished hair is GORG. After getting a TERRIBLE hair cut at a different salon my friend recommended coming here and having Jocelyn salvage my hair. I called immediately and unfortunately due to Jocelyn's popularity I had to wait a week to get in. After a very long week of awkward hairdos I finally arrived at Benefit eager to have my hair back in presentable condition. Not only was Jocelyn enjoyable to talk to but she did an amazing job cutting my hair. John leads a kick ass boot camp! He is hard, but it works! I lost noticeable weight in just three classes! Monday, Wednesday and Friday are Cardio (6am, 7am or 6pm (no PM on Friday) and Tuesday/Thursday is Strength training at 6am and 6pm. Strength training is definitely the hardest class. John likes lunges and makes no apologies for it. Caroline is great too, and as I am not in top physical condition like some of the other participants, she always gives me a modified way of doing things. I also like the attendee's. Many are in great shape but they encourage you and pat you on the back after classes. Fran, the owner, is really nice and an inspiration to the class. She is very motivating and always encouraging us to keep going. I think it is refreshing to see the owner actually taking the classes. I also have been to John for personal training. He is awesome at what he does. He doesn't let me make excuses and he pushes me to do more each time. I also like he does assisted stretching after the session and that feels sooooo good. The new address is actually 3913 Eastern Ave Cincinnati, OH 45226- they moved a few months ago. Great new studio space too! The prices are kinda steep compared to other studios and gyms ($20 walk in, no student rates), but the classes are for an hour. They have weekly and monthly passes that don't expire if you skip days or don't use them. If they offered lower rates and offered student discounts, I would easily give this 5 plus stars. Even though I live in Columbia- Tusculum, I am a student and not uber rich like the people living in the million dollar houses I am surrounded by lol. read more

I will not be returning to Benefits Salon. My last appointment there, I had to wait 45 minutes to be seen, even though I had a reservation scheduled ahead of time. They only called me 5 min prior to my appointment, after I was already on my way, to tell me my stylist was running 20 min late. Those 20 minutes turned into 45 minutes until I was finally ready to be seen. The stylist also ended up getting dye on the collar of my white sweater and it will no longer come out. The only positive feedback is that I did like how my hair turned out, but the entire experience is not worth the almost $300 I had to spend. If you will be charging your customers this much, the service must be impeccable. read more

It is evident that even the 'experienced' hairdressers are still studying their trade. I went there because it was cheap and got what I paid for. In the future, If I want to save money, I'll go to a hair school-where they have professionals fix mistakes without addressing customers with unprovoked aggression when a mistake occurred. The stylist there with the red hair exhibited very unprofessional and rude behavior to the point I will no longer give them my business. I might have expected such attitude from an expert stylist, but based on the uneven foil lines in my hair, I can attest, this is not the case. read more
