Every time a weight hit the floor I would get an evil stare and then eventually got reprimanded. It's gym not a museum right lol? And no I wasn't throwing weights around being disrespectful. I was down in Florida in July 2025 for 2 1/2 weeks and wanted to try this place because it was new. So I bought a one month membership for myself and my wife and then asked to freeze the account until we come back down to Florida since we live in New Jersey. We did everything through a gentlemen named Mac who understood our situation that we wouldn't be coming back down until the next year. I got billed the next month accidentally and he refunded me and apologized. At that time I asked him to take my card off file. Fast forward to January and I've been getting billed the last 3 months after several phone calls with the owner and emails sent without a response. Today was the last straw as I called AGAIN to have my card removed and to be refunded. I mentioned that I'm going to have my bank reverse the charges and he started calling me a jack ass and saying why don't I come and say this to his face because he felt "threatened" and will sue me if I do it. I can't say enough awful things about the people here except for Mac who actually doesn't even work there anymore probably because he was nice. The fact that I asked several times for the card to be taken off file and it hasn't been is severely alarming. Anyone that is traveling and thinking about Joining beware. They told me something completely different than what the contract said. Stupid me for taking their word for it and not reviewing the contract. Not keeping your word says a lot about a business. The gym is beautiful though.

You will definitely walk out sore in the best way. The open windows and natural lighting keep it from feeling like a dungeon, and honestly make you want to work out longer. I've been to a lot of gyms, and this one is absolutely top-tier. The staff is amazing too--there's a lady who walks around cleaning like it's her own home. The place is spotless. And the crowd? Only serious gym rats show up, which keeps the environment focused and legit. Those super low-cost gyms that take anyone just don't compare--they lose that true workout atmosphere. I love my gym!!! The company majority is owned by private-equity firm TSG Consumer Partners. This Planet Fitness location is in the Planet Fitness Plaza on Powerline Road in Pompano. This isn't my usual gym so I enjoyed checking out another Planet Fitness to compare. Pompano seemed larger and more open than my gym. The equipment was set up in similar locations so I could find what I wanted. Some of the machines that get backed up in my local gym were more available here. They also had four of my beloved iFIT bikes compared to the two my gym has. The only thing I didn't like was it felt very hot in here. I would have appreciated lowering the AC. Like my gym, the Pompano location is also 24 hours which I love. Sometimes I like to come very late on the weekends when the gym is empty so I can feel I little more free in trying new things. This location also has the Black Card area for the $25 a month members with tanning beds, hydro beds, and massage chairs. I barely have enough time to work out never mind lie around so this has not been an appealing upgrade for me. The locker room has showers but that is another feature that I don't care to use. Overall I have been happy with Planet Fitness. I have been going on a regular basis for a few months now and can see the change in my body. The hours are great and I can pop in for as little or as long as I have. The machines are easy to use and they have videos on You Tube and QR codes on the machines so you know how to use them. There are so many ways to work out that I am never bored. I try to learn a new machine each time I come and I incorporate both cardio and weights into my workouts. Whatever part of your body that you want to work on, there are numerous ways to get there. Best of all this gym is not intimidating for beginners but is equally great for the hard core fitness fanatic. People stick to their own thing and you can feel comfortable doing yours in the "Judgement Free Zone." You can download the Planet fitness app that makes check in a breeze, tracks your progress and workouts, and where you can even find home workouts. The app also lets you know how crowded the gym is. I like that it works with the Apple Health app on my watch. So far this is the longest fitness routine I have stuck to and it has seeped into other areas of my life like a better diet and more regular visits to the doctor to keep up with my health goals and to think it all started with the first time I stepped through the door of a Planet Fitness.

When I went back to the desk and said I would like to try it, I was told (with her mouth full) to download the app. The service was terrible in there for cell usage so I asked if there was WiFi, she then said with her mouth still full and spitting food and pointing towards something that I couldn't understand to the wall. There was nothing there. The WiFi info was on the desk. I tried to connect to that and that didn't work. I was so frustrated by how rude the woman was and that I was receiving no help that I left. What she did was disgusting and beyond rude. It's no problem, I am giving my money to Apex Gym.

I had one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had at a gym at this LA Fitness…read morelocation. After seeing an ad for their 3-day pass, I registered online and booked a confirmed appointment for 9 AM. I even received a confirmation text. Because my closest location is closed, I drove over 30 minutes to get here. When I arrived, the associate at the front told me, "There's no one from sales to activate the pass or show you the club, so we can't help you." No apology, no alternative, no solution. I explained that I had a confirmed appointment and had driven a long distance. He just shrugged, clearly not caring. When I said I might have to post my experience publicly, another employee -- an older gentleman working there -- loudly said, "You should!" in a rude, confrontational tone. When I asked for clarification, he responded, "Do whatever you like." I calmly asked for his name. He refused, became visibly aggressive, and when I took a photo simply to document who I was speaking to, he escalated into insults and threatening behavior. Nothing justifies a staff member at a gym behaving like this toward a guest who arrived with a confirmed appointment. Between the complete disregard for appointments, the lack of accountability, and the hostile attitude of the employees, I left without being helped and genuinely shocked at how unprofessional this location is run. If this is how potential new members are treated when they walk in the door, I can only imagine what actual members deal with.

For the price (still one of the cheapest national chains with month-to-month options), you get a ridiculous amount of locations, decent equipment variety, a pool, basketball courts, and free group classes. If you just want to show up, lift, do some cardio, maybe swim or shoot hoops, and leave, it does the job better than most places in this price range. Off-peak hours can actually feel halfway decent plenty of machines, shorter waits, and the vibe is tolerable. Now the part literally everyone complains about (because it's true): Cleanliness is a coin flip. Some days it's fine, other days the locker room smells like regret and the equipment is sticky. Stuff breaks and stays broken forever saunas, hot tubs, half the cable machines, you name it. Towel service? Good luck. Bring your own or prepare to air-dry. Staff ranges from genuinely cool humans to people who act like you're bothering them by existing. Canceling or fixing billing issues? People write horror stories that could be Netflix documentaries. Read the contract twice and screenshot everything. Bottom line: If your expectations are "affordable big-box gym with tons of locations and I'm not a neat freak," you'll be perfectly happy and probably give it 4 stars. Turns out Ryan is also a trainer and a genuinely great guy. Ryan is very knowledgable and personable as well as very encouraging, and he is always smiling - except when it is his turn to lift lol. Margate Barbell is primarily a powerlifting gym, and Ryan is always around to make sure you are using correct technique to avoid injury. If you prefer circuit training Ryan's got plenty of tricks up his sleeves to keep your heart pumping. It's a smaller gym, but boasts a great atmosphere and great people. We set my goals and started working out 3 mornings a week. She shows up happy and ready to go. Yo keeps me distracted from what I am doing so that I keep going when I want to quit. I no longer feel ashamed that I am out of shape. She makes sure that I feel I have accomplished something at the end of every session. We discuss nutrition and she checks in with me on off days.
