My favorite thrift store. I live in SLC, but go here when visiting family in Heber. Of course the items available are hit and miss, like any thrift store, but it's pretty easy to find something useful or awesome. I love the room of books. The way the entire thing is set up is fun. There are many small rooms with different things in each. The children's room has toys and kids books. I almost always find a great book or two. A great example of how well they manage the items: they count the puzzle pieces to make sure they are all there!! I wish every thrift store did that! My family that lives locally is always finding amazing like new puzzles and toys and even clothes.
Another favorite thing about this thrift store is the Black Friday sale. The prices aren't that much better than every day prices (which are great as it is, so that's ok) but they have so much great stuff. I hear hey save the best toys all year and put them out on Black Friday.
ETA They limited this year! Each family can only get one giant bucket and one set. You should be able to get a few of the very small sets, so well see how that goes in future years. But I'm glad they are limiting the large sets. The extended families in our family were each able to get some legos this year! So nice not to watch one lady walk out with everything. I feel bad for the people who work here trying to be helpful to everyone because the lady sure have them a hard time! If you read this, thank you for all you do and helping us all have a chance at great presents at a great price. I Iove St Lawrence even more!!
My only complaint is about the Black Friday sale. Some people will go in and grab everything, going crazy. There is one lady in particular that brings a few boys with her to sit in line for her and then go in and grab ALL the legos, no matter how many. It's pretty ridiculous how many she buys. She does this every year, which makes me think she's buying them and reselling them. I wish they would have a limit on things like that so others have a chance of even looking at them. I don't know if there is a solution to this, but I think the management could do something. Oh well. It's still a fun sale to go to and I'm going tomorrow even though I told myself I didn't need to. Haha. Tradition and fun wins I guess! read more
