This company is very misleading. Their ads show up when I do searches for local contractors. Website looks professional and they have listed the areas that they service. Once you fill out the form to get a quote, they tell you they cannot fulfill your request, but they're in reach with contractors I can. After that, I started getting phone calls for the next several hours from nationwide companies whom Powell and sons sold my information too. Within seconds, I'm getting a call from Leaf Filter, which left me confused because that's not the form I filled out. Super weird phone call, but the most irritating thing was getting asked if there was a joint co-owner on the property, if my husband was on board, and if we were going to install it on our house... like no I'm just giving gutters away for free. Had a guy come out today who spent the whole time yapping in a very condescending way, saying how what I needed really was nothing of value nor really made them any profit as a business and that they wouldn't bother coming back. He had clearly never read my request. Also kept got asked if my husband was on board with this project, so odd. Ultimately they quoted me like $1,100 for a gutter and could do a best price of $390 if I said yes on the spot. No. I said it'd be rude to cancel the other contractors I had and this guy went on a soapbox as to why they would be relived not to come to my house. Should have just closed the garage door on him, to be honest. Pretty gross, sleazy, and predatory sales tactic. My experience was similar to others here, but we live in New Hampshire and my call came from Capital Construction. The first red flag was when I got a call from a rep of the company literally 30 seconds after I filled out a quote request form on the Powell and Sons website. I asked the caller why he was calling when I had not contacted Capital Construction and he gave some bullshit runaround thing about "Oh yeah, well those things get out and you'll probably be hearing from a bunch of other people." Despite this red flag, I continued with the call. At one point, the person asked if there were other owners of the house and that Capital Construction needed them present at the time of the visit. (Same as another female reviewer - which makes me wonder if it's a misogynist thing or a tactic to get all owners to sign the contract at that moment.) I stated that this was an odd request that I had never received from any other vendor. He, again, gave me a bullshit response of "Well, that's required by the Better Business Bureau, blah, blah, blah." Again, I ignored the red flag. They were keen to schedule immediately, so I ended up making it for 5:00 p.m. after a long day of work. The young man who showed up was honestly very polite and seemed like a nice guy. Unfortunately, he'd been trained to conduct an extremely insulting and aggravating sales pitch session: asking questions for which the answers are obvious to lead me in a specific direction; spending 20 minutes telling me about all of the history of the company and the high-profile jobs they've completed; complimenting me on everything he could possibly think of and generally avoiding actually just assessing the job and giving me a quote. When he did give the quote, it was obvious that his company had trained him to give a high number and then offer the euphemistic "efficiency" quote, meaning sign on the dotted line right now. No way I would ever do that. Again, totally insulting. He wasted 90 minutes of my life. My brother and husband, both co-owners, didn't even bother to sit around for most of it and were also extremely aggravated by the whole performance. Why won't you let people use NO stars? I made the mistake (and wasted time) filling out their "Free Estimate" form. All they are is a front for LeafFilter. I wrote a detailed message about how/why I needed my gutter REPLACED and I doubt they even read it. I got a call from LeafFilter immediately. Wish I would have read the reviews for this website before actually putting my info in. It is a cover for Angies List. Their website misleads people into thinking they are getting a local, family operated business. In reality, you get sent straight to a spam company that sells off your contact info all over. I needed one cracked window repaired and ended up getting contacted immediately with someone trying to patch me through to MULTIPLE companies that only wanted to do full home window replacements. Now I have sales people calling at ALL HOURS trying to sign me up even after telling them to stop calling. This is a total scam - I THOUGHT I was going to an actual business but it's a marketing site for anyone who does work even remotely related to the work you are looking for. I needed a couple of panes of glass in a couple of windows replaced (not window replacement, mind you), a re-glazing for a third window and a crank replaced for a jalousie window - received quotes from two different companies each for over $2,500.00 !!!! WAT??? So I dug into the interwebs and found a reputable glass repair business who told me that the reglaze was not necessary (how refreshing), and they are doing the work for $600.00. Buyer beware.
