I had wanted to go to an event at il Tulipano since I was a child. I had driven passed the stunning venue so many times and had always been intrigued by its elegance. Well, I was finally able to investigate, since I was invited there for a wedding. The ceremony had been elsewhere, and when we arrived, we were a bit too early for the cocktail hour, which was to be held in the sunny Gregorian Room with its spectacular views of the blooming flowers on the outdoor Piazza. The entrance to the space was roped off until the precise kick-off time, so we all gathered in the marble lobby, which became more and more crowded as guests arrived. Folks were starting to get a bit restless, but at least there was a staff member serving sparkling wine with strawberries to keep them calm. I was not a fan of the selected bubbles, but they did their job. Also, since the day was unseasonably chilly, the coat room had been closed, but I reached out to a server, and she graciously opened the closet for the few of us that had items we needed to check. Once we got into the cocktail reception, we had access to a large open bar, loads of food, and plenty of seating. There were some passed hors d'oeuvres, as well as stations for antipasti, pizza, pasta, and carved meats. I found many of the Italian salads and marinated vegetables just decent, but the pizza was surprisingly good. I was trying to save room for dinner, so I did not try the pastas or meats, which had not really appealed to me anyway. We were later told to head upstairs to the Ballroom, which was elegant and looked like something straight out of a fairytale. It was extremely spacious, allowing guests to socialize with ease. The dancefloor was similarly sprawling with plenty of room to strut your stuff along to the music. From a drinks perspective, most people just claimed their own beverages from the bar, though the servers did offer us either a Pinot Grigio or a Cabernet Sauvignon tableside. I opted for the Cab, but found it watery and acidic. There were dinner rolls waiting at our place setting, and those were soft, fluffy, and lightly sweet. They were delicious! Our first course was a Caesar salad, which was fine except for the dressing tasted like pure mayonnaise. Thankfully, the second course was a palate cleanser of lemon sorbet, which was refreshing and not too sweet. We then had our choice of main course, selecting from salmon, chicken, and Chateaubriand. I went with the grilled salmon, which was served over a creamy potato puree and sauteed carrots. It was all tasty and well-executed. I heard that the steak, which was served with the same side dishes, was enjoyable as well. For dessert, we received individual slices of wedding cake, as well as a platter of cookies and mini-pastries for the table. Everything was delicious, and it was a nice end to the meal. il Tulipano was a gorgeous venue, especially for a wedding, and the service was phenomenal. We had the most incredible experience at Il Tulipano for our wedding, and we truly couldn't have asked for a better venue. One of our family members had attended a wedding here before and wouldn't stop talking about how amazing the food was, which is what initially drew us in and it absolutely lived up to the hype. From the moment we arrived for our scheduled meeting, Michael greeted us at the door, which made such a strong impression, especially after we had just waited over 30 minutes at another venue. That level of professionalism and attentiveness really set the tone. Michael was incredibly transparent about all costs, helped connect us with other vendors, and even assisted with setting up our centerpieces on the wedding day. Everything felt seamless, organized, and genuinely cared for. The food... absolutely incredible. People always say couples don't get to eat at their own wedding, but we were completely stuffed! The variety and quality were beyond anything we imagined. Guests were convinced the cocktail hour was the main event before dinner even began. And the desserts... endless and delicious. But the office holiday party as we know it is thought to have been born in Victorian England. Located off of Pompton Avenue in Cedar Grove, I attended my partner's annual office Christmas party last night, hosted at Il Tulipano, translated from Italian to mean "the tulip." Upon arrival to their 2-story floor-to-ceiling glass-enclosed foyer, we were greeted by the host, decked out in holiday colors, with the main focus on a huge Christmas tree and life-size Santa. Our venue was on the first floor with views of the bar and banquet room leading out to a breathtaking outdoor piazza for wedding ceremonies. Cocktail hour began with buffet-style hot and cold appetizers with a craving station featuring salmon and pork loin wrapped in bacon. For our main meal, there was a choice of chicken, beef, and salmon, accompanied by carrots and asparagus that were cooked to perfection and super fluffy mashed potatoes. All the food on our carefully selected menu is cooked to perfection. To end the night, a dessert dish of mini samplers with the decorated Christmas tree was offered. For entertainment, a DJ was hired for dancing. Fake money was given out to guests for pleasure to bet on some casino table games (craps, roulette, and blackjack) to win prizes such as an Apple Watch, several wine baskets, and the grand prize, a 55" smart TV. This place is AMAZING! Went for a wedding and I was the bride and groom's unofficial day of coordinator. The venue is absolutely beautiful that not much decoration needs to be added. The staff is helpful, willing and accomodating. The food and drinks were great. Cocktail hour was over the top. Their attention to detail is unmatched. They even had small items like zip ties and extension cords that we didn't know we needed during step up. They even had trips for us to use if we needed. We were also able/allowed to rearrange items around the venue as needed. We left the night of the wedding and were to come back the next morning. We went here for an event for my other half's job, and it certainly did not disappoint! The food was absolutely excellent. Cocktail hour included chicken and sausage which was phenomenal, sliders, mac and cheese squares, deep fried mozzarella, clams casino, Buffalo cauliflower, battered shrimp, and spring rolls. All were wonderful. Steak at dinner was cooked perfectly. It was well-seasoned, tender, and sides were flavorful and well-done. The bar staff was top-class. My husband and I had our wedding here 03/18/22 and everything was amazing! Carlos was very helpful up until last minute arrangements with our remembrance table and updated guest list. My mom hosted my bridal shower at il Tulipano and it was perfection! Working with Michael was a dream - he listened to us, was patient, and so accommodating. The day-of coordinator (I believe her name was Nancy) was also incredible to work with. The food was delicious (with huge portions), the service was top-notch, and the attention to detail was unmatched. The room on the first floor was so beautiful, light, bright, white and tastefully modern with access to a beautiful bar and outdoor area. The pricing was also extremely reasonable, especially given the space, the valet parking, the quality and amount of food, and the service. Everything was so delicious that I had a hard time controlling myself (oysters, pizzas, duck tacos, calamari... you name it, they had it and it was tasty). Surprisingly, the cocktail hour food was much better than the dinner service. I had the steak, which was well-prepared, but was missing something to really make it memorable. When we first walked in a year ago we met with Chris, who's personality alone could have sold us on the venue but aside from that the place is beautiful! We knew from the start this is where we wanted to spend our special day, so much so we canceled looking at other venues. We had the pleasure of working with Gina, who not only pulled off every last detail i wanted but kept me calm and did it with such ease. She was truly a pleasure to work with from every meeting, to her check in emails, to making sure she had everything perfect. Our wedding day was amazing the staff nailed my decor setup which wasn't an easy task as i was extra extra specific. The whole staff at il tulipano is fantastic i can't even begin to describe. Very casual and brief (just like it should be). *Staff is extremely friendly and on top of their game. The entire wedding was a cocktail hour so food was non stop. Set off in its own space, sort of out in the fields, sits Tulipano. It reminds me of a mansion. Parking is valet only for events so be prepared. Entering the mansion, I was greeted by a grand piano with a man playing a slow melody...set off to the side were flutes of champagne and bowls of berries just in case you wanted to plop one in your champagne and then.........you entered the hors d'oevre rooms filled with tables and tables of well, basically any kind of food you can think of. Carving stations, seafood tables (grilled shrimp, cold shrimp, clams, mussels ....), fruits, crackers and cheeses of all sorts, Italian stations, and tables to sit at. I got one overlooking the backyard. There was also a backyard deck overlooking the backyard complete with waterfall (for event pictures). I Do Not Recommend! A wedding is supposed to be one of the more beautiful and memorable days of your life. Being at that age where all my friends are getting married, I was looking forward towards this precious moment and was recommended Il Tulipano by a friend and picked out a date set in the Fall of 2020. When this unforeseen pandemic started, it affected me and my guests(including family and friends). Its difficult to see people you love going through the emotions of loss(jobs and loved ones) and struggling to get through these times. I myself have been affected and am not employed so prioritizing and allocating what I have left is important as I try to get through this along with my family. Also currently I am in an accelerated B.S nursing program and set to graduate in the fall 2020 which may get pushed back into the fall so my cohort can complete the clinical requirements. At this point much is unknown of what lies ahead and I had decided to plan ahead and postpone the wedding for the safety of my guests(family and friends), to lessen the financial burden i have from paying for classes, books,food and getting through this pandemic, and just to give myself a little more time to seek for alternative sources of income. At the time of shopping for venues back in July 2019 , Chris( who was amazing, understanding, gave us options, and was open minded)was handling my wedding but unfortunately left Il Tulipano and I was assigned somebody new to handle my wedding. After sending an email inquiring about delaying the second deposit for at least a month(it extended by a week) the new Director of Catering(DOC) called me. I was asking this because as I mentioned before I was going through financial difficulties. The DOC told me no i can not reschedule and would need to wait until August and to take a "leap of faith" that October will work out and if the government states it is ok to have social gatherings then the Wedding is going to happen. I felt a little bit like i was getting pushed up against the wall slowly as this conversation continued. The DOC said if I wanted to postpone I would need to open up my wedding date so they can fill that with another couple so that way Il Tulipano doesn't take a financial loss. Then I would be able to postpone my date 6 months from the original date without a fee because otherwise my current contract would need to get ripped up and this would theoretically incur higher costs. Which sounded ok to me because i was considering going for a date in April 2021. But then they went to tell me April 2021 is the start of our wedding season and if we schedule you in for an empty date during our wedding season then YES WE ARE TAKING A LOSS OFF YOUR WEDDING(Because new 2021 pricing takes place and goes up a percentage I was told). I won't lie, being told I'm inconveniencing them from making more profit hurt a little. In addition I inquired about possibly pushing back the date for the 2nd deposit(because it is a lot of money which I did not and still do not have at this time) if I was able to successfully postpone the wedding once my date has been filled by another couple. They told me "No, we already extended you by a week and legally I could have forfeited your contract but did not, you can go into a payment plan but we need some or all that money by tomorrow and there is no way around this because of policy". I asked if I canceled after opening my date and having it filled, then can I get a refund for my first deposit. They told me NO. They said it would be financial suicide if they started moving all these weddings in advance or delaying payments. From a business perspective yes I understood that that you need money to stay afloat and keep the lights but when I hear that my friends venues and vendors are being more considerate and flexible with payments and moving weddings and even not requiring payments at the time, it made me feel like there was less of an emphatic approach and more of a desperation for money from my venue. All these other places are taking huge financial losses, however they were all in agreement at the beginning of this pandemic that they would work with their clients to get through this together. The situation was escalated to the owner, at that time I sent an email regarding canceling the wedding. I received an email back from the DOC saying they would hate to see me lose my deposit because to them a deposit does not mean much because there is more money to made down the line.So I requested the owners email and sent the owner an email stating our disappointment in how the situation was handled and the profit first approach. The DOC emailed me back(not the owner) and at this time stated they are ready to work with me and reschedule my wedding. Why did it take for the situation to escalate to the point of me canceling and Il Tulipano losing out on making more profit for them to finally work with me? Regardless I lost my deposit and did not want to pursue with them. read more

By far the best wedding I have been to was this Saturday's wedding at il tulipano. I was moh at my best friends wedding and can say that everyone was extremely friendly, attentive, courteous and truly cared about the bride and groom, the bridal party and guests. There wasn't a need that the bride and groom didn't have met at times prior to even knowing they needed something. The decor is gorgeous, the food terrific and the grounds are spectacular. Our hair and makeup ran late so the bride, her brother, parents and 2 maids of honor were late to take pictures at the time allotted prior to the ceremony. Immediately upon stepping out of the car her bridal attendants were on the clock and attended to her (us) fantastically. They bustled her train, removed her veil, and reapplied her lipstick prior to all important pictures. They ensured her dress was protected while eating and really paid super close attention. Anyone planning a wedding should definitely visit il tulipano. From the minute we arrived at the rehearsal to the end of the wedding everyone there was terrific and welcoming. Chris was amazing too. Beautiful setting, helpful staff, and central location. We had my brother's graduation party here and it was a hit with everyone. The dinner was buffet-style in the room on the 1st floor (with the outdoor garden). Although we ordered the standard Italian classics (eggplant rollatini, chicken francese, fried calamari, roasted pig, and antipasti), all of the dishes were prepared very well. I personally enjoyed the tortellini with cream sauce the most but everything was great. The outdoor garden cannot be done justice by using words. It was absolutely breathtaking, complete with flowers, plants, a fountain, a porch with countless tables, and even a grill (although our event didn't require usage). If you are planning to have a summer evening event, try to get the room with access to this garden. When we got there early to set up favors and flowers, numerous members of the staff asked us if we needed assistance. The bartender was so friendly and accommodating to all of our guests. The atmosphere is more upscale than most party places. In fact, this place is known mostly for their weddings. There is valet parking and a medium-sized parking lot. The dance floor was right by the bar, which could be considered good or bad. If you love dancing, your martini is right there. If you don't like dancing or walking through crowds of people dancing, then it could be a hassle to get something. Overall, we would definitely use this place for another event. I had my own wedding here on 3/22/14. Everything here is top notch. The owner was very hands on with us. He made sure that everything was going according to plan the coming weeks before the big day, and on wedding night I saw him cutting filet up, so he is very hands on. The food is very good. I have not stopped fielding messages about how great the food was. We did a buffet style wedding so that people could just go up and gorge a few times during the night. The dessert hour was to die for. Cotton candy machine,gellatos, popcorn, mini pinnoli's, chocolate and white chocolate fondue machines... We booked our wedding Dec of 2012, and 2013 was sold out and 2014 was almost all sold out. The grounds of this place are very nice, so if you can get a summer wedding here, please invite me :) Top Noth, A++. There is nothing easy about getting married, but Il Tulipano gave us one of the best nights of our lives, and made it one of the best weddings ever for a good portion of all of our guests. My son and daughter-in-law just had their wedding reception here and it was fantastic! The food at the cocktail hour included everything that you could possibly imagine and was so delicious.The weather was nice, so many of the guests were out on the patio. The reception upstairs was wonderful. Veronica, the bridal attendant, was amazing and made sure that everything ran smoothly. I personally had the filet mignon and it was to die for. Really, every aspect of the evening was exceptional. Everyone at the reception thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I also have to mention that the bride and groom live out of state and Donald from Il Tulipano made making the arrangements so easy. The day of the the party absolutely perfect and there was nothing any guest wanted / needed that was not taken care of with a smile! Carol who ran the party for us was attentive, catering and sweet to all our guests including all the kids we had running all over! Phil the bartender was fast, extremely attentive and super engaging with everyone including the Shirley temple requests! Yooooooooo, this place right here?! My lord! I just got back from my cousin's wedding reception dinner party here and they put on a spread of the century. The venue itself is laid out quite nicely to accommodate guests in various parts of the building. We started off which a cocktail hour in the bar area. The bar section had ample room for a buffet-style appetizer to be set-up and not interfere with guest seating. There had to be at least 100 guests and the place was full but not overly crowded. The drinks and the food were all prepared very nicely. Lasagna, pizza, meatballs, and your typical Italian antipasto platter spread. One of the bartenders Phil, was the man of the night in my book. He was mixing up drinks all night upstairs and downstairs. My favorite was the signature drink of the night, the "Mint To Be" mojito. Lightly sweet but not overly so. Very balanced flavors between the alcohol and the additional ingredients. You don't taste the rum in a good mojito but It kind of creeps up on you. Let's just say that after a few of Phil's mojitos I had the urge to serenade the newlyweds with my rendition of "That's Amore" ...in a speedo...while doing a handstand...underwater...or something equally ridiculous. After the cocktail hour we took things upstairs to the main dining area/banquet hall. The food options were chicken, salmon, and filet mignon. I tasted all 3 and they ALL were prepared to perfection. The filet that I ordered was cooked to true medium, per my request. And alas came the Venetian Table experience. WOW! This spread had a cotton candy machine, a popcorn machine, dessert cocktails, brownies, zeppelins, waffles, cookies, cheesecake, wedding cake, cheese cake, other cake. ice cream, fruit cobbler, apple pie, it was dessert heaven. And everything was really good! So, I don't know when I would ever be back the area to eat here again but I hope that my other cousin follows her brother's lead and gets married here. I don't care what happens with the marriage after the wedding but if they begin the relationship with a reception dinner event at Il Tulipano, I think that the relationship would have a fighting chance! read more

This place for a wedding was one of the most memorable venues I have ever attended. The day was nice so you can utilize the outside area and inside really beautiful.The Food was so damn good that I cannot name one thing I didn't like. The reception of Shrimp, Oysters clams was incredible. Cheese board that was about 10 feet long with assorted breads. Eggplant Rollantini was out of this world. The Lamb was terrific the tortellini in Alfredo was superb. Should I stop :) The dishes at the wedding were all cooked to perfection. Lobster risotto , followed by my choice of chicken with prosciutto that was incredible. My wife said the filet migno was the best samwe with my brother and Mom. Also the Venetian hour and a Int'L coffee bar, a display of every forbidden sweet, cakes chocolate omg, I'm telling you even the coffee regular coffee was good and everyone knows that is NEVER the case. My wife and I had our reception here July 19th. Wow- it's hard to put in to words how amazing this place and the people here are. The venue is beyond beautiful (especially in the summer) and the food is absolutely delicious. Our guests felt like they were at a five-star fine dining restaurant or resort. On top of all of that, you won't find better people to work with. Jacques, Carol, and Veronica in particular personally went out of their way and made our wedding day unforgettable; for us and our guests. Everything went smoothly as promised. My son had his wedding here!! The cocktail hour with the food stations were unpararreled. As we walk in theres an antipast table fully loaded. Then the stations, OMG!! There was a quesadillas, then 3 different hot pastas being made, further there was hot seafood , then a cold shellfish with oysters clams and shrimp, a pizza station, whole pig carving station with filet mignon, Then prepared foods sausage and peppers beef and broccoli , chicken francase,payaya, cefachie salad, meatball in a cream sauce OMG... it just kept coming serving lambchop lollypops, crabcakes, stuffed clams...I cant remember everything But OUTSTANDING!!! the venue was well run by the dj s and a graet memorable time was had by all!! We had our wedding on 9/18/16 at Il Tulipano and I cannot thank them enough! The food was out of this world! Cocktail hour was beautifully displayed and absolutely delicious! The dinner was just as good, steak was cooked to perfection and sides were tasty too. Drinks were amazing and cake/desserts insane!!! The service was top top top notch! From the wait staff to Sundea (bridal attendant) to Carol our maître d' everyone was on top of everything, pleasant and thoughtful! Everything was done exactly as I planned it, so I didn't have a single worry. Our guests are still talking about it a week later! I highly recommend them for any function .. especially a wedding!! We had our wedding at it Tulipano on June 9,2018 and we were blown away. We worked with Chris. Not only was he lovely and easy to work with but he and il Tulipano catered to every need during the planning process and the day of. He made planning a breeze. Our bridal attendant was extremely on top of things- to the point where she took a hair pin out of her own hair and pinned it in mine to fix my hair before I went on the dance floor. The night was a dream and was beyond our imagination. There was no shortage of food. Every last bite was delicious and our guests keep talking about it.
