I've come here in the middle of the day after a 6 mile hike at the tramway, for a late, drunk dinner after getting picked up from happy hour, and even when I was sick for a comfort meal. This place is DANGEROUSLY good, I could eat here every single week but I would easily gain 15 pounds before Thanksgiving. I am not even a traditional "Philly Cheesesteak" fan, but the bacon Philly at Art Alkobar is one of my favorite sandwiches of all time.

Stopped by on a Friday afternoon and got the Lechon Kawali with rice. The kitchen is open and you can see your food being prepared which is always cool. The dish was as expected and delicious. I liked the sauce that came with it and the Lechon was nice and crispy and meaty too. I am a new customer and will be returning to try other filipino dishes. They have cheesesteak sandwiches too and other non filipino dishes. Clean spot and very nice staff. I said thank and bye to them in Tagalog and they replied back. Thanks for the yummy food!

The perfect end to the night!…read more It was a perfectly hot night in Palm Desert, and this place was heaven sent. The variety of ice creams (both dairy and non-dairy for those who are lactose intolerant like me) and the ability to sample them without pressure was great. The server took care of us, and the outdoor seating was the perfect place to enjoy our cones on a hot summer night. The massive crowds of people there also enjoyed their night as well, as the place was poppin'. The portion size of the scoops, their patience, and the quality of the cones, all together made for a quality night.

The service was impeccable, timely, attentive, and genuinely satisfying without ever feeling rushed. The atmosphere at the The Desert Turtle Restaurant is elegant and rich, creating the perfect backdrop for a memorable evening out. I started with the wild mushroom soup, followed by the short rib as my main course, and finished with a bananas Foster soufflé--all of which were absolutely outstanding. Every dish was prepared with care and full of deep, satisfying flavor. My wife enjoyed the wild mushroom soup as well, along with the filet and a soufflé of her own, which she loved just as much. This restaurant remains a special place for us, and after four decades of visits, we can confidently say we will continue to be customers for life.

The dinner, including the wait, ended up 3.5 hours long. It was just way too much. And no apologies. In my opinion, if you make people wait an hour, you comp a drink, send a free appetizer, literally anything. Not an oh well moment. This is definitely a management issue. Now on to the good, our service was wonderful, starting with FERN! She was ADORABLE. She was the first one to greet us and had such a warm and kind demeanor, loved her! She made the night! They have live music, fun and interesting drinks, and the food I would say is 4/5. I probably wouldn't come back simply based on management and the fact that the meal is just too long for my liking. But if you're looking for the longer dining experience, check it out when it's not a holiday.
