Some plants did and a lot did not. There were no workers to be found. It was like a ghost town. when I did find the price of the plants they over charged. I go to plant nurseries all over Utah and can find the same plants for half the cost and way more healthy. Shades used to be way better maintained but every time I've stopped by it seems like are becoming less and less maintained. I use to brag about this place but after today I just won't be back until they start to be organized, maintain their plants and have more affordable pricing. They are pricing out their customers.

Sun River Gardens is beautifully organized, thoughtfully displayed, and stocked with a selection that puts most nurseries in the area to shame. Walking through it feels less like a garden center errand and more like an experience worth making time for. The indoor plant section is well curated and extensive. The outdoor area covers annuals, perennials, trees, and shrubs. The pottery selection, both indoor and outdoor, is lovely and priced accordingly. The pre-potted arrangements are hard to walk past. And then there is the home decor section, which is genuinely my favorite part of the visit. Exclusive, elegant, and full of pieces you simply will not find anywhere else, from beautiful accents and furniture to the most charming toys you can imagine. None of it is cheap, but none of it looks like anything else either. Now for the part I have been trying to figure out for years. I have a green thumb. I have a home full of healthy thriving plants. But something consistently happens with the plants I bring home from Sun River Gardens. Within a week or two, despite careful attention and following care instructions, they decline and die. This has happened enough times to be a pattern rather than a coincidence. Interestingly I have noticed the same thing with plants from other high end nurseries, while plants from Harmons or even Walmart almost always thrive. My best guess is that greenhouse grown plants raised in highly controlled environments struggle more with the transition to home conditions, but I genuinely do not know. What I do know is that it keeps happening. And yet I keep coming back, because the selection and the experience are that good. Four stars for the atmosphere, the inventory, and that home decor section. Just go in with realistic expectations if you are buying plants to keep alive.

After my home was lost in a fire I was given a $300 gift card to help replace my belongings. When I went to use it this week I was told that it would not be honored. Talk about adding insult to injury. I asked to speak to the manager and he was completely unsympathetic about it and could care less. They got $300 and kept it. This is theft in my opinion. After I was given a number to call to resolve the issue and calling it the number is disconnected. This used to be my favorite store, but it is now just a huge disappointment.

We were just looking around when the owner literally started following us around. We told her we were "just browsing" and she had no reply. I began looking through the cork screws when she quote said "if you have anything you shouldn't, I suggest you put it back" obviously assuming we had stolen something. After feeling judged and humiliated we left. Definitely a horrible experience, and I will not be coming back.
