If you like Venticello's in Benicia you'll like Palmeros as well. They're sister restaurants! I think of Venticello's as the older sister. A bit more refined. Palmeros is more casual and fun. The younger sis. A lot of their menu items are the same. So if you live closer to Palmeros and don't want to deal with downtown Benicia parking or driving as far it's a great option to consider. Of the menu items that differ Palmeros offers pizza and calzones. They also do not offer some of the more high end Venticello's dishes like the steak. Palmeros does not offer brunch. I like that Palmeros has a special menu. We tried the butternut squash ravioli from there. Delicious! The dessert menu is the same and even the bread and accompanying dip was probably the same. Service was prompt and friendly! The location is a lot more casual. You're in the same plaza as a gas station. So it's a more low key meal. The only negative I have is I noticed the front door was opened the entire time. I can see us coming back here for a quality Italian dinner! read more

This is our favorite Italian place in the area. Last 2 times I've asked Chef to go off menu. I've gotten Calamari steak on linguine but with the wine sauce they use for White Clams. So good. My sister took me to this little place in a strip mall. I really didn't have high expectations, however, I was blown away with the amount of food they gave. The portions are quite generous and they surely don't skimp on ingredients. I had the shrimp risotto, since I was craving risotto, and there wear at least nine, almost two inch wide shrimp in it! I did notice a lot of other diners ordered pizza, but we didn't try that. The only thing I wish was that they have was smaller calamari rings, instead of strips. My sister did say the portions were good and the ingredient were not skimpy. Even the dinner salad that accompanied entrees were quite large, as well, really more like a meal sized salad. I would definitely return when I'm in the area. The service was quite attentive, too. When the dinner rush was starting, I was pleased we came earlier. This is strictly take out. Ordered a $27 seafood pasta dish. It was not only small but the Alfredo was a watered down cream sauce. The 2 scallops were probably the best part of the dish. Because of the bland cream sauce the bell peppers took over the whole dish. So disappointed. I get more seafood from PHO and cheaper. Come on guys. You used to be good. The service from the girl at the front was nice. But I requested butter would she humbly obliged and then totally forgot. I knew I should have checked the order but the bag was tied and a tight knot and didn't have time to work on it since it was so hot outside. So the outside ambiance isn't the most scenic (it's in a small strip mall sharing the parking lot with a Chevron) but once you're inside, it looks like a little piece of Italy. Very reasonably priced and entrees include soup or salad. My favorites are their pomodoro or any of their daily shrimp specials. My husband loves the bolognese. We've never been disappointed. They have a little fancier sister restaurant but we like the overall atmosphere and friendliness at this location. read more

To be transparent I'm from Chicago, and ate homemade Italian cuisine my whole life! So I'm picky... This place is great! Would pass my Grandmothers test! The chicken piccata was 6 stars out of 5. I seen another dozen items I now want to try... Only small thing is that every Italian place should have Red wine vinegar and oil dressing! It's easy to make... stores forever and helps balance a heavenly meal! Very very good food and very reasonable prices! The wait staff did a really good job! We were here for my birthday dinner and have been quite happy. Tonight was horrible. I had the French onion soup, John had the minestrone. Both were very thin broths; there were no onions inf the onion soup, just 2 slices of bread and a little cheese; the minestrone had few vegetables. Certainly not worth $7 each. We got meatballs for the dogs; John had the bolognese, again subpar. Had to ask for bread. The only high point was the chocolate soufflés, with sides of gelato. If this had been our first visit, we wouldn't be back. In fact, we're considering not returning. We were both extremely disappointed. ** LATE REVIEW ** Hubby and I had a gift card and came here for dinner back in January 2022. We had not been here in ages so it's nice to see that they are still thriving. Our server was nice and always checked on us throughout our meal. Hubby ordered the Carbonara with Caesar salad and I got the Pasta Alaina with house salad w/ Italian vinaigrette dressing. When I walked into Palermos i was meet with beautiful pictures on the wall. A waitress was very kind when she sat us down. The menu had such amazing choices but i chose the pesto pasta the very kind blonde waitress came over and asked us what we would like and she was very polite. when our very kind waitress came over and gave us her food I tasted the pesto pasta and it was just fabulous it came with some some parsley and it was very delicious when we were done eating they gave us a very nice portion so we had to take some home are very kind waitress was nice enough to help us pack our food into a container. read more

Wow!!! What a hidden gem!! Strip mall surprise! Our friends took us to their new favorite local Italian place and we were impressed! Homemade minestrone soup was perfection! The Salad Special was mixed greens with blue cheese, apple and pear slices, candied walnuts ... it was so good I didn't need the dressing which I think was a tomato vinaigrette. The grilled shrimp was perfect! So good! Chicken cacciatore, risotto with shrimp and the ravioli filled with ricotta.... we also ordered a house salad and a Caesar salad...our party of four were 100% satisfied with the meal! It looks like a strip mall restaurant where you might not expect much, but the food was great! The fresh from the oven bread, with their seasoned oil was lovely. I ordered the white clam pasta. It was one of the best linguine & clams I've ever had. Not only were there about a dozen clams in their shells, but there were lots of chopped clams in the sauce. They have a really nice beer & wine selection but the spirits are extremely limited. One of the other diners I was with ordered a tequila sunrise. It looked good. read more

So this is our favorite Italian spot and we've been coming here for years. From the outside, it doesn't look like much, especially since it's right next to a gas station. It's intimate aka small, but has a backroom which we've reserved when we had larger groups. Crazy thing is that 99% of the time, this place has been sooooo good. But of course, now that we're yelping, the food wasn't up to par this last visit. I was planning on giving them a 5, but will have to give a 4 for now. I'm sitting in Palermos as I write this review, and I was just thinking how sad I'd be if this place ever closed... This is easily our favorite restaurant in Benicia/Vallejo. It took me about 8 years of living down the street before I ever tried it because of the location. Do not let it's location next to the Chevron station deter you! This is a hidden gem! The best thing we've found on the menu is the Cheese Ravioli, and my wife and I get it pretty much every time. Whenever we have out of town guests we bring them here and force them to get the raviolis as well. I know it sounds boring, but it's really all about the sauce. They call it a zesty creamy marinara... which is totally playing it down. It's the most flavorful sauce I've ever had! Also, the service is always great (Shout out to Tony, who knows what we are ordering as soon as we walk in the door and remembers that we are going to wipe out his Parmesan cheese supply!) read more

I actually like the small space since it feels cozy and has a really authentic vibe much like small restaurants in Europe. Their food is great and the servings are big. ~HIDDEN GEM~ This place is an absolute hidden gem! I grew up in Vallejo and have not been here yet! It was my first time going for my dads birthday, and we are a party of 7. We were able to sit inside and there was one other couple sitting at a table nearby. Inside is pretty small but we were able to fit comfortably. We ordered a bottle of wine and I ordered the gnocchi. I got a side salad with Italian dressing. And I tried some of the ministrone soup. Oh my everything was delicious! The gnocchi was so good I got so full! Every dish that was brought out looked amazing. It was pretty quick service for a party of 7. Our server was very nice and friendly. I had the Aglio Pomodoro with angel hair instead of linguine. The person taking my order easily substituted my noodle choice. She also told me that they were busy and gave me a time that I could pick up our order. I found this VERY helpful & was pleased to find the food ready & waiting for me when I arrived. This is my favorite Italian food in Benicia. Almost every time the food is a home run. I usually get the pasta Gabriella and it's never let me down. This last Friday wife got the Dijon chicken and daughter ate the Gnocchi. All had delicious flavors. It really was amazing. The only minuses we're the time it took for our dinners and desserts to arrive after ordering. Seemed slightly short staffed because all the employees were hustling their butts off. The location is less than appealing with the outside dining just a few yards from the gas stations gas pumps located immediately next door. Love this place! The food is delicious and the chef is amazing. Every dish is spectacular. The best Caesar salad with housemaid croutons ever. The bread is perfect with the dipping sauce. I always get the Daniella, love the shrimp the sausage and the chicken mixed with the delightful sauce. My husband loves the Gabriella. They have a nice wine selection. We usually get a Chianti. Pizza/salad was ready and got it from friendly staff person, though price (even with tax included) was some 4 dollars more than advertised on website. "Large" pizza looked more like a medium size but was tasty enough and came with extra sauce and cheese, and the large salad was good..but the pizza had this weird too-thin cracker style crust which was not as before and not so great.
