They turned my deck into a gorgeous screened-in porch in just five days. Now I just wish I had called them 20 years ago! The screen not only helps with reducing heat but also provides privacy. They were very professional and communicated well during the project. I appreciate all the details they used in finishing my porch.

Company did a beautiful job on the enclosure. I am enjoying sitting on the patio when it rains.

HMC Contracting - New enclosed sunroom

HMC Contracting

I took bids from multiple contractors to demo our existing 8' x 33' deck and 8' x 20' overhang. It…read morewas in horrible shape, and (worse) had been anchored directly to our house by the prior owners. Chad and HMC were the most reasonable bid for the scope of work and my wife and I could not be more pleased with the results! Demo took only a couple days, and (once the construction crew was assembled), construction took less than a week, including the new roof. The new dimensions are 14'x20', and it's a fantastic living space. My girls love being outside on it. And, to boot, I've gotten compliments not only from neighbors, but from two other contractors who have come to my place for unrelated jobs. Those pros complemented the quality construction, especially the double edging and the blocking under the support beams. Go with HMC and you will be so happy you did!

I don't know how the other positive reviews came about, because our experience with HMC Contracting…read morewas pretty bad. We had our enclosed patio redone... It took forever, and once we were in the process I couldn't wait till it was over. It felt like the Three Stooges were sent to do the work. The painting had to be redone several times -- their "team" clearly had no idea what they were doing. We had to have them rebuild the door at least twice, because the quality was truly subpar. Six months later, the door is already showing age (see photo). They were careless with the space (inside the patio, and in the surrounding garden). They never cleaned up after themselves. I had to entirely cut back one of the plants behind the patio because it was so badly broken. I'd find nails and debris around outside that I would have to throw away; they brought plastic, but barely covered our patio furniture (so I did that myself); and they broke one of our side tables. Attention to detail was absent -- I've attached photos of just SOME of the trim corners that do not match up -- there are gaps instead. Chad and his son Adam were nice enough, but we were paying for something that should've looked excellent in the end. It looks OKAY (if you don't really look at the details), and it was no fun getting there. I would absolutely suggest using a different contractor.

Things that make you go hmm. Yard and lawn damage, over $10,000 worth. It's not just the wwork that was meant to be done, but the quality and industry standards applied. A cake can look so good and apatizing. But when you cut into the cake, you discover it's made of expanding foam. Is that a real cake, baked with care? Or a sugar icing coating just to look good. Daily communication occurred (often multiple times during a given day) on a Prestige-created text thread. We virtually always knew where the project was on the timeline and were never left wondering. When circumstances arose with a given subcontractor's schedule, Carter let us know in advance. He had already figured out how he would deal with the situation (or had already dealt with it). The subcontractors were always kind, respectful, competent in their various trades, and respectful of our home. We had two bathrooms completely remodeled (one of them was also enlarged), a hardwood floor installed in three bedrooms and a game room, doorways widened and new doors installed. The existing deck was enlarged and screened in (using materials that exactly matched). In addition, several items of assistive equipment were installed. Any changes we desired were accommodated. Everything was done very professionally, per the contract (with changes per our wishes). All of the work was of top-notch quality that was never compromised. Mike B.

I wish I didn't have to write this review: we had a great experience with the company a couple…read moreyears ago (so great that I served as a reference for them!), so when we needed help with a substantial primary bathroom renovation, they were our first call. Unfortunately, our experience this time around was terrible -- I cannot in good faith recommend them anymore. Giving two stars (rather than one) because the work quality was very good. Subs did a great job, were friendly and cleaned up after themselves. In the end, we didn't go over budget. But we paid a lot of money and experienced a lot of unnecessary delay and drama. In short, our project was a victim of poor communication and lack of ownership taking responsibility. We went through four project managers: the first went MIA on us, delaying the demo start by 6 weeks; the second hadn't read any of the project briefing and let us to believe none of our materials had been ordered; the third was too busy with other projects to make ours a priority; and the fourth was brand new, didn't really know what he was doing, and wasn't getting the oversight he needed from leadership. To the company's credit, they didn't end up charging us for project management--as we'd been doing a big portion of it ourselves. Ultimately, a project that should've taken 8-10 weeks took 16 weeks (and that's after the 6-week-delayed start). The thing that was most frustrating was that while Dan was fairly responsive to our outreach when things were regularly going wrong, he was also regularly pretty dismissive of our concerns and didn't take responsibility for all of the mistakes and screw-ups that were the result of his team's failings--failing to read the brief; failing to install underfloor heating and electrical that was in the brief, resulting in ripping up tile that had just been laid; failing to inspect goods on arrival so that they could be replaced when broken without delaying the project; failing to tell us about budget implications of design choices, etc. Dan will say I was mad when things went wrong, and that some of those things were out of their control. Yes, I was mad. But mostly I was disappointed that I trusted this company, and they took advantage of that trust.

Dan was fabulous! Was he the lowest bid? No. But the expertise and guidance that he provided me…read moreafter my whole home renovation was abandoned by another contractor was invaluable. My project manager, Jake, was a joy to work with. He was always responsive.

Then Monday the day of the scheduled job the crew showed up but the person in charge of the roofers didn't. No problem. The next day they show up and get to work. Good thing I work from home if not my roof we be wrong as we were removing an old jack. from a fireplace and a few others. The foreman then had to drive back to my house as the roofing crew did not understand. After talking to the Foreman they still covered a roof vent for my Bathroom fan. After calling them again the Foreman and the owners son showed up. After a lot of confusion I was told by the owners son that a bathroom fan vent on the roof is HVAC and they will only do what is in the contract. After a heated conversation I told them to do the job right or I'll pay for the material and get someone else to do it right. He owners son then said he is placing a lien on my house and and it is now going to be his. After the foreman separated us to cool down, I tried to call the owner John and he did not answer. I pulled up the contract to show it says about the roof jack and the son said he is pulling his crew and will take my house. The foreman then said to deal with him and I told the foreman that the owners son needs to leave my property. The owners son then tried to fight me and said to make him. leave the property. After all this they finished the roof only to find out that the did not install any flashing, so now I have exposed wood on the sides of my house and they did not paper over the whole roof, which will cause a leak and now my whole house smells of asphalt. The owner will not answer my calls or texts. The foreman is the only one Trying. I stopped payment till this issue is fixed and will probably end up in court as it seems this company is less than a year old and will not be around long. Save yourself the hassle.
