The pesto was a bit thin and ate a little soupier than I prefer. Buyer beware with the focaccia - although it's called focaccia, it's also listed under the pizzas so it was served thin and crispy like a pizza rather than thick and fluffy like we had been expecting. I would absolutely return again to try all the other dishes, especially the shared plates, different pizzas, and other fresh pasta offerings.

My husband ordered the double-thick pork chop and loved it. We also shared the fried shrimp and calamari appetizer, and both the marinara and aioli were excellent. One small area for improvement would be helping the younger waitstaff become a little more comfortable guiding guests through the menu. When we asked for recommendations and what dishes the restaurant was especially known for, it took a little prompting before we got to Parmigiano. Our server was perfectly nice. It just would have elevated the experience to have someone confidently say, "This is what we do exceptionally well, and here's what I recommend." Overall, though, we had exactly the kind of evening we needed. We brought a bottle of wine, relaxed, talked, enjoyed the atmosphere and genuinely felt like we had gotten away for a while. Rosa Morelli, the proprietor of Rosa's Italian Restaurant just happens to also be Our friends Mother-in-law so we all knew that we were in store for something special. We started off with some fantastic and delicious appetizers, including a variety of homemade potato pizza (really good), prosciutto and mozzeralla, bruschetta, eggplant caponata, plus fruit and a variety of other tasty treats. The entrees (all served family style) including pappardelle with sausage in cream sauce, chicken francese, grilled shrimp over bracolli rabe and fusilli with vodka sauce. Amazing meal and Rosa and family could not have been nicer. Rosa's is a BYOB and there is street parking only. It is located less than a mile away from the Willowbrook Mall. By request, there was not too much meat served tonight because of the religious holiday (ash Wednesday). We ended the meal with some Italian pastries, a celebratory cake commemorating the occasion and tartufo. A great evening with long time friends and good food. Interesting note about Rosa's Italian Restaurant and Caterer. This restaurant is not generally open to the public. It is not a walk in restaurant. If you would like to come to Rosa's you have to pre-schedule your dinner in advance with at least 8 or more people (up to 40 according to Rosa) and Rosa will accommodate you. You can discuss selected entrees if you like but generally the meal will consist of the dishes that Rosa is making that day. That meal will consist of a large variety of great dishes prepared for your group and served family style. This is a very cool dining experience in a old school Italian neighborhood restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised that an old school spot like this had somehow escaped us all these years. The atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for, the staff was awesome, and most importantly, the food delivered. We came out swinging with Clams Oreganata, Meatballs, Stuffed Mushrooms, Mozzarella Carrozza, and two different types of Ravioli. Needless to say, the table filled up pretty quickly. For dinner, most of the crew went with either the Veal Parm or Chicken Parm. A nice touch is that they'll do the parm with vodka sauce if you want to switch things up. I went with the steak special and had absolutely no regrets. Dessert was on point too, but I'll leave a little something to your imagination. The ceremony had been elsewhere, and when we arrived, we were a bit too early for the cocktail hour, which was to be held in the sunny Gregorian Room with its spectacular views of the blooming flowers on the outdoor Piazza. The entrance to the space was roped off until the precise kick-off time, so we all gathered in the marble lobby, which became more and more crowded as guests arrived. Folks were starting to get a bit restless, but at least there was a staff member serving sparkling wine with strawberries to keep them calm. I was not a fan of the selected bubbles, but they did their job. Also, since the day was unseasonably chilly, the coat room had been closed, but I reached out to a server, and she graciously opened the closet for the few of us that had items we needed to check. Once we got into the cocktail reception, we had access to a large open bar, loads of food, and plenty of seating. There were some passed hors d'oeuvres, as well as stations for antipasti, pizza, pasta, and carved meats. I found many of the Italian salads and marinated vegetables just decent, but the pizza was surprisingly good. I was trying to save room for dinner, so I did not try the pastas or meats, which had not really appealed to me anyway. We were later told to head upstairs to the Ballroom, which was elegant and looked like something straight out of a fairytale. It was extremely spacious, allowing guests to socialize with ease. The dancefloor was similarly sprawling with plenty of room to strut your stuff along to the music. From a drinks perspective, most people just claimed their own beverages from the bar, though the servers did offer us either a Pinot Grigio or a Cabernet Sauvignon tableside. I opted for the Cab, but found it watery and acidic. There were dinner rolls waiting at our place setting, and those were soft, fluffy, and lightly sweet. They were delicious! Our first course was a Caesar salad, which was fine except for the dressing tasted like pure mayonnaise. Thankfully, the second course was a palate cleanser of lemon sorbet, which was refreshing and not too sweet. We then had our choice of main course, selecting from salmon, chicken, and Chateaubriand. I went with the grilled salmon, which was served over a creamy potato puree and sauteed carrots. It was all tasty and well-executed. I heard that the steak, which was served with the same side dishes, was enjoyable as well. For dessert, we received individual slices of wedding cake, as well as a platter of cookies and mini-pastries for the table. Everything was delicious, and it was a nice end to the meal. il Tulipano was a gorgeous venue, especially for a wedding, and the service was phenomenal. When all you do is one thing you should do it right. This place doesn't come close. I would think you might be better off nuking something found at Shop Rite would be better.
