What a cool and fun experience! Nicole was an awesome teacher! She kept us laughing the entire time and gave good tips and reminded us we were there to have fun. I walked in with 0 expectations that I could even draw a stick figure lol but Nicole's motivation really helped and I think I did a great job. They have different sessions to attend. I saw online they had mother and daughter, couples, all ages, 21 and over, and byob sessions. I highly recommend to take drinks and some snacks especially if you go with your friends or partner. Participating in a painting class hosted within a winery is dangerous fun: you mean I can taste and purchase bottles onsite and drink away my painting anxiety? To me ees h'okay! By the end of the class I was pretty sure nothing prettier had ever been rendered on canvas than our resulting couples art pieces. I can't review their actual facility as we were offsite at Duchman Winery, but I can review everything else. The instruction was great, although I do wish there had been more explicit callouts. Things like "do NOT paint this area in all the way yet!" and "couple person painting on the left - the following instruction is NOT for you!!" would have gone a long way for folks passionately singing along to some 90s jams *cough*me*cough* which perhaps led to bouts of over-confidence and temporary distraction. There was also genuine concern in my life over whether I would accidentally ingest the paint water I was using to clean my brushes. It tasted colorful. When they were nearly done with all the prize drawings they had done throughout the painting, I realized we hadn't been asked to add our names during check-in. They threw our names in at the end and we won a stemless wine glass. Nice. Back to the music: has there been anything worth hearing since The Macarena, the Backstreet Boys, and 80s Madonna? Because I don't think so and neither does Pw/aT. They eventually threw in a little MJ and Journey with some current hits but I'm a-okay with tunes from back when high school was my unfortunate reality. We've spent a great deal of now-sober time admiring our work and thinking of places to hang it. If you think about how much art work costs to buy, paining it yourself with friends and some guidance is a pretty swell idea. I'm no painter, but a happy little bridge and a happy little tree never hurt anybody. read more

Such a relaxed fun evening here painting to celebrate a friends birthday. I love a good hands-dirty creative session and there's less space than there should be to have them in my ever more adult life. I loved the instruction, the atmosphere, how easy it is to use the well thought through and laid out equipment. I also love that it's BYO wine. Such a great place to host a casual event or birthday party. They leave a couple of 15 minute breaks throughout the process for paint drying - which is plenty of time to run to the bar next girl to enforce birthday tequila shots on your host! I do wish there were some slightly more edgy / sleeker pictures on their menu - I loved the process but the gaudy bright pictures aren't quite my thing. Offer me some more monochrome city scapes or abstract grey and blue scale paintings and I'll be there ALL the time! read more

My friend had her bachelorette party here and the party planned the event. It's BYOB so I brought a bottle of wine and the bridal party had brought snacks even so we got an extra table where we can set up all our refreshments. Since we had plenty, the party shared with others. The staff is super friendly and nice about their direction since a lot of us seemed to be new at this (I am a horrible artist). I do wished the assistant came down the middle to give us assessments but I guess due to the tight proximity, he really couldn't. Speaking of tight quarters, that's the main downfall for me. I could barely juggle my alcohol and snack plates while painting also. If I'm going to draw well/at all, I need my booze nearby. Also, the stands they give you are sort of light so at times, my painting would smack into my friend's across from me. Otherwise, a cute idea and fun was had by the party. read more

Always a fun time! So this location is in the ever transitioning shopping center at William Cannon and 290. There are some pretty solid businesses in there but sadly, I feel like they will always be defined as "next to Detour." Same format as always (monkey-see, monkey-do) but what I appreciated about this location was they can do two paintings at once. This meant our smaller (aka cooler) party had the back room! Our instructor Jeff was fantastic and we all had a lot of laughs. We were painting Van Gogh's Starry Night which is a mess to begin with, and he managed to coach us all to paint something that at least resembled it. (Though he also made it clear you could paint whatever you damn well pleased :-) Highly recommend doing dinner/drinks nearby, like Jack Allen's, or that excellent pizza place next to Detour ;-) read more

Absolutely fun! I love the whole process from purchasing your seat to taking pictures of our finished painting. You can go online and view their calendar and choose a painting of your liking. Once you arrive they are very welcoming and provide very relaxing atmosphere. We were a group of 7 and they sat us together which I was very pleased with. There was plenty of room and we had a table behind us where we had our drinks and snacks. Our instructor Whit was full of energy and just awesome to work with. I didn't think I can pull off the painting but the steps were so easy that anybody can do it. I had so much fun and will be returning next month! read more

I love this place so much! I've been 6 times and if I had the money, I'd go every week. The prices are very reasonable compared to other places of its kind. I've had Brittany as my instructor probably 4 of the 6 times and she is just great! And she always remembers me when I come back. And I don't care who you are, that kind of stuff makes you feel great. Like you matter a little more than you thought you did before you went. All the instructors and helpers are terrific though. I went to a Harry Potter night and there were a ton of children there... and even though some of the parents weren't doing anything to make their kids behave, the helpers stepped in and broke up an argument between two young girls, and calmed the nerves of the girl across from me who was having a panic attack bc her yellow looked green... Wow!! What a great experience. A friend and I went to Paint Your Pet this past Sunday and I could not be more impressed. All the details of our pet's portrait was far beyond anything I could sketch myself. And then they walked us through the entire painting... which could not have been easy considering everyone was painting a different picture. So much fun!! Now don't get me wrong... if you have 2 left hands and are all thumbs they are not going to turn you into the next Rembrandt but I can guarantee everyone will leave with a painting far better than if they tried on their own. A friend of mine had her birthday here and rented out the space. What fun! This was my second time to do one of these painting and wining things. Stephanie was our instructor and she's totally fun. If you haven't done one of these before and you're intimidated by the paint, don't be. She walks you through it step by step and before you know it, you're snapping photos of a beautiful piece of art work. The thing is is that once you get it home, no one knows what the original was "supposed" to look like, so it doesn't matter if you mess it up. There are no mess ups (just happy little trees)! The party was about 2 hours long (until they all but kicked us out!). There's a table for wines and cheeses and chocolates and whatever else your friends might bring. And that's all you have to supply. They give you plenty of paint, direction, brushes, aprons and so on. Just bring your smile and willingness to try it out! read more

It was my first time and it won't be my last!! The atmosphere was very relaxing, the staff is super friendly and overall s GREAT experience. I went with 6 of my coworkers and we all reserved online. We were all seated together and we had an extra table behind us so we put our beverages and snacks. The instructor Whit was so awesome! This summer, their 'Twist at Home' curbside pickup was our life saver really! Very easy to order and pick up. Mark was really super helpful and friendly when we had questions about the choice of pictures. Some pictures come with videos (great instructors!) and some come with detailed written instructions which are clear and easy to follow. We painted at least 4 pictures this summer as a family (still counting...)! read more

I came here for the Grand Opening on July 12 with my friend and we had a blast. This is my second time coming to a painting class at Painting with a Twist (different location first time). The Grand Opening was a lil different from regular classes. There were drinks and food provided, door prizes given out and goodie bags to everyone at the end of the night. All your paint is provided, canvas, smock and water cup. All you need to bring is yourself and your favorite drink and have some fun. I wish I could attend a class once a week, but I can't afford it. I'll settle for once a month. ;-) This location has super nice staff and artist. The other location I've been to, the staff was a little rude to customers. This place is a must visit for anyone wanting to try something different and fun. The instructors go step by step over the painting and help you if needed. You leave with a finished product to call your own! I can't wait to go again ;-) read more

I have no art experience or skills and have been blown away by how easy they make it! My 6yo son and I have done many classes and each time we have more and more fun. The adult classes are VERY entertaining and paced so that you have plenty of time to paint, eat, drink and chat with friends. Nicest people too! read more
