No sanitation. And dirty beds during Covid. Since this is a luxury type service I wanted to see if it was worth doing. Before my visit I went online to see what Palm Beach/ Planet Tan was doing to heighten their sanitation procedures since Covid. Per the website they said that they were heightening sanitation and also proof of sanitation. The website reads that they are leaving tape on the door to ensure that nobody has been in that room since it's been sanitized. When I visited a location there was no tape on any doors and the beds looked like they haven't been cleaned in months. I asked the staff about the "tape on the door" and the "heightened sanitation procedures" and they had no idea what I was talking about. I had to pull up their website and show them what their procedures were. They told me that I could go into a different bed since that one was in fact dirty. I brought my own sanitation wipes with just in case and I am so glad that I did! When I wiped the bed down I was so disgusted to see how much the wipe pulled up from the bed. I didn't even finish my session there. I let the staff see the wipes (turned black) that I used to clean the bed myself and asked them to relay the message to their manager. I have not heard back. I also called corporate and no answer. Left a voice mail and no response. As I said before this is a luxury service, and you really just go there to tan and leave. So putting up with bad customer service and unkept facilities isn't that big of a deal for most. But getting into a dirty bed is the ultimate line in the sand. It is extremely alarming that during this time a service such as this would have such low standards of sanitation. Even if it we weren't in a pandemic these "standards" of cleanliness are disturbing! I hate that I even have to take time out of my day to leave this review. But I do think it's necessary that you know what you're getting into before you plan your next visit. read more

I really like the management at this place but I come in at night and the teenage girl at the front desk is a customer service nightmare. I would be embarrassed if my child acted the way she does. I had many jobs as a teen and I never behaved this way. She is rude, constantly checks her watch for the time, verbally sighs at you and honestly it's uncomfortable. I never leave bad reviews...I actually really avoid it because I respect what it means to run a business. But this is just so bad. I'm uncomfortable every time I go in. read more

If I could give them a 0 I would. Ever since I moved to Allen this was the closest planet tan for me. I would normally go to the one in Frisco, which is way nicer and the staff is way better. This location has had the worst staff I've ever experienced, the girls absolutely do not care about their job nor the customers. I went in to get more bronzing tan and the girl couldn't tell me anything about the different lotions. It was embarrassing and I ended up leaving to go to the one in frisco. Not only do they not know anything about their job they are always rude, almost every time I come in the girls act like it's so terribly hard to get a tanning bed started or that it is the absolute last thing on earth they want to be do. No greeting or farewell ever. Don't bother going to this location. Management should fire all those girls and just start over. Train them better! read more

Horrible customer service. I experienced deceptive business practices including asking customers to sign documents on an electronic signature pad on the counter. There is no display to see the document you are being asked to sign. I was told to cancel my membership, I must sign the "cancellation form" that I could not see. When I insisted on reading the document before signing, I learned the document stated I had been given information about "stay and save" options which I had not, and that I agreed to being charged another month even though I specifically had said I would not agree to the additional charge. The employee then stated that my membership could not be cancelled unless I signed that document. Customers are asked to sign in agreement to documents they can't see because there is no display to see what is being signed. Why would a business intentionally not provide a way for customers to see what they are signing? Perhaps this is intentional. If I had signed the cancellation form when asked, I am certain the salon would have used that signature to argue I agreed to the additional month's charge. I was given incorrect information by an employee of Plant Tan about the terms of membership when I joined. When I cancelled, I was charged for an additional month without my consent. I contacted the manager and she was absolutely no help and very unprofessional. She stated directly that she had no responsibility to me for the actions of her employees. She insisted she had no control of what her employees said or did and that I should "call corporate" even though she could not provide the phone number to call. Although she stated she could contact her district manager regarding my concerns and request for refund of unauthorized credit card charges, she refused to do so. I requested several times she contact her district manager and she refused. She further refused to take any further action to assist me insisting it was out of her hands. After reading several other reviews, it appears many other customers have been victims of misleading and unethical practices resulting in unauthorized billing after cancellation, refusal to refund unauthorized charges, employees misrepresentation of the terms of the membership agreement to potential members and the refusal of "corporate" to provide a remedy. Please consider my experience before becoming a member and giving them your credit card number. read more

I posted a scathing review about poor service and misinformation from the many staffers I have dealt with in the last 2 years. The new manager called me and took care of all my issues. She was understanding and more than reasonable with her resolution of the problems I had encountered. Prices are a little high, but it's worth it. Don't ever buy a sample pack of lotion because you'll pay at least $15-20 for the small pack. You might as well suck it up and buy a bottle (starts at $50 or $60 for a beginner) from them or you can go online. They have spray tan (both Mystic and VersaSpa), stand up beds and premium beds. The staff is hit-or-miss on knowledge and friendliness, but let's face it, you're there to get in, get brown and get out. If you have questions about usage or applications, just ask. They are usually helpful. They have only a few locations spread throughout the Dallas area, but they are centrally located with easy access off the freeway usually. If you refer a friend to sign up, you get $7 credit towards your next month's payment too. read more

I really would consider another business. I found myself dreading the entering this structure. The lack of friendliness and having to wait before a tan offered a negative experience. I love the staff here. Yes they're going to try to get you to buy lotion, and yes they're going to tell you when you're able to upgrade. But that's their job. And you're allowed to say no. I've never felt pressured to buy anything I didn't want. And anything I have bought or upgraded has always been wonderful. It doesn't bother me when employees do their job, and I think it's hilarious people are complaining. The beds are always clean, and the staff is always peppy and willing to make small talk. I much prefer this tanning place than to a few other places I've tried. read more

Man, I remember signing up for my membership and boy did they sucker me in purchasing this and that and these and those. The saddest part is that they don't tell you how much they are-the tanning lotion, moisturizer and face bronzer with the membership added up super quickly. However, their customer service is great. Diane, who use to be the manager there was fabulous along with a few of the other girls. Their beds are always clean and ready for use. I tan in the evenings and it's not so bad. Most of the time, there's no wait and the few times that I did, it was no longer than 10 mins. The girls that know me by name don't hound on me so much about purchasing new lotions, but when ever there are new faces, I just know they're going to bug me about some new lotion that's on sale. I've learned to stand my ground and graciously decline the offer and tell them that I'm content with the product I am using. Overall, I love the atmosphere and great customer service. read more

Hands down, i give this place a 5 star review. I came in during a weekday mid morning and the lady that helped me out was incredibly knowledgable about the beds, lotions, sunless tanning, etc. She gave me a tour of the salon and gave me a breakdown on price per bed and told me what each bed was good for(after I had already let her know i have tanned indoors before, most places would just be like oh she already knows the drill) i really appreciated her going over everything. She went over the spray tanning equipment with me as well. After deciding which package I wanted, she went over the lotions i could get at a discount and thoroughly described what each one was good for. She also put a test sample on my arm which allowed me to view the pigment and smell the product. In the end i got a great deal because they had a special going on, i got a discount on my lotion, and i got a free spray tan! Ive been to a few tanning salons, and this one by far has the best service. The beds are also super clean and the music they play is on point! read more

I have been tanning for several years and absolutely love the Allen location as the staff is super friendly. I am giving this location one star as I have been trying to get a refund for over three months. I froze my account in January/2019 as I do every year and the full membership amount was drafted from my account for Jan., Feb., Mar. and April. I contacted the Allen and Frisco locations several times in the last couple of months to get assistance with a refund and was told every time someone would get in contact with corporate and call me back. I never received a call back. I found the corporate number online and spoke to a representative who told me I had to freeze my account again and then wait for the District Manager to call me back but to understand my refund will be rejected as my account is still showing active in the system. I am well aware my account is still showing active which is why I have been calling numerous times and made three trips to the Allen location. At what point is someone at Planet Tan going to take full responsibility and understand I did what I was supposed to do and the error/mistake is on the Planet Tan worker who should have done her job correctly or who should have been trained properly. In March/2019, my credit card expiration was going to expire, I went to the Frisco location so they could update my card. What's interesting...they were able to update my card with no issues but failed to freeze my account. As of today...I am still waiting on a refund. Customers beware of freezing your account and MAKE SURE TO ALWAYS GET A RECEIPT. read more

Please be aware of the dishonesty of this location. I left my ring laying on the chair in the room. After walking out realizing my ring was not on my finger within minutes I walk back into the building to the uncleaned room where there was a fresh towel along with the dirty towel and a missing ring. When I know damn good and well i removed my ring while applying lotion and placed it onto the chair, so the ring should have still been there when I returned to the room. Carrie the regional manager was completely rude with no concern of my missing ring or the employee that was working. A police report was filed and an investigation will be started. It is very upsetting how a regional manager of a corporation has no concerns for their clients. I understand there is a lost or stolen policy but when you are the only employee cleaning the rooms there should be some accountability for their actions. read more

Absolutely awful. David, the so-called manager, was rude, and impolite upon my arrival. I was a new customer and was shopping around for an event I have later this month. David was eating like what can best be described as a rabid coyote at the front counter, was on the phone talking about customers to what I assume is another employee, and playing on the computer. I explained I'd never been to Planet Tan before, and he was very snooty with me, asked if I wanted to buy a FULL YEAR UP FRONT, to which I explained, I would not. I was only in the market for a few tans or cocktails. He advised me he had other things to do and would call an employee to handle it, and passed me off as he didn't care. I left as soon as turned to go down the hall. I went down the street to Palm Beach, I understand they are owned by the same company, but the staff at PB was more inviting.
