I find it most auspicious that Kalaheo means "the proud day" in Hawai'ian. It certainly is a proud day for Steve and Jan, and for Kaua'i itself, because her beauty is well-encapsulated in the visions of these two wonderful, thoughtful, talented, and soulful artists. I wish them every success in their endeavors, and hope to see the paradise they love for myself, very soon. We talked about how we might return the gear a few hours over the 3 day limit and he said we could get the 3-day rate instead of the 4-7 day rate. I really appreciated that! The gear itself was great and we had no issues. We had a great time snorkeling Poipu and Lawai Beach. Sadly Tunnels and Ke'e were closed during the time that we were in Kauai but the snorkeling at Poipu and Lawai was amazing. We saw a Hawaiian Monk Seal and Turtles and lots of beautiful tropical fish. Boss Frog's definitely helped us have a great experience.

Where do you go when Lawai Beach waves are too rough to snorkel?…read more We were here November 6-13, and every day the ocean waves came in strong even in the mornings, let alone in the afternoons, when they were outright nasty. Met some people who just came out of the ocean from snorkeling, and they said they were beat up by the waves, with water too turbulent to see through the sand kicked up in the water. Half a mile up the coast toward Spouting Horn is Kukuiula Beach, with a massive breakwater protecting shallow waters from the thunderous waves. Grassy area right next to the beach with a few palm trees, picnic benches, and restrooms. Boat ramp next to the pier for boats to unload and load into the water. Filled up with locals on the weekends, with 30 minute limit parking on the road on the pier, leading to the breakwater. Didn't see any cars leaving after 30 minutes, as the locals know where the cops patrol. Lot of rocky areas next to the beach. Didn't see any coral reefs and few or no snorkelers, as it was cloudy every day of our stay on the coast. Wife had walked ahead, leaving me unsupervised, watching a lady in a thong swim suit swimming off the beach.

He was very professional, attentive to our needs and went the extra mile to give us ocean safety information and some cool places to enjoy Kauai and make the best use of our equipment. We would not have discovered some of these spots and enjoyed ourselves as much without his knowledge. Thank you again Aaron. If we return to Kauai, we will come back to this shop and hope to see him again.
